Is it a blessing in disguise for us to have Saud Shakeel in for the Super 4 game against Sri Lanka?

Pakistan Vs Sri Lanka, The Super 4 Game Turns out as a Semi Final; Agha's Appurtenance in doubt. Is this Blessing in Disguise for us to have Saud in?

Saud deserves his shot, but he’s just going to end up like every other player over the past decade or so. I hope he proves me wrong but he doesn’t look like a player that can start playing attacking shots once he’s set himself in.

I think Umar is history now. Saud, we can talk... Forms matters, he is in good nick. he just hit 2 bounders against Afghanistan but he was looking good. No one is as technically good as he is except babar.

Saud's Spin game can be a turning point for us. He can play spin exceptionally well when we compare him with the other. Definitely deserves a change now in the team.

I really like Saud but as long as the middle order still has Rizwan and Iftikhar plus Fakhar at the top then it is not possible for him to make a difference

agreed but we are sensitive nation we only lost 1 out of last 12 games

you can say but I think a strong middle order batter and a genuine breaker of the ball can resolve matters

In January he was good enough in first game he scored 77*

First Game Pakistan Won with his 77* Chased 256 (Pacer Friendly Naseem has 5) 28 in second where all were struggling expect Babar 77 of 74 in third too

Saud Shakil will be the replica of Asad Shafiq. The guy played more than 60 ODI's with 20 average and 65 strike rate.

I saw how Saud played in the test matches agaisnt England and New Zealand. The guy has a block-block mindset which cannot be changed now. Such characters should be kept away from our white ball team.

Haris Sohail is our second best ODI batsman but idk why we haven't selected him

I think Haris Sohail was injured, But if he was fully fit and still not picked then it is a huge blunder. Saud Shakeel has to prove his metal in case he plays the next games. Still young to say anything about him.

Everybody comes up with a knee jerk reaction. Saud will make no difference. The fact is we dont have any batting talent what so ever. I saw the 20 year allrounder yesterday from srilanka who i followed during is last under 19 world cup you can see how talented he is compared to our so called qasim akrams or mubashir khans.

we must groom our batters somehow

if Pakistan lost today game then it's is going to last game before world cup .
So what is playing eleven for 1st world cup game ??
Fakhar should have given another chance today becouse he is a match winner but now as he is dropped his confidence is very low just before mega event

Agreed the way he plays he is just 1 inning far. If Haris doesn’t perform today it will leave many questions and a new conspiracy theory will start

Saud needs to be slotted at no 4. Rizwan( he sucks but he needs to open, haris needs to be at 7 to strengthen our non existent middle order).

Fakhar looked way off-color, to be honest. His intent is very off considering his style of batting. I am not sure if team management has told him to play like this or what. But his aggressive nature looked lost during this whole time.

Agreed, have also concerns about Haris. Its not T20 where opner hit odd deliveries score 25 30 fast runs from the top is enough. You need runs from the top If Haris threw his wicket earlier on situation will be same ( facing from last 8 games)

TBH most of the time we see that struggling batters do so. Block Block Block Muhammad Wasim, Ex Cheif Selector once said we selected XYZ for Force but they blocked blocked
So its norm for us if you struggle Just Block

Best of Luck to him but people seem to be extrapolating from his test exploits.

His list A stats aren't anything special. His has a tendency to get bogged down and makes up for it by sheer discipline and excellent technique vs Spin. This will not work in odis.

The way Fakhar plays, this block technique will not work for him. He is not technically sound to make that work. He can attack and loose his wicket rather then block and look silly on the crease. Not his style

If you saw the way the ball spun in the India game, you might want to ask Younis Khan to come out of retirement for this team.

We don’t need his strike rate or list A average atm, you just need his ability to play spin properly

Saud's spin game is not bad. He proved it in the tests against Sri Lanka. He just needs to settle down in ODI now, this type of opportunity
won't come again and again.

Sir.

If you saw how he simply played out Anderson and Robinson and barely putting bat to ball vs them even on Pak flatties, you will realize that's what will happen in odis too. This resilience is admirable in tests but will be disastrous in odis.

Teams won't feed him spin.

he has 44 avg in List A not bad TBH. Yes we can talk on List A matches and tournaments (Pitches and number of matches issues)

Agreed. His game against spin is always up to the mark. Whether anybody likes it or not, he is one of the better choices in the middle overs on those tracks.
