What are your thoughts on Muhammad Amir's decision to take a break from International cricket under the current management? Is it the right decision or do you think that he is making the wrong decision?

Yes. All he wanted was to make money by hook or crook. He is free now and can just play all the leagues in the world and secure future of his kids. Everyone is free to decide what they want and he did not get support from current management to pick and choose. So off he goes, ironically to United Kingdom. Pretty sure he will get some good gigs there.

It actually doesn’t matter, In most countries, even in Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, this serial cheater wouldn’t be a candidate for the national teams selection. He should have been thrown out of international cricket by PCB rather than being given the privilege and honour of retiring from it.

His greedy mindset hasn't changed much. Its better for him and Pakistan cricket. I think PCB should ban him from even local and PSL matches as well. Let him play in those second class leagues.

Good riddance. The departure of Sami Aslam and Amir's reported retirement are rare positives in this gloomy year. 2 less entitled brats in Pakistan cricket

Someone passionate enough to want to play for his country will do everything required to try instead of throwing tantrums or retiring

Its ok. It will not affect us much. This retirement is just a excuse to play in every leauge and IPL. We dont even play so much Tests for him to breake down. Was a huge fan of him but he lost all respect from me. You dont play in domestics of country and complain. He wants instant glorification.

Instead of being angry, I actually feel extremely depressed. I still had hope that he will somehow turn a corner by working on his issues and comeback.

Feels like the toxic woman I loved finally decided to break up with me.
Forever will be a tale of Pakistan's unrequited love for Amir.

Let me tell you, mark my word, bookmark this thread, he will come back. Will take his decision back.

My sentiments exactly.

You think back to 2009, and what could've been. It really hurts.

Exactly my feelings at the moment...

Ah Amir :(

Pakistani retirements are rarely permanent. A comeback is likely under a new coach with better communication skills.

Ofcourse he will. This decision is more to do with his beef with the current team management.

All I can say is, this guy is a proper ehsaan faramosh aadmi. Nowhere else in the world would he have been allowed to resume cricketing activities, but in Pakistan he was adored and inducted into the team with the same hype that was attached to him back when he made his debut.

Backed him quite a bit, but his decision to retire from Tests was rubbish and now this decision makes me think he never gave two cents about Pakistan. His performance in the NT20 was pitiful, and everyone in the current team had much better performances than this entitled brat.

It is a blessing in disguise for him. Instead of getting thrashed left, right, centre as part of Pakistan’s rubbish team, he can now move from league to league and be a part of successful teams and gain adequate rest in-between.

He can also move to the UK and play County. This uncertainty over his future was not good for his mental well-being as well, so this is a very good call for his mental peace as well. Now he can move on with his family and put this chapter behind him.

The funniest bit is he’s getting all the retirement messages from ICC etc right now (“which Amir spell was your favorite?”) and is probably regretting the way he phrased his disappointment with the current management! How to dig yourself out of this hole?

Well said.

Amir's bank transfer from LPL probably just came in and he realised where his loyalties really lie.

Good for him, now he can earn quick bucks from leagues and settle down in the UK.

In all fairness, he was being misused . I don’t remember if it was Mickey who was the than coach but he was literally being made to bowl against absolute minnows. I don’t know amir , he always seemed a very cunning guy to me , even in that interview to mike Atherton he was showing no remorse. That isn’t to say he is still the guy he was a decade back. Even if he is a cheat he still has a valid point. His workload was being managed by absolute idiots. Nevertheless he played for a country not a cricket board. He has let down millions by his work ethics. I hope PCB would ensure proper management of players.

Wait till the WC they will bring him back.

Would be a massive mistake, there can't be much doubt about his lack of integrity now. Putting him in a WC game would be like inviting him to throw a big game for old time's sake. This guy is only about making money now, he lost his love for the game back in his teenage years.

The amount of love he got from Pakistan fans you wouldnt get it in another country.wasnt passionate enough and wanted to make quick money but i hope he enjoyes his tournaments hes going to play in.

He is one of the most lethal bowlers in the world, all he needed was a bit of motivation and assurance that he has got the team management's support. We may still see him in league cricket, but it's a huge loss to Pakistan cricket and fans of cricket all over the world.

I'm failing to understand what else PCB could have done for him.

If he's unhappy with selection policy, well prove that you deserve to be picked to the selectors.

But all this mental torture stuff is weird.

We don't such softies in the team. Good riddance. He has just proven today that pampering and fast tracking him back into the team was a blunder in hindsight

Yes, his behaviour has been strange. I wonder who is advising him like this.

I am sure one day he will look back at his career and will realise how he ruined his career TWICE!!!!
