Is the “No-Look” Six now a signature shot of Pakistani batsmen? (And other ways Pakistani batsmen can change batting culture in the country for good)

What do you guys think? Much like the scoop shot being linked to Dilshan, the flick of the hips being attributed to Caribbean batsmen and frustratingly slower deliveries reminding us of Indian pacers, is the No Look Six now a trademark of Pakistani batsmen, or if it isn’t yet, should Pakistani batsmen play more daring and eye catching shots to light up Instagram reels and YouTube shorts to get out of their fear of failure mindset ?

Pakistan needs a batting revival for sure, is sprinkling this sort of flair into Pakistan’s batting what you Pakistanis need to inspire a surge and inspiration of batting talent?

Sahi Pakde ho! it's about time EVERY Pakistani batter owns it from opener to tailender.

For too long, Pakistani batters have been shackled by the fear-of-failure mindset .. a toxic hesitation that turns a world-class talent into timid shadows of themselves. Say No More!! Every single player, from the opener facing the new ball to the tailender swinging for glory, must embrace daring shots like no-looks, ramps, and scoops as their birthright.

Make it mandatory from nets to matches and leave a no look legacy for future generations of Pakistani batsmen.

I get where you are coming from. These moments of flair do excite us Cricket fans, but this sadly does nothing for the batting culture of a nation, just like the iconic Dil-scoop did nothing for Sri Lanka.

What Indian batters or any successful batters these days have is a “Method to their Madness”. Not just fearlessness.

Pakistani cricketers for long has hid behind the rhetoric that “Talent bahut hai, lekin Board is failing them”.

All the successful Indian batters now - Abhishek (impeccable swing through the line), Sanju (proper hookish technique) or Rishab Pant (robust defense) etc were successful because they had solid technique.
Same case with leading batters such as Harry brook or Dewald brevis. Its not the fancy shots.

Even Washington Sundar played these No-look shots in Australia in 2021. Brevis plays this no-look sixes with perfection.

Pakistani batters never focussed on improving their techniques. I am amazed that Saim being a youngster is weak against shot ball / pace. Babar’s technique got exposed and he never even tried to improve. And here we are talking about having trademark shots for Pakistani batters.

This thread is in line with current trend of PR hyped players like Saim and Babar who are just as mediocre players like many in other teams.

While I am not a fan of Farhan’s batting style, he is at-least effective in slogging and power game. All this PR hype will only take his focus away from game as he will be found out very quickly IMO. Only if Pakistan coaches / support staff can make his game more adaptable, then at-least he wont take the Saim / Babar’s path.

I personally think no-look shot shouldn't be played. Batter should always watch the ball in case ball doesn't clear the boundary and he misses out on a run. :inti

I am personally not a fan of no-look and Dilscoop.

It is very hard to be an attacking high tempo batter in a top 6 that is weak/uncertain. Thus I feel we should cut likes of Saim and Maaz slack for the inevitable runs of failures that their batting style will attract.

Take a look at someone like Ishan Kishan. In his first iteration as a T20I cricketer he was an unsure batter prone to getting stuck against spin and pace. Now 3 years later he is part of such a well settled lineup that he knows he can simply always take the aggressive option when in doubt and the rest of the team will absorb his failure rate. Nothing has significantly changed technique wise in his game. He still has similiar strengths and weaknesses but now his mindset is completely different.

Put Ishan in a PCT batting lineup and he will revert to being a limp 25 avg 125-130 SR player with the occasional big knock propping his numbers up

Saim has no power. He is trying to use the pace of bowlers to clear 60 meter boundary behind the wicket and try to look cool. He neither has the intimidation factor nor has the wow factor. Sooryavanshi has both.

Yes. It has become a pet shot of young Pakistani batters. None play them as better as batters in Pakistan. Not even Indian batters.

I wouldn't say its signature shot for Pakistani batsmen, alot of young batsmen do it these days. Dewald Brevis is another guy that tends to do it alot.

One shot that I don’t see enough of from our batsmen is the ramp shot.

If you struggle to hit a bouncer in front of square, why can’t you just look to use the pace of the ball and ramp it?

This is the signature move of Pakistan, the single most iconic moment of your cricketing history.

Tbh if you are a proper first class or club cricketer yourself you know how hard this shot it to pull off.

The fact that this is a Pakistani signature now shows the talent is there.

But these batsmen need an incentive and guarantee that playing with flair won’t result in punishment but with reward.

Pakistan has to master "look" shot properly before talking about "no look" shot. Whole team was stripped naked by Nahid Rana on a slow wicket.

Boring answer, not interested.

This is the out of the box era now uncle.

Anything but the conventional.

no you don’t get where I am coming from. You are still operating from inside the box which I have left in the dust and am thinking outside of.

Time is up for thinking xyz master coach will teach Pak players the perfect forward defense and if Pak batsmen are not hitting cover drives with the current angle to match air resistance on the cricket ball then it’s curtains.

No, nobody in Pakistan cricket setup has the patience for these solutions. Everything has to be a shortcut.

Pakistan has to model its t20 cricket on another fallen giant- West Indies.

Even though they may not be breeding naturally jacked players out of the womb with killer batspeed, they can still train hard at the gym and learn the basics of power hitting, psychology of charisma and remaining cool under pressure. Only then Pakistan will rediscover the flair it had in the 80s and 90s and have more no look six moments.

Perhaps I couldn’t see these solutions while I was still a Pakistan fan. But now, I am awake.

Pakistan have brought the most colours to the game: reverse swing, doosra, and so many others.

It's only natural that they pioneer the next invention.

Because it is a logic free proposition. You basically want everyone to bat like Afridi. You didn't really need this many lines to describe that. People tried. They all failed. There are two parts in No look shot . 1st part is the actual shot execution. So far Ayub misses mostly the first part just does the second part. Not looking down won't get you extra runs. So your first job is to get the first part correct.

Borrowing a pakistani comment from reddit .

"Teams have figured it out long ago but saim keeps making the same exact mistake over and over again , each time he’s dismissed on this shot its like im watching a flashback , bro needs to move on and look after field placement atleast if he really wants to play it that much ."

The “no look” shot has different flavors - on one side, the no-look shot is executed with the extreme precision and confidence of knowing exactly where the ball is going to end up and on the other side that “no-look” in the shot is taken literally, swung with eyes closed with the extreme hope of connecting and praying it goes somewhere far where there are no fielders.
Btw, that no-look shot of Pandya over Slips or Thirdman is a thing of beauty!

How many of these no look shots will we see in this year’s PSL?

A true measure of hand eye coordination talent tbf in an entertaining tournament

Our players have been reduced to garbage. Play short bowls with no look lack of talent arrogance is their downfall. Can’t even play proper shots and want to play no look prime example saima yin who’s finished

I think this no-look shot is a high risk, low reward shot.

What if the ball doesn't travel to the boundary for whatever reason? Batter can miss out on a run or two. :inti

Batter should always keep an eye on the ball.

If someone tried a no-look ramp shot, they'd be fetching their teeth from the fine leg boundary, visiting an osteo to rearrange their jawline & a dentist to insert some teeth...🔥😁🏆💯😀😃
