Is scoring 178 runs in a full days worth of Test cricket acceptable?

The aim of batting in a test match is to score runs. The batsmen never had the intent to score runs. Is it acceptable to bat in a such a manner especially in the first innings?

Ramiz needs to be sacked

A cricketer chairman yet our cricket is turning into a joke

Regardless of the result, the whole team should be suspended from representing international team for a year !

What does Ramiz have to do with batsmen who have played more test matches than Ramiz and yet cannot understand how to score at a good pace so you can win?

I’m talking about Azhar ali

The management is to blame obviously. If you stick with Azhar, Fawad type players for years and years, and expect results to change magically - then that's not happening.

They replaced Imran Butt with Abdullah Shafique- look at the results. Replaced Sarfaraz with Rizwan.

If you keep sticking like a dumb idiot with mediocre players, then the results will also be mediocre.

Yes , it is acceptable when your entire aim was to not lose the test in series. That was the mindset of administrators when they doctored the pitch and the same mindset is present in players.

What a dull series this has been.

Why not have pitches like SA series and if you are not good enough to win then you don't win. Or just turning tracks to test Aus batting. Aus batting has looked in no trouble in the entire series so far.

Ramiz has just taken over. You can’t expect him to drop the full team and magically get another playing eleven from thin air. So the people that are blaming him I think you are wrong. It will take time for his changes to come through.

Azhar, Fawad and Shafique Having a strike rate of 30 is unacceptable. What makes it worse it is a very flat pitch. It’s not one match they have had the same strike rate in every match. It is beyond ridiculous. Strike rate of even 50 would be good. They bat with no intent and just block all day. They are playing for a draw before the match even begins

Anything below 250 for a day's play is way too low.

Actually, first inning depending on circumstances getting 250 on the first day is not bad, but scoring 170 odd runs in the entire day. I guess batting out time ...

Ramiz is a salesman. That’s all he is.

All this talk about creating an attacking brand of cricket lol

As a consumer I'd want my money back. I don't want to attend a game and see defensive, negative batting. Its a real bore. Yes it is test cricket but really teams should be trying to score at at least close to 3 runs per over unless you are in Day 5 survival mode.

Am i the only one who feels Imam is not good enough to play at this level. He is a sitting duck on wickets which provides bit of help to pace bowlers. I don't see him surviving 5 overs in SENA countries.

Your opinion has 0 value. You are a proven hater and I am yet to hear a single positive thing from you. Mamoon 2.0

170 in a day was acceptable on uncovered pitches in the 1950s with the ball seaming at right angles. Not in this day and age !

Terrible cricket, they wanted a draw out of this Test. Deserve to lose this, really hope we don’t manage to get out of jail for this one.

Is there a rule against it? Its test cricket, get over it.

No rule against it, but what are they trying to achieve ? The aim of the game is to score runs, and win the match, if you are not scoring runs in the first innings then you are obviously not wanting to win.

And if any of the pakistani players say they were trying to win the match with that batting display, well then some room temperature IQs are present.

Mindset to play for a draw right from Day 1 of the first test all the way to Day 3 of 3rd test..

Shambolic display of cricket altogether from the team, management and those who doctored pitches to go defensive right from the tour date was announced... Talking about Misbah and defensive go hand in hand but this is on a different level of negativity that would beat Misbah hands down....

I think we were okay till lunch. Slow yes, but okay. It's that period after Fawad came in when it all went to hell. 20 runs in 14 or something overs is horrible. Especially when you are around 240-3.

Babar Azam is the only one who played positive.

Look at the strike rates of Abdullah Shafique Azhar Ali and Fawad alam. This is what happens when you go in a shell. Our batsmen are just too defensive.

No team bats this negatively or slow at home Pakkistan shouldve been pushing on to to win this test today

Id like to have a chat with coach and captain to find out what the strategy was today as it looks like just like every game they are just trying to draw it

Not sure team getting suspended but I am not watching this joke of a cricket. Wasted whole day for this boring tuk tuk. Absolutely pathetic mindset and no one is to answer. I have officially given up on test cricket.

This is very true - we always have this loser mentality “oh there’s no one better so let’s stick with this mediocre player”.

Honestly sick of these guys

I think talent and intent are correlated. Imagine Sehwag, Afridi or Jayasuriya on these pitches.

So it only took Australia 49 overs to score the same amount of runs, on the same pitch.

Not acceptable unless pitch is minefield.. where conditions are really tough.
This was a flat dead wicket and RR of 3 is minimum.
