Gul was finished by then and Afridi has never bothered the Indians with his bowling. That 183 was on the same pitch where Jamshed and Hafeez scored hundreds and Younis Khan of all people, scored a 50 at a SR of nearly 200. It was a flat pitch and the Asia Cup is no World Cup.
The rest of those innings are either against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh or came in a T20 match. ABD's innings against New Zealand in the WC semi is worth more than this pitiful sample.
In the real big matches, Kohli has failed. Whether that be the WC semi in 2015 or the 2017 CT final. His 35 in the 2011 edition was a mediocre score as well, despite him playing at home against his favorite opposition.
Can you imagine the carnage AB would cause if he was playing at home against the Windies in a WC final?

I clearly stated the sample size is too small for either point of view to hold merit.
Sample size when it comes to high profile games is not a useful metric, like how many games does a great player needs before he comes to the party and how many games during his career is he going to get to play when it comes to those crunch matches ? so even 1 or 2 games when there's a lot on the line account for a very big sample in the grand scheme. And as far as Kohli is concerned there's more then enough material out there to make an informed judgement and ABDV as well.

Also can people just respond to the OP, it's a hypothetical scenario and am sure you're all smart enough to comprehend that. Your'e making out as if Amla/ABDV are beyond a WC final as much as Mcregor was when it came to his chances in the Floyd fight 
Again, we're assuming that ABDV , Amla and Kohli are all available for a World Cup final where 320 runs are required; whom do you back out of the three ? this is seriously simple question friends, really not that complicated

Afridi was averaging 24.80 with the ball between Mar 12 2011 - Mar 12 2012 (Day of Kohli's 183)
Ajmal was averaging 18.85 with the ball between Mar 12 2011 - Mar 12 2012 (Day of Kohli's 183)
Hafeez was averaging 28.00 with the ball between Mar 12 2011 - Mar 12 2012 (Day of Kohli's 183)
That wasn't a weak bowling attack at all.
Kohli chased that mammoth score by putting up 183 at a SR of 123. The second highest scorer was Sharma with 68. That shows his class that day.
The sample size isn't there for ICC knockout games. And laughing at SL or BANG who made it to the knockout rounds is absurd.
And no I can't imagine AB playing in a WC final. He's South African.

That was Kohli's best knock although I don't personally care about the Asia Cup which is why I rate the 43 in the ICC CT 2013 higher , outside that knock he has thrived in the KO games mostly against BD and Lanka but against AUS in AUS and vs Pak in ENG he failed.

Another point to add to the sample size not being a useful metric is that all it takes is one big knock in a crunch game on the grandest stage of them all which immortalises ones legacy, Inzi did in 1992, Aravinda de Silva in 1996 etc people never forget innings of such a magnitude.
The trio in the OP still have a chance at glory come the WC in 2019 but as it stands I'd take ABDV based on his knock vs NZ in NZ during the 2015 WC semi-final

Well Kohli has the most centuries while chasing in ODI's history, many of them coming while chasing big totals so I guess its a no brainer.
