Is Misbah's friendship with Saeed Ajmal allowing the latter to still make a living from cricket?

Ever since Saeed Ajmal's bowling action was deemed illegal, he had to change his action and comeback with a new legal action. However, that legal action had no spin or turn in his bowling.

Basically, Ajmal was more like a hafeez type bowler. Bowling at good lengths and not being able to spin, which resultant in batsmen attacking him, or some taking their revenge

Without the spin, Ajmal is just a domestic level bowler, but yet he ends up playing in leagues where Misbah is the captain. Be it PSL or HKT20 Blitz, Misbah being his friend always gets Ajmal a contract probably.

But once Misbah retires, does this also mean the end of Ajmal in cricket?

Misbah keeping the Pakistani tradition alive, he is taking care of his friends like Hafeez, Rahat, Ajmal and people he has developed good relations taking care of him like SYK and Inzi. Love it.

He does. Ajmal is finished. Nothing without his chucking abilities

I can honestly and sincerely say I didn't see that coming - OP questioning the great man's integrity ?? :O :O

I guess since the end is near everyone seems to be abandoning ship :yk

So are you implying that Misbah selects his friends ??

:)) oh man!

I dont even know why PSL teams select ajmal. I think its just because of his previous performances before he was called for chucking. Maybe next year he wont be selected.

Watching a match live. Commentators saying while Ajmal is bowling that Ajmal has been the bowler of the tournament so far. So What you say to that Major?

Ajmal figures in the 3 matches in this tournament:

4 overs 0/19 economy of 4.75 - Opposition team scored at 9.36

4 overs 2/25 economy of 6.25 - Opposition team scored at 9.15

Today match

4 overs 4/29 economy of 7.25 - Opposition team scored at 8.40

Don't know about other games but this game he bowled towards the end as well. The 18th and the 20th overs.

Commentator said a couple of times that Ajmal was bowler of the tournament so far. His figures backs up that claim.

Yeah and tbh i dont mind Ajmal still making a living from cricket as long as he stays away from International Cricket.

Oi, watch what you're saying son. Everyone wants to be friends with Rahat. :rahat1

ajmal bought a lot of success for Misbah as a captain, it is only fair that Misbah now returns the favour.

if i answer this question, you end up generalizing the whole thing.

Misbah always gives preference to those people who he has seen playing from his own eyes. He selects those people that he has been seeing performing from his own eyes, not from stats or word of mouth. Obviously, this means Misbah selects from his own team then, because its those guys who he watches, he can't watch other players as he doesn't play for their teams and doesnt know whats happening, thats the job of selectors to look not his.

As for Ajmal, i think Misbah has always allowed him to get selected due to their friendship. Ajmal isn't the same bowler as he use to be, but Misbah helps him alot.

Its not a bad thing if this friendship stays at domestic level tournaments, its only bad if its international

Misbah has been captaining us for almost seven years now, do you think this trait of his (The one that I have bold) was something that he could've at least not indulged in when playing for Pakistan. A lot of times many youngsters were deprived of opportunities since Misbah preferred senior pros like Hafeez, Malik etc ??

again, was that misbah's fault taht the selectors didn't bother to go to domestic games and watch those guys actually played.

The selections Misbah made were based on what he saw from his eyes. Selectors made selection based on stats, good example is Usman Salahuddin.

It's a little annoying when people ask a question in the thread title but then make a statement in the OP. Either you are asking or you are stating, make up your mind.

As for the topic at hand, Ajmal is being selected for these leagues because he was the last cricketer to achieve superstar status from Pakistan. As long as you have a name, you will continue to get gigs in T20 leagues. Just ask Afridi or Gayle. Misbah has nothing at all to do with Ajmal being a sought-after commodity.
