Is IPL the sole reason for the Indian batsmen’s power game?

It seems that almost every Indian batsman in their limited overs squad these days has a fifth gear which they can summon and score at 200+ SR. Frankly the collective hitting power is something I haven’t seen before.

This is not to say that the individual players cannot come under pressure and hence not perform in crucial situations but in terms of just hitting ability it is unmatched.

How much of the credit goes to IPL?

Who cares?

We need to stop obsessing over the IPL

Also, they're playing at home. Why don't we see batsman like Iyer score this fast in SENA countries?

Not really. I think they are backed to play like this even though they are big six hitter they bat up the order.

Unlike Pakistan in past 10 years or so we have had our attacking players play in a more defensive way and anyone that can hit a six bat down the order and be classed as a hitter.

It's ironic given that the team management for the past 3 years through their regressive selection policies ensured India were reduced from having one of the best and most explosive middle/lower middle order in world cricket to one of the weakest. Guys like Rayudu, Jadhav, Shankar, old Dhoni turned a lot of high totals to mediocre chaseable totals.

Now we are starting to witness once again the hating ability of this team.

Pandya
Pant
Iyer
Rahul
Dube

These are all very gifted hitters.

They are spinner killers literally.

Many people felt it was exact opposite when we were fielding Jadhav, Rayudu ,old Dhoni in our lineup.

But now we have come up with arguably the most balanced top 5 we can have. I still feel there are better guys who can open than KL Rahul in ODI cricket, although he has done well as well but I am very pleased with the top 5 now.

Shreyas Iyer brings that stability to the lineup while Pant adds the entertainment factor to that top 5. Both are solid players and are future of Indian cricket. They are different kinds of players but fulfill what you expect from a no.4 and a no.5. There will be failures, let's not fool ourselves but they will get back from it and should take this team forward post Rohit and Kohli.

The question mark right now is a no.6.

India is currently producing some wonderful players in all departments they got wonderful batsmen useful bowling attack and physically fit good quality sportsmen. I think IPL plays a big part it helped youngsters to work with international stars and senior coaches and increased the value of being a good player.

India is currently for me the best team in the world the historical struggle of sub-continent teams in Aus,Eng and SA is nothing new but India does better than others there as well.

Some guys have changed their game to adapt. For instance Murali Vijay for one or two seasons went from a slow player to monsterous six hitter. Others are natural hitters. Check Iyer's first class. Even there he scores quickly.

You just made me sad because Vijay was supposed to do great things. Never clicked on international LOIs he was a monstrous and clean six hitter
