Is Jadon Sancho the first football star with (possibly) south asian ancestry?

He's originally from Trindad and almsot half the population there is either south asian or mixed as is the case with most of their cricketers so I'm assuming Jadon Sancho is mixed with south asian, if so he'd probably be the biggest footballer of south asian heritage.

Hamza Choudhary. Neil Taylor for Wales.

Yeah and Zidane Iqbal, Easah Suleiman and Zesh Rehman but none of them are as talented or well known as Jadon Sancho.

Jadon Sancho is not that well known either outside UK and Germany. Star is a very subjective word and how you know that Kyle Walker, John Barnes don't have Asian ancestry?

I live in the US, Jadon Sancho is well known to anyone that watches soccer and the recent news of him being sold by Dortmund to United for $100 million is making the waves. He's also playing in this quarter final as we speak.

Look up what star means, y'all need to have standards :))
Yeah that was tongue in cheek.
Probably first one of South Asian origin to play in a World Cup perhaps?

Anyway does Sancho have any SA heritage, Ive never heard of it before

His middle name is Malik so the OP thinks it might be Asian heritage even though most Afro-Americans have that name too.

I don't know for sure and no I didn't assume he was south asian cause of his middle name :)) I'm American, I know Malik is a common name amongst black people. I literally stated my reasons for presuming why he might have some south asian heritage - Trindad & Tobago is almost half south asian by descent and a lot of people there are mixed with south asian, it's even reflected in their cricket team. I've met quite a few people from Trinidad and they were almost always South Asian, of course I could be wrong and Sancho could just be Black.

He's not the only Trini to play for England. It seems like you are mistaking Guyana for T&T

Honestly, he looks more like a black-white mixed footballer like Dele Alli than south asian black mixed if you ask me. I might be wrong but it's just my guess.

And even if he has just a tiny fraction of south asian genes, it would do nothing for south asian football because he is not seen as a south asian icon. Trinidad and Tobago has its own unique culture and even the full blown desi origin people there would not relate with south asian culture as much as say British or American desis would do. South asians need a proper footballer of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi or Sri Lankan origin for people to look up to.

He could be triracial, its' not uncommon to be white, black either native, asian or desi in the Caribbean but yeah it's unlikely although I wouldn't rule it out. As for identification, I actually dated a Muslim girl from T&T and she did identify as Desi as apparently the cultures are very similar and they eat similar food, the only caveat is that they only speak English as their ancestors migrated there in the 1800s.

Erik ten Hag on Sancho's future:

“As far as I know, I expect him to stay, yeah”.

“We are happy with him. We need a good squad. We have to play many games until January. After the break we play every third day so we need options”.

🚨🔵 OFFICIAL: Jadon Sancho joins Chelsea on loan with obligation to buy from Manchester United.

Club finally confirms Sancho to join as total package will be worth £20m fixed fee plus £5m add-ons.

It’s over between Sancho and Man United.

His wiki says that his father is Jamaican
Guyanese and mother is from Trinidad.

For sure he has some Indian in him. Both Guyana and Trinidad have large Indian populations. He also has some black from his Jamaican side. Pretty sure he also has some white in him. Black and Indian do not produce that kind of features.

Not surprised he's done ok at Chelsea. He's a link player in and around oppossition penalty box, and Chelsea play exactly that.

Utd are a low block counter attacking team majority of the times. And they expect their wide players need to be quick, this is where Sancho was out of place.
