With the steep decline of Abbas has left only two pacers in our cricket to be certain starters which are Shaheen and Hasan. Naseem Shah has had injury concerns and has suffered from loss of form/pace(although I think he was undercooked to begin with).
Dhani and Arshad Iqbal are new names every fan wants in the team despite lack of much FC cricket under their belt or success in whatever FC they have played.

Musa Khan and Shinwari didn't make a good impression on their test debuts and were discarded.

Tabish Khan was called up (albeit a few years too late) and looked pretty harmless against Zim.

Waqas Maqsood remains the only pacer with considerable domestic experience coupled with success.

So I would definitely vouch for Waqas Maqsood to be given a fair chance in Tests before it's too late. Shinwari also looks to be international class when in rhythm, but without it, he looks hopeless.

Are the recalls of Rahat Ali, Imran Khan, Ehsan Adil impending now?

Imran Khan was very impressive during the PSL

He would be an upgrade to Abbas at least!

Dhani should have played 2nd test.

No way will we go back to Imran or Rahat.

I rather we played bowling alrounders in Faheem, Amir Yameen & Amad Butt.

rahat ali didnt even get picked for a domestic side last season i dont think, so hes very unlikely to come back.

waqas maqsood deserves a crack, but at 34 years old, bowling 80 mph he would not be significantly better than abbas.

dahani is next in line for a call up, but im guessing the way pcb looking at mohammad wasim, he might eventually be called up, also his batting would help the tail, or maybe a more left field selection like irfanullah shah.

the third seamer spot is up for grabs, this first class season will be interesting.

I'd say Dhani and Waqas Maqsood are ahead of them for the one spare fast bowling spot, but after that the cupboard is very bare.

Pretty hilarious how far Pakistan's cricketing stocks have fallen tbh. The end is probably nigh for the sport as a whole in the country.

I think Waqas Maqsood is the only logical choice left now or maybe they'll look at Shinwari. Dhani is a loose canon atm. Won't be able to sustain pressure. Needs to play 10-15 FC games before making the test side. But our cupboard is totally empty apart from Shaheen and Hasan. Even Shaheen was a left field selection that paid off.

Yes, no batter or bowler to get excited about apart from the 3-4 already in the team. I just hope Haider Ali is handled well. He has potential but is too raw and impatient.

Abbas was bowling pretty much similar to Kyle Mayers. Was generating movement but batters were negotiating it easily.

The thing is our cupboard is empty. Unless someone miraculously is unearthed and developed quickly like Shaheen.

Amir Yamin is even tamer than Abbas. Amad Butt can be tried but I think he has dodgy fitness.

Irfanullah Shah has almost reached 100 FC wickets at a great average and strike rate.

Amad Butt is another option if we want to get someone who can also bat a bit.

Shahnawaz Dahani and Naseem Shah are also options.

Imran Khan and Rahat Ali are already too old.

We don't have the luxury of options.

Pakistan has a lot of good pace bowlers coming through but most of them are very young such as Nassem, Mohammed Hasnain and others. You shouldn't really put bowlers into Test cricket before the age 0f 20-21, it can damage their bodies. You hamper their development if they're played too early.

This is where Imran Khan Jr, Rahat Ali and maybe even Wahab Riaz can do a job they can buy Pakistan 12-18 months of time. They can fill in until one of the youngsters has got the first-class experience and development to come in. Shaheen also needs to be rested for some Test and ODI series.

I admire your optimism, i really do.

Imo, if any of those 3 oldies come anywhere near our test side we may as well give up.

This Pakistan team reminds me of the old Indian team with Prasad and Srinath bowling in tandem. Only one match-winner in the name of Sachin Tendulkar. Same with Baber Azam. I think match fixing and no international cricket in Pakistan had killed the interest from picking up the sport. I am not sure if you can compete against a good tier team. Maybe just play with the likes of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and zimbo.

Please no Rahat Ali. An average bowler plus that dropped catch of Watson in the WC that I can never forgive him for.

What are the odds of Naseem and Hasnain developing into good quality test bowlers? How many bowlers have developed in the last decade or so? Ehsan Adil, Zia ul Haq etc no one could rise to be a dependable bowler. Our system is flawed.

Great spell by my favorite Pakistani bowler Wahab, but you need to get over that dropped catch. Pakistan was never going to win that game. Australia finished with 6 wickets and 16.1 overs left. A total of 213 was never going to be enough.

I am afraid I can't get over it, ever. Yes we had a good chance of winning it if that catch had been taken. Even without that Rahat is hardly a player worth raving about.

Irfanullah Shah, dahani, waqar Maqsood,Khurram Shezard,Arshad Iqbal and I also like akif Akif Javed but highly doubt they will pick him yet.

Akif Javed is exciting and so is dahani.

I think irfanullah shah should get a chance if Abbas is dropped.
Akif javed is an exciting bowler but he needs to play a whole season of domestic.
