I feel that the earlier one for 2020 (postponed to 2022) gave us a better chance but maybe not that easy?

TBH I didn't want Afghanistan in our group. I hope Pakistan doesn't lose against them as they will be a very dangerous side in UAE conditions.

Zazai is very good t20 batsman and especially batting second against Rashid Khan & Noor would be tricky.

Contrary to the popular belief here in Pakpassion, Pakistani batsmen actually struggle on low & slow type wickets.

God save us from embarrassment.

Australia, India, Windies and Afghanistan are all amazing T20 sides. Whichever group we played, it would still be incredibly difficult to qualify. Such is the nature of a World Cup.

Don’t care if we have the easier group or not, we have to beat the best to be the best.

We’ll beat New Zealand easily.

We’ll lose to Afghanistan

We’ll beat Bangladesh

We’ll beat Ireland

We have to beat India, end the streak once and for all.

New Zealand & West Indies would've most probably qualified from the original group.
New Zealand & India would most probably quality from the new revised group. Pakistan would lose one of the games against Afghanistan or Bangladesh & would be beaten by both India & New Zealand.

We shall lose to Afghanistan is given? mtlb khuch b... they have 25% chance tu beat us but that's about it. what the hell they have achieved to get so feared of them.

They would’ve beaten us in Asia cup had it not been for Shoaib Malik.

They have amazing spinners, and the conditions in UAE will be suited to them!

They have decent power hitters, and if they bat first and put a total on board, then I’d back them to defend it.

When was the last time Pakistan went unbeaten in a tournaments group stage, there’s always been a game where we lose to a team that we should be beating. Afghanistan will be a bigger threat than New Zealand, just because of the fact it’s being held in UAE.

I expect Afghanistan to beat New Zealand, Bangladesh and Ireland. They’ll probably finish 3rd, just below Pakistan.

It depends.

Rashid Khan only did well in one or two PSL games, he didn't get a truckload of wickets, and batsmen were more than happy to just play him out.

Noor Ahmad was a similar case, he wasn't in breath-taking form, he was just doing better than KK's other bowlers which made him stand out.

Mujeeb was quite useless throughout the PSL because batsmen figured him out and dealt with him.

If we bat first and put up around 180-ish, it should be more than enough to overpower Afghanistan's batsmen.

I think that our 15-man squad for the world cup should include Shoiab Malik to cover that weakness on slower wickets where running is important.

Lol if anything it got easier. :91:

Australia and West Indies collectively are a lot tougher than India and Afghanistan.

Newzealand is a very good team, dunno why posters are underrating them.
Munro destroyed attacks in PSL dubai edition, Williamson's slow and steady approach might suit on spin favourable pitches. Conway and Young are pretty good players too.

It's because others ( WI, Aus, Eng, Ind ) are far superior in comparison.

Pakistan hasn't beaten India in T20 wc?

Losing to India will take the pressure of Pakistan and will help rekindle a flame within the squad to raise their game while playing the game in a more relaxed frame of mind so the sooner we get that game out of the way the better it is regardless of the result

History is going to be made in the UAE. Pakistan will be beating India in the UAE. You can bump it up.

This one is actually far better for us.

The two qualifiers are likely to be Bangladesh and Afg.

While India is probably going to beat us, we have a good chance against NZ. NZ is a fantastic t20 team at home and maybe in SENA, but their batters are untested and inexperienced for UAE which has quite abrasive pitches. Plus their young batters aren't very good at playing spin either. Plus it neutralizes the threat of free wheeling Finn Allen(his batting style not conducive in UAE). Guptill is not as good in Asia, Glenn Philips is unproven.

It all depends on the form we are in, if we are playing well, we can easily defeat Afg and Ban. Afg has a lot of t20 names but don't have many wins against the top 8 except WI.
Bangladesh is actually a bit weaker t20 team in 2021 than it was in 2016.

Pitching ourselves against Australia, WI, SL, South Africa, England is far more difficult.

meh..... heard that many times around for decades.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

The quote doesn't quite make sense here as it's a new/different game every time, but okay.

"same thing" refers to the same action of trying to beat India by pakistan in a world cup.

Different game but attempt is same.

Sure they’re out of form, but that doesn’t mean they’re no longer a threat. The way they played in the Asia Cup and the fact they came so close to beating us tells you that we can’t take them lightly.

All they lack is pace bowlers and a couple of batsmen that have the ability to play the full 20 overs. I’d say Pakistan are 70/30 favourites but
I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat us.

Yeah, I’d take Shoaib Malik too, but I think the current management have moved on from him, it’s a shame cuz he missed out on the WC in 2011 in conditions that are suited to him

So basically some posters think for Pakistan chances, former group was better and some think the later. Nothing can please you all . Another victim card thrown lol

Its an easier group - can see us coming second if not first. If we finally manage to beat India in a WC it would be a cherry on top!

You can write the script of the Pakistan-India clash already.

If Pakistan bowls first:

India 183/5
Pakistan 137/8

If Pakistan bats first:

Pakistan 139/8
India 140/3 in 17.4 overs

Either way, Babar will play an average innings like he always has against India. Indian bowling will continue to prove too good for him.

Idk why so many people are overrating Afghanistan... yes they have good spinners and it’s in the UAE but they are definitely not favourites to qualify. They will likely finish last in the group and lose all their matches against (India, Pakistan and NZ). They are improving but don’t have the maturity to make it to the top hence they lost every single game at the 2019 WC despite giving India and Pakistan a tough time. Pakistan have played at the UAE consistently for over a decade and India will get some practice with the IPL there just before the World Cup so it’s not a matter of afghanis facing “home conditions”. NZ always adapt well to most conditions and knocked India out for 79 in India in the last t20 World Cup 2016 so no reason why they can’t perform in the UAE. However if Afghanistan do pull off an unlikely victory it will probably be because of a Pakistan batting collapse while chasing so they can’t be complacent.

Afghanistan will bowl 16 overs of spin, and all four of their spinners are world class(rashid, nabi, muzeeb, noor) so it's gonna be difficult to score above 160 against them in UAE.

I'd take Shoaib Malik in case the pitches really start ripping about for the spinners.

I do have a feeling that ICC will purposely curate spinning pitches for Afghanistan, because they do think of Rashid as a type of superstar.

Right now, I think my 15-man squad would be:

Batsmen:
Babar Azam
Fakhar Zaman
Sohaib Maqsood
Mohammad Hafeez (part-time bowler)
Shoaib Malik (part-time bowler)

Wicket-keepers:
Mohammad Rizwan
Azam Khan

All-Rounders:
Shadab Khan
Imad Wasim

Spinners:
Usman Qadir

Pacers:
Hasan Ali
Shaheen Shah Afridi
Haris Rauf
Mohammad Hasnain
Mohammad Amir

Amir's inclusion depends on the results he produces at CPL and The Hundred.

Malik's inclusion depends on whether or not the management thinks his services are needed, which in my opinion, they are.

Plenty of bowling options and decent batsmen as well.

I think babar Achilles feet against india is his spin playing ability under pressure. If he can overcome that then he will do well

Erm. There's no fun in winning a World T20 by having an easy road.

I don't know what was Pakistan or for that matter India's previous group fixtures for original 2020 T20 WC, but clearly India and Pakistan are in a much easier group. Group A is a group of death. And if somehow England gets knocked out, its a real chance for someone in Group B to win it

Pakistan still got a good chance of getting to semis. Only need to beat NZ. It’s the easiest group they could have wished for in this format

Afghanistan have the best spin bowlers, imagine what they’ll do to our batsmen.

Afghanistan will beat Pakistan, unless we bring Malik back. Someone who can at least play spin.

If Maqsood, Hafeez are playing for Pakistan in T20 WC phir to Allah hi bachaye

Pakistan have a tough group.

India and New Zealand should be tricky. Afghanistan are always dangerous on spinning condition.

The match that scares me most is the one against Afghanistan. Everyone fully expects India to beat us, so if we win it'll be great, but if we lose nobody will be particularly surprised. Even New Zealand, I feel we can beat.

Afghanistan though have come remarkably close to beating us...twice. On those UAE wickets their spinners will be a handful. And a loss against them would be utterly humiliating.

Pakistan desperately need Malik back for the WC. His form in the PSL earns him a spot.

As I stated many times, modern day cricket is a business, and what matter in business is money.

They wanted the India/Pak guaranteed game, cuz THAT'S where the money is.

I still think; however, that it's relatively an easy group for Pak now.

The Afghanistan game could be a banana peel, so Pak should play ruthless game and don't let them breathe.

The most dangerous team IMO is WI.

Their batting power is terrorizing for the opposition.

No, it’s been hampered by it’s Chief Selector.

Mohammad Wasim will be the reason why Pakistan don’t make it out of the group stages.

I truly hope Ramiz Raja does us all a favour and gets rid of the biggest disease in Pakistan cricket.
