It looks like the PCB has finally realized the value of spinners. Earlier, they were relying too much on Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Naseem to win matches. The recent change is already showing benefits. The real test will be in the Asia Cup against India, but overall this is a positive sign

I always loved spinners in these pitches they are your match winners

Play the conditions my friend same harris rauf in Australia was unplayable in uae even food seller will say play the spinners.
Agreed. Even Shaheen today used the pitch to his advantage by trying to swing it away. Haris Rauf/Naseem suit more AUS/NZ type of bouncy pitches.

Everyone was calling for it, but Aqib Javed insisted on pacers. He seems to have forgotten how effective spinners have been in the middle overs throughout PCT’s history. That said, Shadab was losing his impact, and we’ve been badly missing a proper chinaman for a long time. Nawaz today got resurrected, and had his ball to VK during WC in Melbourne not been a no ball things couldve been different.

If only they picked spinners in the CT squad.

Pakistan are looking good for 2026 World T20 --> Sufiyan, Abrar, Saim, and M Nawaz.

These 4 spinners can choke oppositions on those sluggish SL pitches.

Not pcb, they may have found the right captain.

Babar, rizwan and shaheen wanted to look good on social media so they kept going for pace bowling options irrespect of the conditions.

Read akrams tweet yesterday. He was bashing the captain for his bowling options and than when nawaz took his hattrick, akram took a u turn.

People ignore the spin conditions and play pacers on them just for the sake. This has been happening since the 2p16 world t20 where afridi lost to India due to the same mistakes.

Agha did well tonight, but i am still interested in seeing what lineup he plays against india.

You are right. Babar also flopped many matches by being unable to use part time accordingly. Even on PP commentary threads we would be hoping that he slips in one two overs from part timer so he can have more options at the death but he would never do it.

Rizwan and Shaheen weren't as bad as him.

The Sharjah pitch was favourable for spinners, so it was the right decision.

Now access the Dubai condition before selecting the playing eleven.

Nawaz and Faheem are doing the job of all-rounders very well, giving the team the much needed Balance. This allows the captain to play an extra batsman or bowler

POTW contender

I think some posters forget how bad the spin options were in the past.
Right now
Sufiyan is very much a rookie just finding his feet.

Nawaz is just coming back into the team. He’s been playing for over ten years and only now looks like a good spinner.

Abrar was around the team but way too inconsistent. In Pakistan in the tests he could hardly make an impact against England. (But they were tests)

Saim got injured a few months ago and is still very new.

12 months ago our options were Shadab (can’t land it on the strip)

Osama (at least one 4 ball an over)
Qadir (play me or I will emigrate).

So what options did Pak have? Spinners hunt in pairs too. Up coming talents that we talk about like Usman Tariq need to play a lot more domestic before they can leapfrog even sufiyan and Faisal Akram let alone Abrar.

But it’s good for the team to have real competition in the spin department for once. I think shadab has more chance of returning as a pure batsman.

one of the reasons why we lost to India in that Asia Cup that destroyed nawaz's career for the time being was Babars decision.

I think we all kept crying in that match thread that for gods sakes, bring in a part timer or bowl nawaz off.

The final over drama and than keeper standing back just showed how bad the pakistani captaincy was.

The over acting of Rauf also pissed me off, when he got smoked for a six on that bouncer.

Tbf to Abrar, its very difficult for a spinner in England to perform unless you're an ATG.

Spin options look good, but need another quality pacer (probably not required in the UAE) to support SSA.

Radarless Haris Rauf does not fit in our best XI in the UAE. Had he played yesterday, he would have conceded 12-15 runs per over and released all the pressure exerted by the spinners from the other end.

Wasim Junior might be a better option than Haris as the second seamer.

In the UAE, if you aren't relying on spinners, then you have no game awareness... These pitches are made for spinners and they should be preferred 9 out of 10 times here.

We’re the only country which tries to have their strengths (pace bowlers) different to their home conditions. Every other country leans into their home advantage. If Pakistan played 70% of their games in SENA like SENA countries it wouldn’t be an issue. Unfortunately that isn’t the case. And the game has progressed too much to just carry an inherent disadvantage due to tradition or history.

Unfortunately we still haven’t got great spin options in recent past. Maybe these new ones will do better. But was getting a bit sick and tired of these coaches trying to play extra pacers to compensate in spinning conditions. I think particularly some of the foreign coaches in the past have made this mistake.

Not in England. Against England in Pakistan. Abrar was pretty average but that has something to do with docile pitches until they were made spin friendly. The bottom line is Pak for a long time has had poor pitches and average spinners and inadequate development of the existing spin bowlers leading to a dearth of spinners in the national team. Now of course things look brighter.
