Really tough as he is making a comeback after a long time but a lot was expected of him.

Can he retain his place for the next Test?

Did we have unrealistic expectations from his comeback?

Earlier he used to be a spraygun who could bowl fast. Now he can't even bowl fast.

Needs to be dropped for good.

You are watching a test match and at the close of day 4, your friend gets up and says, "well, this was a good test match". What do you tell him?

Yeah, it's not over yet.

Waqar Younis said in morning that it would be unfair to drop him as he is out of practice.

Well, I think Wahab is only in because he has the right 'backing'. So never say never to him.

But hopefully, hes done for good.

Yes, hopefully.

I was wary of his selection in the side and this is why. Basically played for 3 years because of one fluke spell.

He should never be called again. There are better bowlers than him atm.

Not fair, especially on that pitch.

The spinners should have won the game but they were mostly harmless.

unfortunately, it seems like his career will be limited to t20 leagues around the world now.

Shocking selection in the first place. The guy has no pace, which was his main weapon - did Inzi even watch him before deciding to pick him.

Just by looking at his performances across all formats in domestic, he was struggling to buy a wicket with several wicket-less games. That for a 30+ year old player should be enough of a warning sign that he is not good enough for selection.

Not like Hafeez who had been showing some success in domestic and showed with some runs. A really lazy selection, or if I'm feeling cynical, a sirfarish selection.

Another thing is Wahab didn't bowled much, bowled 27 overs only where as Pak overall bowled 224 overs.
While playing only with only four specialist bowlers and no all-rounder, that means remaining Pak bowlers bowled around 200overs

Had Wahab bowled well and looked like getting a wicket, he would have gotten more overs and that would have reduced the workload of Abbas. We can't have the same scenario in the next test

I swear we say this after every Wahab, Akmal or Shehzad comeback and then failure
All of them always seem to make it back one way or another
Ideally Wahab should never have played for Pakistan after conceding 100 runs against England
2 years on, he’s still here

It’s unfair to pick him if that’s the case Surely more deserving candidates should’ve been picked The national team isn’t there to get some practice and back in rhythm

As Abbas and Siddle have shown in comparison to their faster teammates (Riaz and Starc), you need wicket-to-wicket bowling to succeed in the UAE.

Riaz’s reverse-swing is a myth that has been unable to present itself for ages.

He does not pick up wickets, does not keep it tight, and offers next to nothing with the bat.

Time to move on.

Yes Hopefully this is the end Better picking another seamer who like its been mentiomed can at least keep it tight wkt to wkt

Wahab offers nothing

What was the point of bringing him back when you are trying to bring up emerging players like Mir and Shaeen? Junaid, Amir, Hasan, ...all could have done better than him.

Mir Hamza should be played for the next game and Wahab shouldn't be included in the squad since then. Don't want our selectors saying they need a quick guy for the SA tour either because he isn't really that quick anymore.

He was decent when Misbah was captain but won't be able to do much with Sarfraz as captain.

He has lost his pace and that was about the only thing he had in his armory. Time to move on from him.

He bowled well in the first innings. But, unless a left armer is able to bring the ball back into a RHB doesn’t matter if he clocks 150kph he’s still going to be half as effective. Wahab average speed was 135-140kph and he still doesn’t bring it back into the RHB. So what use is he? I’m sure there are better options ...junaid looks fresh and nippy. Shaheen is a little wayward and too early for him.

I didn't have unrealistic expectations of him, he's always been a wayward bowler who has two main assets, speed and aggression. But without control he's always struggled to hit the right areas consistently so he's often ended up being an asset to the opposition as he feeds them plenty of rubbish to score from. He will get the odd good spell once in a while just by the law of averages and that will fool fans into thinking he's turned the corner.

Nope. He's still just a fast spray gun like he always was.

I hope so. I thought him being dropped would have been a kick up the backside but hasn't learnt. Time isn't on his side either. Hopefully that's the end of his career. Bring in Mir Hamza in the next game for Riaz.

Lol, that's funny because Amir predominantly just brings the ball back into the right hander and doesn't have an outswinger which is why now international level batsmen including Rohit Sharma have made adjustments to their stance to counter him.

A bowler cannot be a one trick pony in today's world

Based on what I saw in the Asia cup, Junaid was the only bowler who was bowling the right line and length for the uae. Maybe he should have been included ahead of Riaz here.

I think it goes without saying that from over the wicket the ability to take the ball away and into the right handed bat is minimum attribute a left arm seamer needs. Of course rahat does that bit he’s still useless.

I'm not saying Mir Hamza is a new Wasim Akram but deserves a debut in 2nd test in place of Wahab.

Yes, Junaid Khan it seems has rediscovered his peak. Wahab was always the Wicketless wonder (who got wickets once in a blue moon). Don't know why he was selected ahead of Junaid. Hopefully against NZ, Junaid is back in the Test side.
