Out bowlers are no geniuses, but even then they know more about bowling than a wicket keeper. Advice is not bad but to control every bowl is just too much. You can hear him shouting and panicking every time Shadab drifts away from his designated line and length, googly is forbidden from what I understand. Even to the faster bowler he was trying to dictate everything.

I wanted to smack him because the sheer number of instructions were too many for me as a spectator, bowlers might want to pull their hair out. I say this being a sarfraz lover. And this is not a reaction to yesterday's loss, I have observed this in earlier matches too.

+ he was not allowing bowler to settle specially imad and shadab changing too frequently just after 2 over spells.

if instructions are too difficult to follow, one must be dumb in the first place.

you are playing cricket, not writing a thesis. how many instructions could Sarfraz have crammed in their heads?

3? 7? 10?

International bowlers need not to be told how to bowl every single ball.

they are humans with a thinking head on their shoulders. They can tell the captain what fields they want to ball. No one was forcing them to ball a specific line on gunpoint.

Or maybe you are suggesting Sarfraz is too big a player that his word cant be questioned?

Have you even watched a single match of this series till now?

Every time Shadab has tried to bowl different, sarfraz has blown up and shouted at him, even bowling googlies gets him into trouble.

If you think this was annoying for the players, I think you haven't seen Imran Khan. Back in his day, if you refused to do what he said, you would not only be dropped but permanently discarded. There is a reason IK saw so many successes. You can get bashed but listen to what the captain says. Its better in the long run.

the only time i saw sarfraz shouting at shadab was when he bowled a half tracker googly 3rd time in the over which was dispatched for four.

Imran's instructions weren't micromanaging each bowl... waqar was told to ball his heart out speed not worry about line and length wasim was told to not worry about no balls or wides but to do his best ... imran did give instructions on batting ... don't get out on a loose shot? in certain situations ... the only person who didn't care was wasim raja and imran held wasim raja in high regards so much so he carried ramiz raja thinking perhaps some of that talent might have been given to him as well ... i didn't see imran running each ball to the bowler or shouting instructions ... if anything if a bowler did deliver a bad ball imran encouraged... not yell and show frustration and destroy the bowlers confidence ... the only place where he would really yell at was fielding

Not following the match because of I have been extremely busy today but came across this in cricinfo commentary, "Shadab's bowling is beautiful to watch, Sarfaraz got to let him bowl on his own terms."

True that , sarfraz tries to dominate too much. I dont know why shadab is bowling his googly less now , he surely bowls it beautifully.

Wasim relishes recalling how Imran would be in his ear every single ball.

What does this thread mean.

It means a captain shouldn't need to instruct bowlers too regularly on how/where to bowl. Especially if it's done in a ranting manner.

Sarfraz needs to learn from Dhoni, stay cool and stay focused, make plans in the dressing room and only intervene if adjustment is needed.

What I meant was that it is a pointless thread. He is Sarfraz, not Dhoni. Everyone has his own style and way of doing things. There is no right or wrong way when it comes to communicating with the players. This seems like criticism for the sake of criticism.

We know he isn't Dhoni and maybe there isn't a right way but his way seems wrong. Esp under pressure, as we witnessed in the first ODI, Sarfraz needs to change his attitude on the field as this isn't helpful to the bowlers.

Sarfraz just needs to calm down...a lot! He shouts too much and puts his own players under bad pressure. NOt happy let's do this pressure but more "oh **** I hope I don't mess up" pressure.

The blame culture continues. Yes, Sarfaraz is removing their freedom by giving instructions which is why they're resorting to bowling crap....

I miss the time when we were beating everyone when Azhar was captain.

So are you implying that to have success or to develop good bowlers , you have to be a dictator and train them to follow commands and not think themselves ?
If Sarfaraz needs to tell them how to bowl each bowl or bowl in fear that they will be dropped , then that's dictatorship and not a harmonious team . might as well drop the coach too because the captain is doing that job as well

maybe its too much...

but I prefer his style much more than the do-nothing laid back style of our previous 2 captains

all of Pakistan's best LOI captains have been controlling personalities- Imran, Inzi, Wasim...
thats just what our players respond to

In the previous game the bowlers bowled a lot of short ball rubbish on a docile pitch. Sarfraz has every right as a captain on telling his bowlers how to bowl
