In a major blow to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the British government rejected a visa extension request of the party's supreme leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The UK Home Office has informed Nawaz Sharif of its decision. However, the former premier has the right to appeal against the decision.

In a video statement, Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan had already requested the UK authorities not to give refuge to people involved in corruption in the country.

He advised the former premier to reach out to Pakistan's embassy, get a temporary passport since his passport has expired and return to Pakistan to face the courts.

On his right to appeal, the federal minister predicted that it will be denied because he is not sick. "If he [Nawaz Sharif] lies in the UK courts, he might have to serve jail time," he added.

Fawad further said that the way Nawaz was moving around in restaurants in Britain showed that he was not sick. "If he tells another lie to extend his visa application, he could be sentenced by British courts."

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and the PTI has no grudge against the former premier but bringing back looted wealth is a necessary step.

"Nawaz Sharif can get back to Pakistan, return looted wealth and can stay at his residence here... otherwise he would have to return the wealth anyway and would go to jail as well," the information minister added.

In a statement, Marriyum said the UK's Home Department had refused to extend Nawaz Sharif's stay in the country, adding that the PML-N leader can challenge the decision in the immigration tribunal.

She said that the former prime minister's lawyer's had filed an appeal for visa extension with the immigration tribunal, adding that the UK Home Department's decision would remain ineffective till the immigration tribunal reaches a verdict.

Answering a question, Marriyum said that “this does not in any way amount to a political asylum and is only a request for an extension in stay on medical grounds”.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC), however, had declared him a proclaimed offender on December 2 as the former premier failed to appear before the bench – originally formed to hear his appeals against his convictions – despite various notices.

According to a report published in London-based Financial Times newspaper in October last year, Pakistan also asked the British government to repatriate Nawaz Sharif through a letter that Adviser to the PM on Accountability Mirza Shehzad Akbar wrote to British Home Secretary Priti Patel.

In March, the Ministry of Interior recommended the Foreign Office to not renew the passport of Nawaz, saying that the former prime minister had failed to satisfy the government on why his passport should be renewed and therefore he cannot be given ‘further relief’ until he appears in court.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had sent a request to the Pakistan High Commission in the UK to renew the passport of the three-time premier which was later sent to the interior ministry for further processing.

The interior ministry, while rejecting the request, said that both the IHC and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have declared Nawaz Sharif a proclaimed offender and therefore he cannot be given further relief until he appears in court.

"Nawaz Sharif could not satisfy why his passport should be renewed further. If he wants to return, he can apply for an emergency travel document (ETD). The Pakistan High Commission should respond to Nawaz's request in writing that his passport cannot be renewed," the letter further stated.

Who knows they might have a Saudi passport they are big people they have connections everywhere. Bringing this looted wealth I mean when he was actually in Pakistan Imran Khan did not do a damn thing.
You guys in the government should not lie either. The whole country is corrupt from top to bottom.

Even if Britain throws him out he will move to Saudi, UAE or even Argentina if necessary. These thieves always have back up plans. Just don't see him returning to Pak, ever.

Its a propaganda coup.

Staying in a Western Country is good for street cred.

Living in Saudi etc, he will be severely limited in terms of political statements as those countries dont allow it.

LAHORE / ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Shehbaz Sharif has ruled out the return of ex-premier and party supremo Nawaz Sharif to the country until his ‘full recovery’, asserting that he can legally stay in the UK till the British immigration tribunal decides his appeal against home department’s refusal to extend his visa.

While PML-N Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb, who backed the party president’s stance, claimed that the ex-premier would not seek political asylum in the UK, State Minister for Information Farrukh Habib told a presser that the ‘fugitive’ and ‘absconder’ had been living in London with an expired Pakistani passport and the PML-N leadership had lost its sleep after the UK refused to extend visa on medical grounds.

In a statement issued on Friday, Mr Shehbaz, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, said the Imran government had allowed Mr Sharif to leave Pakistan for treatment based on the reports of the government’s own medical board. “It is inhuman to do politics on the health of a three-time premier. The government machinery is bent upon defaming Nawaz Sharif for its politics, which is earning a bad name to the country,” he said.

About his elder brother’s return to the country, Mr Shehbaz said: “Nawaz Sharif will only return to Pakistan when he fully recovers and doctors in London allow him to travel (back to the country).” He added that he could legally stay in the UK till the decision on his appeal regarding visa extension.

The appeal was filed before the immigration tribunal on Thursday.

Maryam’s tweet

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz said the visa issue had again proved how her father was on the nerves of the PTI government members. “This fake government has accepted its defeat from Nawaz Sharif who is the present and future of Pakistan. By targeting a towering personality, the stature of a pygmy cannot be elevated,” she tweeted.

The request for extension in stay was filed with the UK home department on medical grounds on the advice of his doctors. “This is a routine procedure for anyone who seeks to extend their stay in UK and Nawaz has the right to an appeal in the Immigration Tribunal,” said party information secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb while addressing the media outside Parliament Lodges.

His health had deteriorated while being in “NAB-Niazi alliance custody”, she said, insisting that the medical reports and tribunals had said they could not treat Nawaz’s ailment in Pakistan.

“Even Imran Khan had verified all these fact after the inspection of doctors from his trusted Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital. The provincial and federal governments sent Nawaz Sharif abroad for treatment after fulfilling all legal requirements,” she said.

She asserted that the party supremo would not seek political asylum in the UK, as he could legally stay in Britain till the immigration tribunal decision on the appeal. She claimed that many PML-N leaders were kept in death-row cells, harassed and mentally tortured but the PTI government could not prove corruption allegation against them.

Red flag shown

Flanked by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Mohammad Usman Dar at the launch of digital dashboard of Kamyab Jawan Programme, State Minister for Information Farrukh Habib said: “The red flag is now in the air for Nawaz Sharif in the country where he had bought palatial Avenfield Apartments from the looted national wealth, which he had laundered from Pakistan.”

“You [Nawaz] have eaten enough pizzas and watched polo matches in London, besides having many cups of coffees and visits to Hyde Park. Now it is time to return home,” he said.

He said the PML-N leaders were setting new records of telling lies in public. It was the hallmark of their politics that could be traced back to the Qatari letter and fake trust deed the defence counsel produced in court, he added.

The minister reminded the people that Nawaz Sharif did not come to Pakistan even though his personal physician, Dr Adnan, had already returned from London.

If Prime Minister Imran Khan had doubts about the medical board reports that had allowed ex-premier to proceed abroad for treatment in November 2019, he should sack his health lieutenants, Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Yasmin Rashid, or better step down himself for allowing him to travel, said PML-N Punjab information secretary Azma Bokhari.

Addressing a presser along with deputy secretary general of the party Attaullah Tarar in Lahore, Ms Bokhari castigated the government spokespersons for politicising their leader’s health.

“Nawaz Sharif has become a symbol of fear for the selected PTI government. After learning that the UK home department refused extension in the visa of Mr Sharif, the government is confused whether to celebrate the news or mourn. Not a single day passes when the Imran Niazi government does not remember him [Nawaz],” Mr Tarar claimed.

And then LHC gives them back before the ink has dried. The more I think about it, the more I hate Mushy for letting these crooks back. Mushy may have got his flat in London from the Saudi King but he betrayed PK with his NRO with the Sharifs and BB/AZ

many of those lands fall under the area of the people like Ijaz Shah who i believe can pull his strings and help the govt confiscate those lands.

You really think the NRO to BB was wrong?

AZ i get, but why BB?

It doesn't matter what IK does, the LHC is totally controlled by the Sharifs. If you want the law to take precedence then get rid of the LHC.
Mushy got suckered by his own greed. BB was a partner in crime with AZ, the Rockingham mansion, the 60mn in the Swiss Bank accounts, Condi Rice revelations on her secret bank accounts to name a few. Mushy had real evidence and still gave her an NRO.

Nawaz should come back, says Rashid

ISLAMABAD:
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Monday said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had only two options: either he appealed against the rejection of his request for visa extension by the UK government, or seek political asylum there.

Addressing a news conference at the interior ministry, Rashid said that the ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) could not be harmed by any external conspiracies, and assured that the government would not tolerate any interruption in the implementation of the mega project.

The minister said that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif’s passport had been revoked by the government on February 16. Last week, the UK government also rejected his request for extension in his visa.

“Nawaz Sharif has two options: appeal or seek political asylum,” Rashid said, adding that the former prime minister would not opt for the later.

“The true leader is the one who lives and dies in the country, Nawaz Sharif should return to the country,” he added. We have [also] faced jails.” Rashid said that the current situation of the country demanded unity.

“The opposition does not understand the situation in the region."

He added that it was high time to jointly foil the conspiracies of enemies as they were always active against the country.

India’s RAW [Research and Analysis Wing], NDS [National Directorate of Security of Afghanistan] and Israeli spy agency [Mossad] are trying to sabotage peace in Pakistan and they are also using media to create disharmony among various sections of the society of Pakistan,” he said.

He said that he had held two meetings with Chinese ambassador and assured him of tightening the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.

He made it clear that CPEC project would not be harmed any external conspiracy.

Referring to the Kohistan bus incident, in which nine Chinese citizens working on the Dasu dam project were killed, along with four Pakistani nationals, the minister said that the investigation into the incident has been completed.

“The foreign ministry will issue a statement on this,” he added.

He stated the interior ministry had completed its investigation into the case of alleged kidnapping of the daughter of Afghan ambassador.

He added that the factual situation had been shared with the Afghan investigation team through the Foreign Office.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who has been in London for over a year citing health grounds, has submitted a fresh medical report signed by one Dr David Lawrence – a cardiothoracic surgeon — to the Lahore High Court (LHC).

The three-page report submitted to the high court stated that the doctors treating Nawaz have barred him from travelling, visiting public spaces – airports and planes – and staying “very close to healthcare facilities where he is currently under treatment”.

The report was submitted a week after the UK government rejected a plea filed by Nawaz seeking an extension for his stay in London.

In the report, Dr Lawrence said Nawaz was under his “treatment and medical supervision intermittently since 2016" when he performed a coronary artery bypass surgery on the former premier.

“In November 2019, he [Nawaz] was referred…for treatment because of unavailability of specific expertise, technologies, and techniques to treat his diseases along with co-morbidities and associated complications,” the report said, adding that Nawaz has “complex and complicated” medical issues.

“Great care needs to be exercised in dealing with each of the disease and comorbidities he is suffering from in order to maintain the right balance,” Dr Lawrence wrote in the report.

At present, an experienced team of haematologists at the Guy’s and St. Thomas Hospital and the cardiologists at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital are looking after the former prime minister in London, the report added.

“Prior to this latest referral Mr [Nawaz] Sharif has been getting treatment here in London for many years,” it said.

The medical report further said: “In London, Mr [Nawaz] Sharif underwent extensive medical investigations and scans, including periodic laboratory assays – Rubidium-82 Cardiac Perfusion PET-CT scan (Rest & Stress), echocardiogram and 24-hours Holter analysis. He [Nawaz] had an echocardiogram showing left ventricular hypertrophy and dysfunction (EF 49%) and Aortic Valve Disease (mild AS) and 24-hour Holter analysis [was] reported abnormal with conduction defects (first degree AV Block & BBB morphology) having occasional law atrial rates, aberrant conduction, and ectopic activity.”

Visa extension rejected

Last week, the British government rejected a visa extension request by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif. The UK Home Office informed Nawaz of its decision, saying that the former premier reserved the right to appeal against the decision. Following the decision, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid urged Nawaz to return and face cases.

The minister had said that Nawaz’s passport had been revoked by the government on February 16. Last week, the UK government also rejected his request for an extension in his visa. “Nawaz Sharif has two options: appeal or seek political asylum,” Rashid had said, hoping that the former prime minister would not opt for the latter.

Nawaz, serving a seven-year prison term after his conviction in December 2018, was given rare permission in October 2019 to get medical treatment abroad in view of a debilitating health condition.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC), however, had declared him a proclaimed offender on December 2, 2020, after he failed to appear before a bench – originally formed to hear his appeals against his convictions – despite various notices.

So they found a corrupt Doctor to say what they want. If NS can't travel then how did he get into the UK.

From what I have been told, the report reads as if it was written by a lawyer. It is so vague with very broad coverage that anyone over the age of 60 can fit it.

While the good doctor was telling us how sick his Pizza munching, hyde park strolling patient is,

Here he is inviting all and sundry to the Nikah of Junaid baba's to with the daughter of Saifur Rehman (of Ehtesab Bureau and Qatari khat fame). I am told that this is an exclusive high end Hotel. Must be nice to live off monies pilfered from the back of hungry people in Pakistan.

It may be worth for people that live locally to give them hell on this day. Make sure it's a day to remember for Junaid and the family

Getting heckled and embarrassed in public has no impact on these individuals. They’re at a height of shamelessness that’s is incomprehensible for normal people.
