What's new

Is this the worst Pakistan ODI side of all time?

How about this one?...and yep we did field this side...

Farhat
Afridi
Hameed
Hafeez (when was a lot worse)
Malik
Iqbal
Razzler
Kami
Rana Naved
Sami
Anjum

This Pakistan side will win the World Cup. India won in 1983 followed by Australia then Pakistan so the trend will continue. In stock market we have a line ‘trend is your friend.’

Indeed.

England is not winning due to the fact that they are the reason for India and Pakistan existing and the reason for all the torment that the people of British India went through.

India and Pakistan will always come in the way of England.

And when India/Pak don't it'll be Australia.

World T20 2010 was an anomaly.

This World Cup will be won by Australia, Pakistan or India.

The worst Pakistani ODI team of all time beat the best English ODI team to have ever existed. :shadab

I can imagine why people would think that a team captained by sarfaraz should be the worst ever. No it’s not. Amir, Shaheen, Babar, Haris are really good players.

Have a look at the batting lineup we took to the 2010 Asia Cup.

See this is why I think Inzamam gets bashed excessively on here. He's made mistakes but his worst squad is twice as good as those two travesties.

We can thank Mohsin Khan and Iqbal Qasim for those inspired picks.

The bowling looks okish though.

Misbah (along with Waqar) were actually far more responsible for the 2013 CT team that was picked.

As for Inzy, he has the same issues as other ex-Pakistan players - all fine technicians but in terms of cricket based analytical abilities, they're all just inept to put it bluntly. Hence why they have all failed whether it be as a coach or selector. It is time we find a foreign selector, although I wouldn't mind if Bazid Khan gets a chance because he is well versed with the latest developments in domestics.

Appointing Inzy in particular was always going to be counter-productive because he is a toxic individual who has done more harm than good as a selector and this spans back from his captaincy days.

Going by Sarfraz's recent statement in respect of the selection process during the WC, it seems Inzy was not just there to offer an opinion but actually pick his XI. I'm sure one of the reasons for this was to protect his own interest(s), particularly because of Imam.

In this World Cup, he didn't even pick a back-up a wicket keeper. Rizwan makes the team ahead of Malik as a batsman anyway, which shows Inzy isn't really any different from the likes of Mohsin Khan and Iqbal Qasim.

He's made some very poor selections over the years, for instance when he recalled Umar Gul in the England ODI series in 2016. I also remember him recalling Rahat Ali in the ODI team as well.

Lets also not forget his inclusion of Ahmed Shehzad in the 2017 CT and he made matters worse, when he instructed the management to pick him over Fakhar Zaman in the opening game against India, which ended up being a humiliated defeat by the side.

Everyone is quick to scapegoat Mickey for the lack of opportunities given to new spinners, however as chief selector, the onus is on Inzy to give the head coach options. Knowing how lazy he is, he did not bother doing his research, which is why his selection policy can be summed up as slothful and over-emphasis on familiar names - a trait which was also apparent during his captaincy, given his phobia for bringing in young talent.

He is very fortunate to have started this role after the inception of the PSL, since it's the highest profile domestic tournament in Pakistan with good quality of coverage. But due to his lack of work ethic and cricket based analytical skills he is even more fortunate to have lasted for three years.
