"It’s concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam": Fakhar Zaman

Just makes me doubt the sincerity of this guy to Pakistan now.

I always thought he was the only patriot left in this lot. Now I doubt that too, maybe that was also a guide/front put on by his PR agency.

Heartbroken by this guy doing what he did.
I think we all were. Ig Sarfaraz was the only one? Major sadness for true pakistani fans

A warning would have been more than enough for a player who's never been involved in any controversy.

PCB is run by clowns as Yasir Arafat said

Fakhar: Play for the name on the badge in front of your shirt and not the name behind it…

*Goes on to give unconditional support for a name that has only played for himself.

Rizwan school of acting and Drameybaazi

As per media reports:

Fakhar Zaman has responded to PCB's show-cause notice.

Zaman had defended Azam on social media after his removal from the team due to poor form in the second Test against England.

Following Zaman's post, the PCB issued a show-cause notice seeking his explanation. It indicate that the board will review Zaman's response before deciding on his inclusion in the Australian tour squad, set to be announced Monday.
As per media reports:

Fakhar Zaman responded to the show-cause notice issued by the PCB:

"Babar Azam is one of the best batters in the world, and that’s why I felt compelled to express my opinion. I believe Babar Azam deserved a chance during tough times, reflecting on the PCB's central contract as a fellow player."

Yep, I think we just have to write off the whole post 2021 generation. The core team in that time are just little kids with their dosti / yaari, back slapping, backstabbing.

It does seem though that Saya Corps are using Fakhar to make their own statements. They know public opinion is now against babar and Rizwan so have pivoted to Fakhar.

That does not absolve Fakhar, looks like he’s a willing participant.

What I read/heard.... Fakhar's response to PCB's show cause notice was: "I made the statement well before Babar was dropped. I was only responding to the fans, critics, analysts who were speculating that Babar might be (should be) dropped."

How stupid is he if any agency is controlling him which is directly impacting his career.

This cracked me up:

I don’t find it amusing, Babar Azam wasted Noman Ali’s best years, he is literally the only senior who is likeable and a genuine match winner that I’ve seen in recent times, he performs with pride and for his country unlike Ifti Chacha & Misbah who were better suited to giving the media their typical old yeller statements.

Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman to escape with a reprimand for criticising PCB

Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman is likely to escape with a reprimand for criticising the PCB ahead of the squad announcement, where it planned to drop former skipper Babar Azam for two Tests against England.

Azam, along with several senior players, got eventually dropped for two Test days after Fakhar expressed his displeasure on social media.

Fakhar was issued a show-cause notice by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after he tweeted his views where he compared Azam's run drought with India's Virat Kohli, who went through a lean patch between 2020 and late 2022.

"It's concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam. India didn't bench Virat Kohli during his rough stretch between 2020 and 2023, when he averaged 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50, respectively," Fakhar wrote on 'X'.

"If we are considering sidelining our premier batsman, arguably the best Pakistan has ever produced, it could send a deeply negative message across the team. There is still time to avoid pressing the panic button; we should focus on safeguarding our key players rather than undermining them." England are touring Pakistan for three Tests, with the hosts levelling the series in the second Test after the side, led by Ben Stokes, won the opener in Multan.

Babar, along with Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Sarfaraz Ahmed were eventually dropped.

Fakhar was sent a show-cause notice and asked why disciplinary action should not be taken against him as he had clearly breached a clause of his central contract by criticising the PCB and its selection policy.

A source in the board said that Fakhar had sent in his reply before the October 21 deadline and explained he had only spoken in favour of a teammate and colleague and he had no intention of challenging the authority of the PCB.

"Fakhar has said that he has utmost respect for the PCB as it is his institution which employs him and runs the sport in Pakistan," the source added.

Fakhar Zaman speaking to selected cricketers in Lahore Qalandars Players Development Program Trials:

"I can see that you're all very excited, and I understand—because when I was of your age, I was just as excited. But I have a request for you: the more you tell people via mobile phones and social media that 'I've been selected,' the more it could actually harm you. So you should stay away from these things and focus on your cricket. You've been given an opportunity—one that very few people in Pakistan's history have received. You'll have your own trainer, and you'll be provided with three meals a day that are provided to top athletes.”

This tweet cost him big time. Dropped from the ODI and T20 series against Australia and Zimbabwe. Injustice this is.

Who cares?

Where was Tanvir Ahmed when Fakhar was being shafted in T20is for crap players like Babar and Rizwan?

Munafiqs like Tanvir Ahmed will never be voices for justice
Do you think he is right that Aqib had some personal rift here??

Do you think he is right that Aqib had some personal rift here??
I don’t know. I don’t think so. But I guess Aqib doesn’t have to see Fakhar anymore the day he turns up for LQ squad assembly, Aqib’s moved on.

LQ were messing FZ around a lot during the drafts. They would always release him and retain Rauf in the platinum category, only to pick him as their first pick in the draft. They never did this with Rauf or Shaheen, always Fakhar.

The reason for dropping him that is being given is apparently fitness. He's been asked to rehab his knee at the NCA. He failed the PCB fitness tests.

He got proven wrong after shakeel and ghulam got us the V
Still, being punished for sticking up for your team mates who are still being selected smells abit iffy to me, especially when fakhar is yet to stand in front of any panel but has still been handed down a penalty

After this tweet from Fakhar, Babar got his place back in the team but he himself is paying for that support I think

PCB is not ready to forgive him anytime soon.

I think we need fakhar for ODIs and T20s

Where is Babar now? It makes one laugh and become angry at the same time when one things about this episode and the unfolding drama.

Fakhar Zaman speaking during the Champions T20 Cup:

"I am absolutely fit, which is why I am playing. Whenever I get the chance, I will play. My career started with the Champions Trophy, and my performances there were such that the team won matches I'll try to do the same in the upcoming Champions Trophy as well, to play well for the team and help them win matches."

Mohammad Rizwan in a recent interview shed light on Fakhar Zaman's absence from the squad:

Q: Thoughts on Fakhar Zaman and his absence from the squad:

I think the whole of Pakistan is familiar what kind of a special player he is. Some people are thinking that whatever is happening to him is part of something personal. But that is not the case, as I am also in contact with the selection committee and keep on interacting with them (on this issue). Fakhar is a different and special character. He is a match winner for us. I think most of you are not aware of the fact that he is ill, and the rumors that he was out (of the team) just because of failing to pass some fitness test are not the whole story. As I know him personally, he is suffering from some cough or flu-type disease, and because of it, he has been asked to stay in Pakistan and be part of the Champions Cup, so even if any (illness) issue arises, then PCB medical staff there could cater to and look after him directly.

Fakhar is Ill yet he has to play a t20 domestic tournament? What kind of Illness is this?

And if fakhar is such a special player, Why did you replace him as an opener in t20?

Fakhar Zaman clarifies his thoughts behind the Babar Azam related tweet saga:

"Later I realized it would have been better, had I not done that (tweet?). Basically, people are mistaken when they think that I have made this tweet against the board's (PCB) decision. Although this (understanding) is 100 percent wrong. I made that tweet before the announcement of team. I actually made that tweet in reply to some rumors spread by some journalists and analysts on social media. They (journalists) were talking about the idea to drop him (Babar). As you know, there is generally an issue with us Pathans that we do things first and ponder over it later. They (some journalists and analysts) were not considering Babar's longstanding services for the team but were adamant on the idea of him (Babar Azam) getting dropped. So these thoughts were constantly recurring in my mind and led me to do that tweet. Again I did that tweet before the announcement of the team. I am kind of a employee of PCB, how can I do this against them."

This just reinforces what we think has actually happened, Rizwan can fool his one-track minded fans but the devil’s in the detail with his response to that great question

If these are indeed Fakhar’s comments, am glad he is at least putting some pressure on the regime. He is essentially confirming whatever was tweeted wasn’t by him, and is now trying to claw back, I wonder if simple Fakhar even realises what has been done to him though…

I will give Rizwan some credit though for being so chalak 🐍, he’s an even bigger politician then Misbah was who was a bit like Trump when it came to interviews and couldn’t help saying what was on his mind.

We are trying to build a positive high performance dressing room.

That public outburst showed poor judgement. He should have backed the new captain instead. He is at the twilight of his career so its best we find a long term alternative.

Fakhar was so unlucky that he came back in the team after a long gap and got injured in the very first game. This is a huge setback for Pakistan actually. I think babar getting dropped from T20s was fair though I hope these new guys do perform now that they have got their chance.

If they botch this chance, it means that we are left with no choice but to bring back old guys.

We need to think about this logically, just because Saim is out and Fakhar is out, doesn’t mean we need to abort project ‘PP overs batting’ prematurely. The fact that we don’t have any back-up for these guys or a seasoned hand who can step in, says it all. We shouldn’t be creating scenario’s to justify the return of the chuckle brothers at the top of the order.

This is a reality that we have no real replacements ready for these guys, especially fakhar and Saim. I hope the new guys can show that they have got it covered.

We need to give them a long rope, if experience is what we desire, even then, I would not go back to Riz/Babar, Sharjeel is a better bet to exploit PP overs, just look at his record in domestic cricket against Pakistan’s best bowlers, that too in red ball cricket.

MOVE ON FROM SHARJELL BRO. Nobosy is talking about him anymore apart from you. I would take Mohammad Haris over him any day now.

Read the post very slowly again and carefully, I said if experience is what we’re going for, he’s a much better bet then going back to the same lanju panju who have failed for years. Mo. Harris is a straight replacement for Rizwan, admittedly he can be used as a floater and offers great utility, but typically he doesn’t open the innings. Having said that, we need to give the right players a long rope.

Haris has opened in domestics. But yeah, he might not open in Upcoming games with Omair and Hassan Nawaz being hyped to open. Let's see...

But it is definitely a positive move that we are moving in the modern day era.
