Pretty much as good a team you can get for post post 90s cricketers.

I would though replace one of the fast bowlers with Murali, or go with a spin AR instead of Kallis. That would make it truly an all conditions team.

Great list.

5 Australians but I would say all were deserving ones.

People usually downplay Sehwag due to his poor stats outside SC. But he still finds place in most of the XI of his contemporaries. Tell you what an impact he had on opposition even if he dint score big runs.

Sehwag has a massive repo with his peers. Most cricketers and experts rate him high. Only some nerds on the internet choose not to appreciate his game changing abilities.

Another ATG XI with Sehwag in it and Younis nowhere to be found. Wonder why.

Sehwag is competing with 2-3 other openers, Younis with at least a dozen middle order batsmen. It's also very hard for any batsman to replace Ponting, Lara, Tendulkar, and Kallis who are occupying the entire middle order.

I have noticed even in exhibition games Sehwag mostly takes the hype away from some of the other bigger names around him and outperforms them on the big stage.

Sehwag certainly was the Jayasuriya of his time. In fact a superior version of him.

Mcgrath and ambrose in one team is an overkill of accuracy and boredom. Mcgrath should be there along with one fast bowler like steyn or Donald.

There are only 2 opening slots compared to 4 middle order positions. Sehwag has worthy rivals in Hayden, S Smith, Cook, Warner, Gibbs and Langer and he trumps most of them to figure in ATG XIs.

Even if I were to agree with your point about Sehwag having less of a competition, I wonder why that is the case. Is opening inherently more challenging hence a paucity of truly ATG openers as opposed to middle order bats? I suppose that automatically makes Sehwag superior to Younis.

Sehwag is way superior to younis, this doesn't even need a discussion.

Yes, I will take Sehwag over Younis in tests because though Younis was excellent in Asia, Sehwag was probably the GOAT batsman on such tracks.

Openers have the toughest job in tests. For the same reason, Sunny is a better batsman than Tendulkar for me.

Most of the openers you mentioned are not even ATGs so easy for Sehwag to beat them.

Aussies were the dominant team when he was playing. It's a fair one, no complaints.

If a test match is being played in either of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh which together constitute literally half of world cricket, you have to have Sehwag at the top.

No one in the history of the game has had the ability equal to Sehwag at SMASHING bowling lineups and turning the match inside couple of sessions.

And this is while completing ignoring what he could obviously do on not so seaming tracks overseas as well which is where pretty much most SC batsmen scored their away runs anyway. Its not like Tendulkar, Dravid, YK etc were regularly making runs on tough overseas pitches. Most of their runs overseas came on pitches Sehwag had full ability to do the same as a middle order accumulating batsmen if not as a flashy opener.
