He carried the burden of over a billions' hope on his broad shoulder for a long time by wearing the captain's armband.He brought ODI world cup,the ultimate dream of everyone for his nation as captain.He won champions trophy,he won T20 world cup,he led his team to no 1 in test rankings.He is Mr. captain cool.

Yes, i am talking about the one and only, about Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

ODI's its Gilly way ahead. Technically Gilly was a terrific keeper(second to only Boucher in his era ).

Great with pace and very good with spin(kept to Warne !) .. Though for spin alone Dhoni would be GOAT in ODI's . Dhoni's stumping ability is unprecedented.

Also you have to factor the sheer destruction with Gilly's bat . Topped ICC ODI ranking for many consecutive years.!! Dhoni only edges him if we take captaincy as well . But Gilly never got a long run in that ..


PS: Don't think Sangakkara's impact on ODI's with both bat and gloves is anywhere near Dhoni/Gilly .. These two guys are the definitions of Wicket-Keeper-Batsmen

MSD is better than Gilly with the gloves in ODI's. The alertness of MSD has won India many matches when he is keeping. Countless runouts happened just because MSD was alert enough.

Gilly is a superior bat who can shred the opposition from Ball 1. MSD is a grafter in the beginning and then hits the big shots.

Over all, it is very hard to choose for me. Both are GOATs.

Gilchrist is the most influential WK batsman of all time, but Dhoni is one of the very best players in ODI history. Very hard to choose between the two in this format.

Overall, Gilchrist wins because he was at a different level to Dhoni in Tests.

No it was Kalu who started hitting from opening, and as I said before Msd play at very tough position , he can make any odi atg only as batsman at no. 5 or 6 ? Can Gilly make any odi atg team purely as batsman ? He was not even the best opner from his team, Hayden and Waugh were both better as a opener.
Simple question as a batsman Sehwag , Sanath or Dhoni ? Sehwag and Sanath were same as Gilly
