Just saw these stats of Imran Khan against great Windies from 1980s. Just look at that average against the greatest team!

Botham was a big failure against West Indies and Qadir stats against West Indies are better than his career stats.

His stats only get better even if you remove 1987 tour.

Although Imran Khan lost of a couple of years when he was at peak because of injury but still he made sure his name will be written first when names of the best players against Great West Indies are written...

Great West Indies was playing when Imran was at his peak...

In both statistics, five runs of difference separate greats of the game from the greatest of the all time :ik

A class above the rest :don

This feat is not even debatable, imran is the greatest cricketer Pakistan has ever produced and is in the top 5 of all time greatest without any shadow of a doubt.

Anybody who thinks otherwise clearly hasn't seen cricket enough to understand the gravity of the feats listed above.

I don't think we, at least I'll speak for myself here, would see another cricketer like him in our lifetime.

THE OG GOAT :imran

both Imran & Kapil were so successful bowlers against that great WI team.Botham on the other hand stooped to
pathetic levels vs them.So strange despite being such a great all rounder, this Botham. Along side Imran's, Kapil's performance too was equally brilliant vs West Indies .He bowled along with Binny,Madanlal, Sandhu,Sastri etc etc where as Imran had Qadir,Wasim Waqar etc etc .He bowled more no: of balls against Windes than Imran, He has better avg: in WI than Imran .To achieve such a great performance vs Windies by countering such adversities makes Kapil's performance equally brilliant.

Waqar debut was after 1988 and these stats are until 1987/88 tour. Not denying that Kapil performance was also great against WI but It's more hard to get better stats when u have other great or very good bowlers in same line up because wickets are shared with them.

yeah..Waqar debuted along with Sachin...and i was not commenting by looking into those stats ... but just generally.Windies during both Imran's & Kapil's time periods were unarguably the best team of their times. They won the 75 world cup and from then on started their supremacy.By the time Kapil took off in 78, WI still was the no:1 team though not as powerful as in the 80s.And in 1990 when Imran played his final series vs WI ,WI was in transition phase and not as powerful as before.Yet they were still the no: 1 team. That is why i took the data as a whole and not selective stats.

But i disagree with your 2nd statement.Though wkts gets shared, avg: gets better.Means no: of wkts will be lesser due to wkts getting shared , but str: rate & econ: gets better and hence better avg:

less wickets? Imran 51 wickets in 17 innings that mean 3 wickets in every inning. Kapil 72 wickets in 31 innings that means 2.32 wickets every inning. Imran one 10 wicket haul and five 5fer in 10 matches, Kapil one 10 wicket haul and four 5fers in 19 matches.

Wow pretty impressed with Kapil's record against the Windies in that second table! He also rose his game against the best of his time.

I loved Kapil's bowling style, was such a pleasure to watch. Very underrated bowler!

Imran on his bowling alone is a top tier ATG.

He averaged 19 with the ball and 50 with bat for a GOD DAMN DECADE !!! this alone makes him the best overall cricketer the subcontinent has ever produced !!

And I am not even taking into account his Captaincy, fielding, player development skills etc etc

We were extremely lucky to have him around during that period

What needs to be said is that Michael Holding, Joel Garner and Andy Roberts had all retired by then. And during this Test match, both Viv Richards and Malcolm Marshall didn’t play. The bowling attack consisted of newbies Curtley Ambrose and Courtney Walsh who were still finding their way in international cricket.

Anyways, both Viv Richards and Malcolm Marshall returned for the next Test which Pakistan lost.

Among the top 10 Test bowler of his generation.

Wasim was a superior all round bowler.
