We won the CT by being brave with our selections and then asking our players to be brave too and attack and express themselves with fearless cricket

Sadly this approach appears to be missing thinking to the test series so far~ and we have gone back the default of a defensive mindset in relation to our batting both in terms of selection and approach.

We have replaced Mishbar and Younis with Masood and Haris.

I haven't got a problem with Harris but Masood?

As another poster has said Farkhar should be in this side easily~ he s a real talent and he s careers already been delayed by idiotic selection.
He looked by far our best batsmen in the CT yet he didn't even enter the thinking for the test squad.
And before anyone goes on about Farkhar not being cut out for test s matches they should know that was the same ** used against Saeed Anwar and he turned out to be one of very best test batsmen who really should of being in the team earlier.

While Umar Akmal is a clearly a not very likeable player at times he needs to be in the squad also~ as we really lack any power in the batting and he would at least compensate for that. Asad Shafiq is a good workman like batsmen but hes not a no 4 in the truest sense~ he will never dominate a attack even a tiring one on flat pitch which he showed today.
Watching our batting today was painful~ its lacks balance~ there a sameness about it which is makes us one dimensional.
Were not going to trouble the top 4 with these batting line up even though our bowlings useful

Whats wrong with a more aggressive line up like this?

Farkhar Masood
Sami Sami
Azhur Azhur
Babar Shafiq
Harris Babar
Shafiq/Ukmal Harris
Sarfraz Sarfraz

1sami
2azhara
3fakhar
4haris
5shafiq
6babr
7sarfaraz...fakhar is good against spinners plus openers need right and left hand combintion.shafiq can paly at 4 or 5 babar at 6and haris should be playing at 5 or 4 not below that..

My top 7 will be

Sami
Azhar
Babar
Haris
Sarfraz
Usman/Amin
Amin/All-rounder - Aga Salma/Yamin depending on wicket.

Asad actually doesn't deserve to start now - may be part of squad, but not starter. Babar has to be persisted with, though his numbers don't back that confidence any more - still he is the best possible option at 3. I'll invest in Saud Shakil for No. 5 spot in future - at present Fakhar should be in squad to keep Sami honest.

So, yes - that batting line-up is lot less than what it can be, because of selection & order.
