What's new

Islamabad United (143/2) defeat Lahore Qalandars (139) comprehensively by 8 wickets to claim victory in the opener of PSL X

10 years in yet PSL failed to develop a single world class player ,infact Most of PSL stars have regressed and flopped badly at international level. From Hasan Ali to Shadab to Azam to Usman.

Sp far Performance in PSL has no cause and effect connection with International Performance ?

Bobby is the best.
Saimy is the best.
Selmon is the best.

Others are just trash.

I looked at both teams and I pretty much recognized every player in both X1’s. However only name I didn’t recognize was Asif Afridi. I thought he was some upcoming youngster. He is 38 :ifticool

Hopefully Matt Short is fit by the next game and they can drop Adries Ghous, the batting line-up will become even stronger.

Sahibzada Farhan really needs to work on his strike-rotation. No point of being a good ball striker if you can't rotate the strike and eat up so many dot-balls.

I had posted his picture here on page2. Posting again for you.

He is FATA's 38 not actual 38

Poor start to the PSL but things can only improve from here. Need more competitive games. This game was pretty much decided before Qalanders even completed their innings.

He is just a pak basher.
He looked clueless in 2024 t20wc.
He's one of the most talented T20 batters in the world. He has dominated Pak but he has also played 14 T20Is against them. Against most other teams he hasn't played more than 5. He has done well in the Hundred, MLC, Vitality Blast and played a couple of great knocks in the BBL too. Most impressively he boasts one of the highest T20 strike-rates in the world.

Islamabad United secure an 8-wicket victory against Lahore Qalandars in the opening game of PSL X

In the opening match of the HBL PSL X, defending champions Islamabad United secured an eight-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars. The West Indies' fast bowler debut in the HBL Pakistan Super League was also a highlight of the match. Qalandars were dismissed for 139 in 19.2 overs, with only four batters reaching double figures. Abdullah Shafique, Sikandar Raza, Daryl Mitchell, and Haris Rauf managed to reach double figures.

For United, Jason Holder took four wickets for 26 and was supported by captain Shadab Khan. Islamabad United started cautiously, scoring just 37 runs in the powerplay and losing Andries Gous to Asif Afridi. Colin Munro and Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan formed a 55-run partnership for the second wicket, but Sahibzada was dismissed in the ninth over.

At the halfway stage, United needed 71 more runs to win. Munro and Pakistan's T20I captain Salman Ali Agha ensured the win with 14 balls to spare, with Munro returning undefeated on 59 off 42 balls and Salman scoring an unbeaten 34-ball 41.

Rauf has lost around 8-10 km/hr in pace. Not sure if it is an age related decline or not training properly.

LQ need to make a tough decision on Shaheen or Fakhar and get rid of one from Platinum

They are really lacking in star quality in this department.

This squad isnt giving me any good vibes. Mitchell has been poor for a long, long time now.
It has to be Shaheen, no way you can demote Fakhar.

All players struggle in Aus on their first tour — ideally you should reward your best domestic preformers. You do that by giving them a long run. Maybe they suck at the start but improve (just like Agha Salman).

Yes he smashes these 135kph bowlers in domestic, but what else can we test him by because that’s all we have in Pakistan.

Pak didn’t handle him well. He’s an opener but they batted him, at times ar, 3,5 and 7…

Give him like 20 games and then see. He hasn’t even played an international game in Pakistan yet
Not all players. Sharjeel, Iftikhar, M Harris and Saim enjoyed their first time in Australia.

Farhan should have been in ODI squad few years ago when his ListA avg was above 50 ! He is good enough for subcontinent but considering that next WC is in SA, we should look past him now. He is not suited to T20s either.
