Arthur has struggled in Tests due to overseeing a tricky transition due to loss of two senior batsmen and having faced tough overseas tours like NZ and Australia which his predecessors did not.

However there's no reason why he can't rebuild the Test team given how he's rebuilt the LOI teams. He just needs time to find our best combination.

He is the best coach in the world, results orientated, straight talking with strong coaching ability. Very very lucky to have him. Pakistani ex player coaches are all talk no effect no results just hot air.

Exactly, and he doesn't give a damn about seniority. He treats the seniors the same way as the juniors - see how he read out the riot act to Wahab Riaz for poor attitude in training, and dropping Hafeez in New Zealand.

These bitter ex-players sit in TV studios who bash him on a daily basis had their chance to make a difference and they did nothing but collect their paycheck.

+1
Even though I am not a big fan oh his tactics, he is basically in kind of jang with seniors, ex cricketers and journos. Right now doing pretty well.

Yes in Current scenario.

Until complete peace in Pakistan we cannot pull off Bigger Names like Fleming, Langer, Moody etc.

Couldn't have said it better. Pity with our ex players not pursuing anything constructive as a coach. Along with Inzy, Saeed Anwar, Wasim, Waqar and etc neither of the big mouths in Abdul Qadir and Javed Miandad (who both hold an agenda against MA) have been able to pass their traits to their successors.

Arthur isn't a big name ? He helped develop South Africa's ATG team and took them to #1 in Test rankings, and even though his tenure with Australia was unsuccessful he did help groom Warner and Starc in Test team.

He's won Champions Trophy with Pakistan and has taken us to #1 in both Tests and T20Is.

Seems to be getting a lot of good press in England - but Pakistanis will judge him based upon what his side does in England

In the recent interview with Michael Atherton, he did say the current Pakistan dressing room is the best he has been in his career. He stated that the CT campaign were the best weeks of his career and he wants to be involved with the Pakistan team for a long time.

He genuinely seems enthusiastic about the future of this young team and has really taken to the job. I think we are blessed that such a renowned international coach has become such a passionate well wisher for Pakistan.

Najam Sethi please extend his contract to the 2023 World Cup. Do not let any other team touch him.

I wish Pak keep performing like that. I Hope We have MA as coach for 20 years. Really in love with This team and Mickey Arthur

He himself wants this job for a long time. He said he's only scratched the surface.

If someone like India or England offer him a substantially bigger package he himself might not like to extend.

In any case he has been great for Pakistan cricket.

Glad you are seeing the light.

Now we need to wait for Slog and Abdul to do likewise.

What are your thoughts now? About Azhar opening in Test Cricket. He is best no.3 which Pakistan found after so many years. Regardless of his average at opening being inflated it was never going to work long term - as perfectly demonstrated this series. He is our best batsmen and should be coming at one down - or even batting at number 4. You are wasting him as an opener. Now Pak hav a problem at no.1 and no.3.

Bro now what do you think!! Dont be fooled by averages. Azhar is being wasted at opening - should be batting at 3 or even four in my opinion. T20 players with no proven first class experience playing test cricket. No genuine strike bowlers. All i can say is Pakistan are very lucky to go away with 1-1 result - thanks to Root.
