Najam Sethi was earlier unanimously elected as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Chairman for the next three years by the PCB’s new Board of Governors.

All ten members of the BoG voted for Sethi to be the successor to the outgoing Shahryar Khan. Sethi has received plaudits for the success of the PSL, of which he is the Chairman.

Is he the right choice?

I'm not too sure what to say because I don't know much about him very well but from what I've seen so far he seems to be a guy who knows how to organise stuff, like he was the reason why the PSL exists today but also seems to come across as a tyrant for some reason.

I voted No.

The only thing going for him is the PSL and the Champion's trophy victory.

Things that I feel he is not adressing:

1. Pakistan's inability to hold its own value in the ICC comittee and stupidly signing an MOU, allowing India to take their gains but not knowing the MOU meant nothing from a legal perspective. Pakistan is owed Millions of dollars because of his stupidity.

2. The excessive pay roll. Silly amounts of money being handed to highly unqualified administrators and not a decent proportion to the hundreds of Professionals struggling in the domestic circuit.

3. Not taking a firm stand against India in ICC events. If they do not want anything to do with Pakistan, it should be that way everywhere. I care less for the 2 points India get, I care far more for the pride of my country that is being humiliated, isolated by a money hungry board only caring about its own personal benefit.

4. His public statements about how he has 'concrete evidence' against someone for match fixing. Yet this concrete evidence is useless in convicting the person upto now and has dragged on for months.

5. His spontaneous ideas in running the PSL. The final of the tournament was a failure due to the fact that the key players that helped reach one of the teams in the final opted out of travelling to a venue. Instead, other foreigners played in the finals and I am sure the local players of Quetta would have been a better choice to represent instead of those domestic failures, let alone International rejects. Seems like Sethi sab makes contracts that really have no value in a court of justice.

Politics shouldn't be involved in sports, and this man along with others are political picks. Once Sharif was ousted, his nomination should have been disqualified.

Great... better than the current chairman even though he also makes up rubbish just so he can run to the media.

I voted yes and simply because he is intelligent and execute the plans rather than talking only. He made the PSL possible and because of the PSL players we won the champions trophy. He is trying his best to bring cricket back home. And don’t forget how he snatched the 3 ODI series in South Africa when India refused to play in SA due to political reasons in 2013, a series we ended up winning 

We became the #1 test nation and Champions Trophy winner under in Najam Sethi era but I’m sure this nation don’t like hard working people and the vote cast above shows that.

One of the most intelligent men in the country.

What because he thought a MOU with BCCI was a legal binding contract???

I know he went to Cambridge but I doubt he got in on the grounds of merit - he's not very bright at all as evident from the above line. Has poor media and social sense as well.

It's 8:4 now, in terms of negativity, which is a bit surprising, because I think he did quite well in his role at PSL. But, I probably am not the best person to vote in this, based on PSL only.

No he is not. Then again who else were the candidates? He won't improve Pak Cricket in any way. We are not playing anyone for months where as everyone else is.

Yes. Results speak for themselves.

Pakistan cricket is going in the right direction since he took over.

Yes he is people may disagree but he has done better for Pakistan cricket than anyone else in the last 10 years.

No. I've ran out of patience with Sethi. This guy is a joker - all flash and no substance whatsoever. Let's go through the chargesheet:

1) The National T20 debacle last summer where our players were randomly called back from their CPL and County deals for fitness tests only for the tournament to be delayed and ultimately scrapped.

2) Domestic cricket (except his precious PSL) is rotting under his watch. The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy schedule was appallingly cramped allowing insufficient time for curators to prepare pitches adequately. The pitches themselves were so poor that the average 1st innings total this season in the QEA Trophy was LOWER than Zimbabwe's Logan Cup !

We had a farcical match between Lahore Blues and SNGPL where the match concluded in four and a half sessions despite 7 internationally capped players featuring ! Another game had to be abandoned in Lahore due to a poor pitch and outfield.

3) No effort to introduce a fixed domestic schedule. The FC season is played during Oct-Dec when the weather conditions in the North are very seam friendly leading to paltry scores being commonplace.

4) Wasting time and resources chasing this bloody MOU.

5) The T10 saga was badly handled.

6) Failure to arrange regular international cricket, leading to long gaps in the schedule that means our players are undercooked when they return for national duty. Meaningless World XI series or one-offs against West Indies so you can boast to your political allies in an Election year that you "brought cricket home" doesn't count.

7) Neglecting to arrange A team series. Under Shehryar Khan, we had A team series home and away with England Lions plus tours of Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

The only good things I can think of is the introduction of the Dukes ball (which was probably an Inzamam intervention as I doubt Sethi as the first clue what the difference between Dukes/Kookaburra even is) and keeping the PSL going. Otherwise, he's been a DOWNGRADE on Shehryar Khan.

No, because there was no choice. Cronies and sinecures all of them.

Wait till Sethi fans jump on you.

The guy is there due to a political appointment, nothing more. He has shown his incompetence again and again.

Nicely summarized.

What's worse is he is letting his media buddies like Shakeel Snake induct his sons and nephews in domestic teams and high profile tournaments.

Also he has banned Sharjeel after claiming that he has over-whelming evidence and making us believe that Sharjeel was caught with a smoking gun in his hand, but its been about a year and we are yet to see any of this evidence.
