ISLAMABAD - The problems for the Nawaz led PML N government seem to be increasing with each passing day as now yet another mega corruption case has surfaced against the federal government.

A scam of Rawalpindi/Islamabad metro bus has also surfaced as the audit report has identified the corruption and irregularities worth Rs5 billion.

Earlier the Lahore and Multan Metro Bus projects had come under the NAB radar over the alleged corruption and irregularities.

According to the special report, unnecessary construction material costing Rs2.26 billion was obtained for the project while Rs39 crore was paid to the illegal occupants of the public property. Rs27 crore was spent in services head before the plying of the buses, it stated.

However, the project was completed in 20 months instead of nine months.

Earlier on June 5, then Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif inaugurted metro bus service in Rawalpindi at Convention Centre.

Islamabad has 14 metro bus terminals whereas 10 stations were made in Rawalpindi. Only Rs 20 is being charged on 20 km travelling on at least 66 buses. An 18-acre depot has also been made.

During the ceremony, Nawaz said that Hanif Abbasi and Shakeel Awan had given masses the gift of metro bus even though they were not elected by the people of Rawalpindi. Praising the transparency of the project, PM Nawaz said that not a single finger can be raised at the metro bus.

It is to be mentioned here that the corruption cases of Multan metro and Orange line metro train in Lahore are already under hearing. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had launched an inquiry into the Multan project and had also investigated a number of officers

On the other hand, opposition party in Punjab Assembly Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is staging protests in the province, demanding a thorough probe into the scam to detain the real culprits.

Kha kha ke saand hogaye hain yeh Sharif

"Nawaz said that not a single finger can be raised at the metro bus". There is a great line in the Usual Suspects which says that The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

So far there has been news about corruption in following Punjab government projects:

- Laptop scheme
- Multan metro bus scheme
- Rawalpindi metro bus scheme
- Ashiana housing scheme
- Paragon city (not gov project but PMLN's Kh Saad Rafiq is involved in this)

It's too early to get information on biggest mega project "Orange train" which will be more than any previous project due to it's substantial costs.

And this when PMLN does NOT make any project details public and even burn the record (in Lahore metro and some other cases).

Sorry for damaging democracy in my post by talking about this level of corruption :(

Wonder who will be first among below people if a corruption competition is held between India and Pakistan:

1. Sonia Gandhi and italian relatives
2. Lalu Prasad
3. Nawaz Sharif
4. Zardari
5. DMK party top guys (Tamil Nadu, India)

Not sure how corrupt Sonia and Lalu are but Nawaz Sharif's corruption is in Billions of dollars. So far only few countries have responded to enquiries sent by NAB and new offshore companies are being exposed in every hearing. They have billions of Rs worth assets in Pakistan as well so i would say Sharif family wins this competition hands down. Zardari also had billions worth assets but most of his assets seem to be in Pakistan/Dubai except some cash stashed in Swiss accounts and London properties.

Never thought Lalu will be in this race, he came across as funny but decent person but can't trust them i guess, Nawaz Sharif looks so mature and decent and his supporters still get fooled.

I thought Lalu was a decent man and was India's equivalent of Shiekh Rashid - a politician that does mince his words and says it as it is in his own unique style. Didn't know he was a contender for most corrupt.

The sad thing is that nothing ever comes to a conclusion. Hopefully these cases involving the Sharifs, their cronies in Punjab Bureaucracy, the case involving the Generals in Lahore and all others are concluded promptly. When Mush 1st came there was similar energy and then deals were made with the Saudis and nothing came to fruition.

He ruled a state a for 15 continuous years and brought it to bottom among all Indian states with one of the worst law and order situations ever, all that without being corrupt, Don't think it's possible.

Chara ghotala, fodder scam lol he was involved in.

Well India has proper democracy and people voted him in three times that means the blames lies more with the voters than the person himself no?

I would like to vote for #5.

This is Bihar - fair to say that voters didn't merely pick one over the other because of merit.

NAB files reference against Ahad Cheema in Ashiana scam

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday filed a reference against former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general Ahad Cheema in the Ashiana Housing Scheme case.

Cheema is accused of awarding a Rs14 billion contract to Lahore Casa Developers for the Ashiana-e-Iqbal housing project by misusing his authority with criminal intent.

An investigation was launched against the management and officers of the Punjab Land Development Company and owners of Lahore Casa Developers. LDA officials were also implicated in the investigation after the contract was cancelled by the government. M/S Chaudhry Latif and Sons had emerged as the successful bidders for the project.

Cheema and Bismillah Engineering chief executive officer (CEO) Shahid Shafiq were sent on a judicial remand by an accountability court in Lahore on June 19.

A 90 and 87-day physical remand of the duo had ended before that.

The authorities finally had to awake from their slumber after the video of development of a huge crater over the metro bus track near Sixth Road, Rawalpindi went viral on social media, catching everybody by surprise, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

People were surprised because they had never heard such types of things happening to the metro bus before.

Besides crater, the video also showed cracks on the track’s surface, which triggered the fall of huge rocks from the track to the ground.

The metro bus management at last swung into action and restored the track to its original position.

Corruption has been a great issue for Pakistan in the last few decades and it seems the situation isn't get any better.

When the mafia own every nook and cranny of the system, and the guy that tried to challenge faces a life in prison, who can stop it? Not the guy that helped to create this system.
