I don't think Wahab is as quick as Varun.
Umesh rips it around 140-145, but Varun Aaron was bowling at 143-149k today.
What's your opinion on this?
 
Wahab is quicker than any other bowler in the world, when in zone like his 9 over spell in Dhabi test

But yes on average Varun may be slightly quicker, but there is hell of a difference in bowling in UAE heat compared to cool weather of India (At this point of the year)
 
Isn't Mohammad Sami in the 145-150 kph range regularly ?
 
What's that new SL pacer that played against us last time in SL?

He was quick too.
 
Wahab is by far the best bowler from the subcontinent right now followed by Shami.

well , no he wasn't .
The fastest bowler debate was settled at the worldcup by wahab, , let alone in Asia.
In any case varun aron is a poor man's muhammad sami both in terms of pace and bowling IQ.
there are many quicker and better bowlers around the world like starc , milne etc

Sorry Aaron might be fast but he doesn't even shine Wahab's shoes in terms of quality and class.

Cricinfo says that Aaron's fastest ball today was 146.1kph in the first test of series and Umesh's fastest ball was 147.7 kph with average speed of one being 140kph and other being 143kph but note they have just bowled 3 overs only.

After first test when you will compare fastest balls of Wahab , Aaron and Umesh as well as the average speeds in first and second innings with India vs SA first test and Pak vs Eng first test than you will find out Wahan to be more quick both on average pace and fastest ball.
 
Aaron is in a different league compared to other Asian bowlers as far as pace is concerned.

But if today there is a speed competition of Wahab, Milne, Starc , Cummins , Patterson , Chameera, Aaron , Morkel , Rabada , Johnson and Umesh for a 5 overs spell each on Perth who will win it on average speed and fastest ball ? I would still back wahab to win it in both perspectives.

If he remains fit I think he will cross 150 kph atleast 10 times in England and Australia next year.

Milne will become 155+kph bowler if he stays fit. If he remains fit for one whole season than he may bowl 158+kph few deliveries.

On the basis of average and fastest, Wahab is quicker than both.
 
When any indian bowler can bowl as quick as Wahab did over a 9-10 over spell in not conditions then this thread should be re-opened!

Based on what? What was the last time Wahab maintained 146+kph average pace in ODIs? I know for sure that Aaron has done this almost every single time he played ODIs.

Wahab at the moment can maintain a better average speed than everyone else because of his fitness and strength. Milne is quite fragile at the moment, but if used in short bursts, IMO he will come out as the quickest. He certainly has the most potential in terms of speed of all bowlers bowling today.

If he develops physically with a bit of strength training, he can get very close to Akhtar/Lee level in terms of raw pace.
 
Wahab was bowling faster in the UAE heat, and a spell continuously for 9 overs.

Aaron may be closer to Sami.

Aaron rarely has bowled a 10 overs spell in odi cricket.
 
Speed is overrated without a bowling brain and accuracy.

Mohammed Sami is a good example, lightning speed but spray gun and confused where to bowl.

Arun and Yadav have some potential but seem to be too wayward to become class bowlers.

7-8 overs a match at that pace is still more than enough to highlight his speeds. Aaron is far quicker than Umesh, and even Umesh bowled speeds comparable or faster than Wahab in the WC. It was only peak pace where Wahab left Umesh behind.

Watched a bit of India's match varun was bowling mostly around 138ish.

How many times wahab clocked 150 plus in worldcup and how many times Umesh did it ?

Aaron's today's speeds in a three overs burst with nothing to lose had average speed of 140kph and fastest 146.1kph.

When Aaron was at his peak face and clocked 151kph in ranjhi years ago than he wasn't picked by India and than he got severe injury which resulted in him having a dip in pace . Last time he bowled 150 plus in last 5 years was a couple of deliveries in test series against England .
 
Average speed isn't everything when a batsman faces a bowler. Neither is top speed. A batsman much rather face Varun all day than get a Wasim bouncer. It's how pace is employed that makes a batsman feel it... Or not as is Varun's case.
 
Without control, speed is useless.
 
Well Taskin and Chameera are faster.Naveed is faster than Yadav but we are talking about sub continent

Based on what? Wahab averaged 44 in this series. Mustafizur is miles better than both. Best young bowler in the world and best bowler in Asia right now without a doubt.
 
Does Aaron have a single career defining spell? Wahab has atleast 3 for now in his career. Aaron is not even a consistent selection in his team at the moment and it won't be long before MSD takes him to task for conceeding a lot of runs in an ODI or T-20. Huge difference in how Indians and Pakistan view pace bowlers.

I dont know about anything else but Aaron bowled his fastest domestic ball at 153.5 ks as a 21-22 year old.Hardly peak phase.He was bowling 150ks in Australia last summer.So that part is wrong.
 
Wahab is nowhere near Varun Aaron as far as brutal pace is concerned.

I don't even know why is this a debate. Varun Aaron is a different beast.

Indian speed guns record speeds higher. Aaron, Yadav, Chameera and Nuwan Pradeep bowled against the same speed gun, and Chameera was the quickest hitting 150k, then Umesh, Aaron, around 148k, and Pradeep 146k. Prasad was clocked 144k.

For me, I think it is still Sami or Amir.

dude whab and shami have won test matches for their sides , mustafizur is a newbie who has had some success at home in ODI,S . Decent talent , yes , but that's all he is at this stage.
Wahab has the australian media ( during the worldcup ) and british media now raving about him , nobody really knows mustafizur , let him play some matches first .

He better start using that brutal pace for something good. He can start by using that "brutal pace" to shine wahabs shoes, wahab is a busy man winning matches for his team.

I agree, Varon is a different beat, different than any other fast bowler in the world in the sense that he plays for the opposition.I sincerely hope he breaks Akhtar's record but continue to play for the opposition the way he's doing now.
 
People going on and on about Aaron, does he have a single performance to be noticed on the world stage? Is there a single performance where he blasted the opposition out? I have seen him in IPL games and he has always been tonked around.
 
Some people need to know that speed without control is useless.I would rather have a medium pacer like Imran Khan in the side rather than a spray gun like Sami.

Performance? he's plain rubbish, guys like BK are far better than him even though he lacks speed.
 
The comparison between Aaron and Riaz is unfair. Riaz has been bowling in all formats for many years now whereas Aaron bowls once in a blue.

That Riaz has maintained his speed over such a long periode, like most pakistani fast bowlers do is just incredible. With the fitness of Aaron I do not think he can maintain such speeds. So naturally when you bowl so seldom you will crack it up.

Best thing would be to give both bowlers 5 overs to bowl and see who is the fastest on average.
 
Wasn't Aaron dropped for Yadav after the first test match against Sri Lanka?. I saw Aaron bowling and he was mostly operating around 136-142 km/hr and his speed dropped in his later spells. Regardless he was ineffective and Kohli dropped him for the next 2 test matches in favor of Yadav.
 
from the sub continent chameera is faster.

tbh i don't really care what his fastest is like but more about what the average speed is. aaron might have the leg up on chameera in that category but wahab i think is considerably better than everybody else.
 
I have seen Wahab clock 155 kph.

In WC 2015 he clocked 154.5 kph as shown in pics above.

What's the fastest Yadav and Aaron have clocked?

Anyways, Wahab is a B grade bowler, while Yadav and Aaron are scatterguns and C grade bowlers.
 
if you want to do a pure speed test Sami would still be fastest bowler in the SC. Easy action and still fit , to bad he doesnt have a brain

This is the pace Wahab operates at in 75% of his matches. Aaron has always maintained a 140kph+ pace even in Tests.

As for you or someone claiming Indian speed guns being faster, Aaron has sustained average bowling pace of 145-147 kph even in matches played outside India.

- Adam Milne is the fastest bowler in the world.
- Wahab Riaz is the fastest from the subcon.
- Varun Aaron is the fastest from India.

Is Varun India's fastest ever?
 
In terms of consistent pace -
Tier 1 : Milne, Aaron, Starc (145+)
Tier 2 : Wahab, Morkel, MJ Yadav (140+)

In terms of peak pace -
Tier 1 : Milne, Wahab, Starc, Aaron (150+)
Tier 2 : Morkel, Umesh, MJ (MJ would have been tier 1 year ago, no more)

However, pace alone stands for nothing. The most important thing is hostility. Here, MJ, Wahab and Starc are miles ahead of the others.
 
Srinath is India's fastest ever. But raking a question like if an Indian bowler is fastest on PP, what do you expect? Do you think PP fans would admit that an Indian is faster? They will come up with different theories to disprove.

Having said that, Wahab is quicker as far as top speed is concerned. But consistent pace, I think Varun and Umesh, both are quicker.

In terms of peak pace only. All the years I watched him bowl, he hardly ever averaged 140kph.

I saw him after 1999, there were speedguns then. Also, I don't remember people talking about Srinath's pace like they did with Waqar or Donald from the same era.

Srinath could bowl really pace deliveries, but his average pace was much lower.

It's such a shame people only talk about Waqar, Donald and Bishop's pace from that era. No one remembers the mighty Srinath. Oh wait, well the Indians do.
