Isn't it a travesty that's India's golden generation will never play a Test against Pakistan?

This is disputably India's golden generation of batsmen but none of the current players have ever played a test against Pakistan, their preeminent arch-rival neither at home nor in Pakistan. Kohli is turning 32 this year so he only has another 5-6 years or so yet unlike his other great predecessors he will have never played a test match against Pakistan by the time he retires. It's like if a Lakers great never played the Celtics their entire career, or if Man Utd's greatest team never played at Anfield. Seems like in an incomplete career and once inevitably the ties between India and Pakistan are re-established (decades from now), a lot of the Indian and Pakistani cricketers of the current era would feel they were robbed of an experience.

You are wrong. India's golden generation of batsmen have already played against Pakistan. I am talking about Sachin, Dravid, Sehwag, Ganguly, Laxman. :inti

Hardly. There is nothing special about playing against current Pakistan team. Am sure current Indian players aspire to face England and Australia than playing against below average teams like Pakistan, SL and WI.

This is not India's golden generation of batsmen. Bowlers? May be.

Except Kohli , none of the batsman would make it to the late 2000s batting order of -

Gambhir
Sehwag
Dravid
Sachin
Ganguly
Laxman
Dhoni

But yeah. Agree with OP's point. Indo-Pak tests are a great miss these days.

Not really. Pakistan is a small, irrelevant team now.

The Indian players are not missing out on anything. A Pakistan-India Test series today would no different to a Sri Lanka-India Test series.

Pakistan would trounce this Indian team. I wish we can play a test series in England or New Zealand.

Trounced is an utterly wrong word to use but series will be more competitive in NZ and England . Anywhere else, Pakistan will meet the same fate as it did in Aus and SA.
