Jadon Sancho - Discussion Thread

i mean £77M for Sancho is a bargain, as always expect Woodward to miss out on this because he doesnt want to pay the £5m extra they want, only to then go and sign Ismaila Sarr on deadline day for £50m

Can we sign him already? This cub is so incompetent when it comes to signing. Teams like Chelsea get the job done nice and early, yet we are penny pinching over 5-10 million and will probably drag this transfer saga over the whole summer, just like we did last summer. We seriously need some proper footballing people at the top.

TBH, its not easy dealing with BvD, this is really there loss, from £120m last summer to £80M, when we offered £100M last summer they didnt want it.

Chelsea only get the job done early because they over pay for most players and clubs dont hesitate to sell on first bid.
MU on the other hand is run by investment bankers, who under bid and keep teasing clubs to test the waters, unlike the investment banking world, in football if you dont get the deal signed before deadline day you have to wait till the window reopens, which they still havnt understood.

They bid 67m for him. They took the **** with that bid. Just bid £80m and get him nice and early, so we can focus on other areas. We desperately need a top class CB and top class CDM.

Jadon Sancho: England manager Gareth Southgate explains why forward is struggling for chances at Euro 2020

Gareth Southgate insists he is being realistic about the expectations he can put on Jadon Sancho and the other inexperienced members of the England squad.

There was a clamour for Jack Grealish to come off the bench in Friday's goalless Group D draw with Scotland, with many feeling the Aston Villa captain should be a starter for the Three Lions.

Similarly, Sancho is yet to play a single minute at Euro 2020 and the 21-year-old did not even make the bench for the opening win over Croatia.

Bukayo Saka has also yet to feature, while fellow teenager Jude Bellingham was a late substitute in the first game.

Southgate named England's youngest starting XI at a major tournament for the drab Scotland draw but it still contained the likes of experienced internationals Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling and John Stones.

Asked specifically about Sancho being involved in Tuesday's clash with the Czech Republic, Southgate replied: "We've got some explosive options and a lot of them are young players and experiencing a big tournament for the first time.

"So as a coaching staff we are realistic about our expectations of them as individuals.

"Jadon is in that mix. He's trained well the last few days and of course we have got those options and those decisions to make."

Manchester United have increased their offer for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho to 85m euros (£72.6m).

United have already had one bid for the 25-year-old England winger turned down by Dortmund and their latest is still 10m euros short of the German club's valuation.

Manchester United are “getting closer” to the signing of Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho.

The proposed deal is believed to be in the region of £77million with the clubs finalising the payment structure and add-ons.

Manchester United have agreed a fee in principle with Borussia Dortmund for England winger Jadon Sancho.

It is understood United will pay Dortmund 85m euros (£73m) for the 21-year-old, who joined them from Manchester City in 2017.

Personal terms are yet to be finalised and a medical completed but neither are expected to be a problem.

£73M that is a lot of money for a guy who's not exactly an international regular.

Let's see how he does. Interesting times at Man Utd coming up.

LOL - £73M is a bargain, they wanted £120m and we offered £85M they rejected and now we got him at £73M.

He was easily the best winger in germany, nothing to read into him not being an international regular, southgate is a clown but it was probably this transfer why hes not selected and the germans are baffled themselves, but no one cares, hes a young top class player who will fill the vaccum we have had on the right wing for so many years.

MUs new sponsers and kit should be announced today, which means the deal can finanly be announced.

Time to move to on to Varane now.

Jadon Sancho: 'A talented traiblazer and hybrid of the modern age'

Jadon Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City aged 17
The 'cultural reboot' Manchester United let it be known they were aiming for after Jose Mourinho's departure and the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2018 is difficult to define.

United are not the only ones to talk about their "DNA" as though there is a coherent thread running through an organisation more than 100 years old.

In truth, it is merely a nod to the time a club was at its best - reminders which recapture former glories, and generate a feel-good factor with the promise of better times to come.

To that end, the prospect of a young Londoner playing on the right wing at Old Trafford, even if the famous number seven shirt cannot be his just yet as it belongs to Edinson Cavani, brings recollections of David Beckham.

And his style, speed, directness and ability to beat an opponent with a deft piece of skill or movement of the hips, is straight out of the playbook created by, among others, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and George Best.

The return of Jadon Sancho to Manchester, four years after he left City for Borussia Dortmund, will be one of the biggest deals of the summer, both for the price and the excitement it generates.

That his value has gone from £10m to £73m underlines the progress the 21-year-old has made in Germany.

But what can United supporters expect from a player returning home to a country where he has never even made the bench for a Premier League game?

Coming 'home'
A lot has happened to Sancho since he went to the Bundesliga.

The decision to move there was triggered by a series of performances during the 2017 European Under-17 Championship, where he was player of the tournament as England reached the final.

Sancho's camp felt the teenager was capable of more than was being offered by the new contract presented to him by Manchester City. A £30,000 weekly salary was evidence of City's hopes for Sancho but, as proved to be the case with Phil Foden, manager Pep Guardiola felt gradual exposure to the first team was the best way forward.

Sancho didn't want to wait. And Dortmund offered him an opportunity.

Twelfth in the Forbes list of the world's richest clubs, they are still, financially, a long way behind Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

Attracting youth is a way of bridging the gap. When they pitch to youngsters, they show off their teamsheet. Last season that included Sancho, Erling Braut Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Gio Reyna. Haaland is 20, Bellingham and Reyna just 18.

"It is obvious," said Sancho, when asked in a 2019 interview why he joined Dortmund. "They play a lot of young players. They have faith in young players.

"It is a big club, in a good league, so why not?"

Sancho's reasoning was sound - and the outcome justifies him snubbing City's contract offer, and the brief time he spent refusing to train at City as his path away was plotted.

But there was an unexpected spin-off, which Sancho can no longer be shielded from.

There is no doubting his popularity in the Dortmund squad. Images of him dancing on the table, leading the celebrations after their German Cup final victory - the only significant honour during his time at the club - show a young man happy in his surroundings, and with his team-mates.

Sancho scored twice in the 4-1 hammering of RB Leipzig so he had every reason to be pleased. However, those scenes largely went unnoticed in England. For most, analysis of Sancho's career has been through periodic reminders of goals or assists.

Given he has never been particularly comfortable in the spotlight or doing media, that suited him just fine.

"Dortmund is very quiet," said Sancho. "London is busier. Dortmund is very chilled, but I like this because I can relax."

In returning to England, the option of operating under the radar is no longer there.

Sancho is in a better place to handle the scrutiny than he was at 17. But it exists - and getting used to it may not be easy.

The street footballer
Sancho is a hybrid of the modern age.

He is an academy product, first at Watford, then at City, but he learned how to play - and how to beat opponents - in street football near his estate in Kennington. He was only seven but would turn up at local tournaments hoping one of the teams was short so he could get a game.

It's that personal history Sancho paid homage to in the design for his own boot collection.

"The street football will never leave me," he said in an interview with Dortmund's YouTube channel. "I grew up with it.

"What I learned from street football is what I have always been doing. It is very different. Football is about having fun."

People around Dortmund wondered prior to Euro 2020 whether England boss Gareth Southgate knew how to integrate that talent into his team. Four games later, Sancho has played for just six minutes.

Now the job falls to Solskjaer.

"My strengths? Skills, dribbling, scoring," Sancho said recently.

After missing the Champions League quarter-final defeat by Manchester City with a thigh injury, Sancho returned for all but the first match of the eight-game winning run which earned Dortmund their first silverware in four seasons and swept them back into the Champions League, having been seven points off the pace with seven games remaining.

Sancho scored four goals in that sequence. He also claimed two assists and was man of the match twice.

His overall tally of 16 goals and 20 assists in all competitions, added to 20 and 20 respectively from the previous campaign, underlines his status as one of Europe's most dangerous young players. It is why United have been prepared to make him the fourth most expensive signing in the club's history, after Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire and Romelu Lukaku.

Old head on young shoulders
Sancho was in year eight when he was placed in a boarding school by Watford to reduce his travelling. At 14, he left for Manchester. At 17 he moved to Germany.

That career path confirms both Sancho's mental strength and his desire to succeed.

A couple of years ago, he said his determination was being fuelled by the exploits of Kylian Mbappe and Marcus Rashford, 15 and 29 months older than him respectively. One has won a World Cup. The other is in line to win 50 England caps before he reaches 24. Ambition is evidently not an issue either.

"If you are serious about football, you have to make sacrifices," he said recently.

"You can't be afraid. You can't be the best if you don't take chances."

Sancho, without setting out to be, has become a trailblazer for other promising English hopefuls who fear their talent may be blunted at home through lack of opportunity.

He has never really got to grips with German but has adapted to the country admirably. He no longer has his parents around quite as frequently as he did when he initially moved from City and, despite his tender age, he is one of Dortmund's longest-serving players.

He had control of the music in the dressing room. He helped Bellingham, in particular, settle in.

Sancho has been disciplined at times, but those who have seen him do not believe him to be guilty of anything more than pushing boundaries, which is not exactly unusual in young men of his age. Punishments have been accepted graciously.

Getting to wear the captain's armband for a few minutes against Augsburg in February was an incredibly proud moment.

Without being sure whether they would meet Sancho again, at the end of last season, some Dortmund staff members thanked him for his contribution over the previous four years.

Evidently, a bond exists between player and club that will probably always remain.

England winger Jadon Sancho has had a medical as his £73m move to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund edges closer.

United agreed the fee for the 21-year-old on 1 July but the deal could not be concluded until after Euro 2020.

Sancho was driven into United's Carrington training complex on Tuesday and was later pictured leaving.

United are expected to formally announce the former Manchester City youth player's arrival later this week.

Sancho had a penalty saved along with Bukayo Saka as England lost to Italy in a penalty shootout at the Euro 2020 final.

Marcus Rashford missed his penalty at Wembley on Sunday and all three players were targeted on social media after the game.

Although he was a team-mate of Phil Foden at Manchester City prior to his exit for Dortmund in 2017, Sancho never played a first-team game for the Blues.

His only competitive club game in England came in a Champions League defeat by Tottenham at Wembley in February 2019.

Sancho was injured for both legs of Dortmund's quarter-final with Manchester City last season.

Jadon Sancho transfer: Man Utd expected to confirm £73m signing of Borussia Dortmund winger within days

Manchester United are expected to confirm the £73m signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho within days.

Sancho completed a medical on Tuesday ahead of finalising his transfer, having already agreed personal terms with the Old Trafford club.

The former Manchester City youth-team player is expected to go on holiday once the formalities are completed, with the new Premier League season less than a month away.

The 21-year-old was one of three England players to miss a penalty in Sunday's Euro 2020 final shootout defeat by Italy at Wembley, along with soon-to-be club-mate Marcus Rashford and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka.

All three players were targeted with racist abuse on social media after the defeat.

Dortmund's asking price for Sancho at the start of the window was in excess of £85m, while the deal is also £35m less than the £108m valuation the German club placed on him last summer.

Sancho's contract at Dortmund runs until the summer of 2023 and they have opted to sell him now rather than next summer, when having just a year on his contract would have caused his value to depreciate.

The Bundesliga club are actively looking at replacements, with PSV's Donyell Malen and Noni Madueke two players they have extensively scouted.

City retain a sell-on clause and are set for a windfall from their cross-city rivals should the transfer go through.

The winger came through Watford's academy before joining City in 2015, but he moved to Dortmund in 2017 after declining the offer of a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.

Sancho swiftly established himself as a key player at Dortmund, and has scored 50 goals in 137 appearances for the German club.

Jadon Sancho completes £73m move to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund

England winger Jadon Sancho says joining Manchester United is "a dream come true" after he completed his £73m move from Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho is the second most expensive English player of all time behind his new United team-mate Harry Maguire.

He joins United on a five-year deal.

"I'll always be grateful to Dortmund for giving me the opportunity to play first-team football, although I always knew that I would return to England," 21-year-old Sancho said.

"The chance to join Manchester United is a dream come true and I just cannot wait to perform in the Premier League.

"This is a young and exciting squad and I know, together, we can develop into something special to bring the success that the fans deserve."

United agreed the fee for Sancho on 1 July and his five-year contract with the club has a further 12 month option.

The completion of the deal brings to an end United's protracted pursuit of former Manchester City player Sancho. They had expected to sign him last summer but could not agree a fee.

Sancho scored 50 goals and registered 57 assists in 137 appearances for Dortmund.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Old Trafford will give Sancho "the platform he needs to release his untapped talent".

"Jadon epitomises the type of player I want to bring to the club - he is a forward player in the best traditions of Manchester United," Solskjaer told the club website.

"He will form an integral part of my squad for years to come and we look forward to seeing him blossom. His goals and assists records speak for themselves and he will also bring tremendous pace, flair and creativity to the team."

Jadon Sancho: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dismisses questions over 'exceptional' Manchester United winger's form

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dismissed questions over Jadon Sancho's form and insisted the summer signing will shine in a Manchester United shirt.

Sancho scored 16 goals and had 20 assists in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund last season, but is yet to register in either category since his £73m move to Old Trafford this summer.

England manager Gareth Southgate suggested Sancho's recent form was not worthy of the international call he received on Thursday and said he would need help settling in the Premier League.

But Solskjaer was left to ask if Southgate had been watching the night before, when Sancho played 75 minutes of United's 2-1 Champions League win over Villarreal.

"Was that interview done before Wednesday night?" he said when Southgate's comments, made on Thursday afternoon, were put to him.

"Jadon was exceptional, he was electric. The crowd loved him and I think he felt that connection.

"He was direct, positive, he went past the full-back numerous times. Yes, he's not scored yet but I thought, 'that's Jadon and we're going to see lots of that'.

"Gareth has also said it's important that Jadon knows (England) believe in him and are invested in him."

Where have the real Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford gone? Jamie Redknapp and Roy Keane discuss

Jadon Sancho is a "shadow" of his former self and has a challenge to ignite his Manchester United career, says Jamie Redknapp, whilst Roy Keane is worried for "lost" Marcus Rashford and wants the club to get to the bottom of his dramatic loss of form.

The England duo's form was discussed in the wake of an impressive first start of the season for Anthony Elanga as Manchester United drew 2-2 with Aston Villa. The 19-year-old was selected ahead of Sancho, who cost United £73m in the summer but only has one Premier League goal to his name this season.

Elanga looked full of intent and energy on the left flank and United missed his influence when he was replaced by Sancho with 12 minutes to play as Ralf Rangnick's side allowed a two-goal lead to slip.

Rangnick said Elanga "showed what I expected of him and why I decided to play him from the start" when asked whether the young Swedish star is now ahead of Sancho in the pecking order but added: "We've got so many games to play, I'm not thinking who is ahead of who."

However, Redknapp feels Sancho now has a very difficult task of convincing the manager to pick him in front of Elanga.

"Sancho has a massive challenge on," Redknapp said.

"He made an impact today when he came onto the pitch. When you come on, you hope to make a bit of magic but in this case, he's come on and the team has drawn 2-2 when he's supposed to be the player to help the team.

"He's low on confidence. I'm watching him play and he's a shadow of the player we saw in the Bundesliga. He's good in close areas but my biggest worry is that he doesn't have the pace to run past people.

"That's why Elanga played today. In the first few minutes, United played a ball down the line and he chased it. Sancho doesn't do that. That's a real worry for him. It's a big challenge for him. He's got to say he's up for the challenge and play, train and live right and maybe he can get back in the team.

"It's a huge challenge for him and Marcus Rashford."

Thursday's England squad announcement was a significant one for those hoping to be on the plane to Qatar in just two months' time.

Players named in the 28-strong list are leading the way for the World Cup, but those left out have work to do between now and until the squad deadline on 13 November.

One of those up against it is Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho, who was once again omitted by England boss Gareth Southgate and earned the last of his 23 caps in October 2021.

"There were certain players we wanted to keep involved this time," said Southgate on Thursday. "But that said it doesn't mean that this is the end for some of the others who aren't involved."

But Sancho set about trying to prove Southgate wrong in perfect fashion just hours after the announcement, scoring the opening goal in United's 2-0 Europa League victory at Sheriff Tiraspol.

"It is disappointing not to get a call-up but I have to keep working hard and hopefully I do get the call-up for the World Cup," the 22-year-old said afterwards.

"I just have to focus on myself an carry on working hard."

When will Jadon Sancho be back? Erik ten Hag: “It’s unlikely that Jadon will be back for the game against Nottingham Forest on Dec 27”.

German football allows tune and space. It's not too dissimilar to international football but the transition to EPL is very difficult. English football is hectic and players often don't make the change.

Jadon Sancho could return for Manchester United's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Reading on Saturday at Old Trafford after a three-month absence.

The 22-year-old last played in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea in October.

Manager Erik ten Hag revealed that "physical and mental issues" had kept the forward out, with Sancho returning to first team training last week.

"He is training with the team and we will see," said Ten Hag in Friday's pre-match news conference.

"I said he's on the way back, he's making steps."

This fixture comes during a busy period for United, with nine games in the next 30 days.

Diogo Dalot remains out, while fellow full-back Luke Shaw is a "question mark" after missing Wednesday's 3-0 League Cup win against Nottingham Forest through illness.

Jadon Sancho says he has been "a scapegoat for a long time" after Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag said he was dropped for Sunday's game at Arsenal because of poor training performance.

The England forward did not travel to Emirates Stadium for the game, which United lost 3-1.

Ten Hag said Sancho had not reached the "level" required to be included.

"Please don't believe everything you read," Sancho wrote on social media.

"I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself very well in training this week.

"I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!"

Sancho, 23, moved to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund for £73m in 2021.

However, he has struggled for consistent form and has scored nine league goals and provided just six assists in his 58 appearances.

Explaining his decision not to pick Sancho for his squad to travel to Arsenal, Ten Hag said: "Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him.

"You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected."

Sancho insisted he would continue to fight for his place at the club, adding: "All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.

"I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so, which I know every week is a challenge.

"I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what."

In February, Ten Hag spoke of his pride in "magnificent" Sancho after the winger made a goalscoring return to the Premier League.

He had spent three months battling physical and mental issues, with Ten Hag at one point saying the England international was not fit enough to play.

Sancho returned to action in the EFL Cup semi-final win against Nottingham Forest on 1 February and a week later sparked a comeback against Leeds in the Premier League, scoring the equaliser in a 2-2 draw.

Jadon Sancho: What went wrong at Manchester United?

Jadon Sancho's return to Borussia Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season is the latest stage of a troubled £73m transfer.

The move provides a temporary resolution to a dispute between Sancho and Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag that erupted into the public domain at the beginning of September and has not gone away.

But it also allows all sides to press reset on a costly deal that has not turned out as United or Sancho hoped.

When it became apparent Sancho had been omitted from Ten Hag's squad for the Premier League defeat at Arsenal on 3 September, it was something of a surprise.

Off the back of a decent pre-season, Sancho had made three substitute appearances as United made a stuttering start to the new campaign.

There was no word from United beforehand about any issue, so it was not until the post-match news conference that Ten Hag was asked about Sancho's absence.

Ten Hag's response was blunt: "Because of his performance in training, we didn't select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United."

Sancho did not accept the reasoning and in a now-deleted social media post, hit back almost immediately.

"I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue," he posted. "I have conducted myself very well in training this week.

"I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into. I've been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn't fair."

The touchpaper had been lit. Ten Hag demanded a public apology for the clear challenge to his authority, otherwise Sancho would be frozen out.

Despite numerous pleas - from team-mates and United officials - Sancho has remained silent. Though Ten Hag has repeatedly said Sancho has it in his power to bring the dispute to an end, the 23-year-old either thinks he has nothing to apologise for, or that the Dutchman is being disingenuous, or both.

This was not how it was supposed to be when United, finally, ended their long pursuit of the former Manchester City academy player on 23 July 2021 - paying £73m for Sancho, who had just been part of the England squad beaten in the European Championship final by Italy.

Sancho described the move as "a dream come true". It turned into anything but.

Then United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made his first play for Sancho in the summer of 2020. A £90m fee was spoken about, personal terms were not going to be a problem. However, United got their negotiating strategy wrong.

When Dortmund made it known they were setting a hard deadline of 10 August to agree a deal, which they felt was needed to give them time to find a replacement before a season with a delayed start because of the logistical impact of Covid-19, United ignored it - putting it down to negotiating tactics.

It was a mistake.

Sancho remained at Dortmund for the 2020-21 campaign.

With 16 goals and 20 assists in all competitions, Sancho's final domestic campaign for Dortmund was a success. He scored twice in the German Cup final victory over RB Leipzig, which he started alongside Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham.

"I wanted to sign him," Solskjaer told The Athletic in a recent interview.

"Jadon was put up as the number one target for the right wing by the scouts and when you look at his talent, I could see why. Unfortunately, it has not worked out.

"He's immensely talented and we haven't seen the best of him. I hope we do but he prefers to play left wing… where Marcus [Rashford] plays."

Both in their negotiation and assessment of where their expensive new signing would fit into the team, United erred.

They also either missed, or overlooked, a flaw in Sancho's character that first came to light in March 2018, not long after he had made his first-team debut for Dortmund and fewer than five months after he had been part of the England squad that had won the Under-17 World Cup in India.

Sancho was picked for the England Under-19 squad for the elite qualification round of the European Championship, being held in Macedonia. Before one match against Latvia, Sancho and former Manchester City team-mate - and player of the tournament at the Under-17 World Cup - Phil Foden were late for training and dropped as a disciplinary measure.

Timekeeping was a recurrent theme during Sancho's spell in Germany, but his performances on the field balanced out the hassle of trying to deal with the problem.

The same was not true with England and, despite an excellent first pre-season under Ten Hag, neither was it at United once Sancho's form nosedived in the autumn, after it became obvious he would miss out on selection for the World Cup in Qatar.

Sancho missed United's final four games before the 2022 World Cup with an unspecified illness.

Ten Hag addressed the issue during his club's December training camp in southern Spain, which Sancho missed as he travelled to the Netherlands to work with coaches Ten Hag knew on his personal training programme.

"He was not in the right status or fitness state," said Ten Hag. "I have had several talks with Jadon.

"When the league started, he played some good games, but after we got a drop of levels. Sometimes you don't know why or what is causing it. Most of the time it comes slowly. First you observe but the stats back it up. In the start of the season he had goals and assists but his key moments and key actions became less and less.

"It's a combination of physical but also mental. We're trying to research and get him back."

It was 1 February 2023 before Sancho featured in a competitive game, but with two goals in his first five games, it did seem whatever resolution had been worked on, it had been successful.

Sancho scored in his final Premier League appearance of the campaign and started the FA Cup final defeat by Manchester City.

As with United as a whole, the 2023-24 season promised much. As with United, the disappointment has been immense.

In his most recent comments on Sancho - in an interview with the fanzine United We Stand - Ten Hag was asked if he had any regrets over how he had handled the Sancho situation. His answer was as blunt as it was after the Arsenal game.

"No," he said. "I would not do anything different."

One of the reasons Ten Hag was brought to Old Trafford was to instil a sense of discipline. Some observers feel he has been perfectly justified in taking the stance he has. Others feel Sancho has been treated unfairly, especially considering some of the other issues involving players that have not triggered the same hard-line stance.

United's hierarchy have backed the manager. This has come at a price.

The club say the loan to Dortmund is financially attractive to them. Dortmund sources question how this can be the case given how their side of the deal stacks up.

There is no doubt if United were to try to sell the player in the summer, they would get nothing remotely close to what they paid for him. It is hard to imagine any club matching the player's £300,000-a-week salary either. For now, a return to Dortmund makes sense.

The space will also allow Ineos representatives Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc a chance to get their heads round the situation and determine next steps. Ten Hag's own future will be significant in that.

Holding out to see if Ten Hag stays as United manager may just have been Sancho's long-term plan all along.

Did Sancho need to apologize to return in Man United squad?

Ten Hag: “Yes, we have said that before. But I don't want every time to return to that point...”.

“Jadon knows what he should do, we have made that clear”.

“Let’s stop the discussion”, told Sky.

Jadon Sancho

Having joined the club for £73million in 2022, Sancho was expected to become a key man for Manchester United, however a high-profile fallout with Erik ten Hag has led him to rejoin Borussia Dortmund on loan.

Asked if there’s a way back for Sancho, Sanderson said: “I don’t think so, do you? He hasn’t apologised to Erik ten Hag, has he?

“Look at what happened with Rashford. He made his mistake and clearly had that conversation with Ten Hag.

“Whether fans agree that he got into the next squad or not, he apologised and they moved on.

“I don’t necessarily think that Jadon Sancho needs to apologise because we don’t know what’s happened behind the scenes but at this point I just don’t see a way back for him at Manchester United.”
