Javed Miandad speaking on TV

"Its a matter of great pride for the nation and yk has achieved this milestone after hardwork and shown us his calibre as a player "

"His cricket is top quality and he is probably the fitest person in the team"

"If Pakistan has new and upcoming cricketers of good quality then Younis can leave but if not, then it's up to the PCB to see if Younis Khan can play for another year or so as that would be good for Pakistan "

Good point - even I am starting to feel that but does YK want to play as regular player any more?

We are never going to find a replacement if we are not going to give the youngsters a chance. It is Younis' time to go.

We thank him for his services and wish him best of luck for his future endeavors, prolonging his career would only ruin his legacy in the eyes of the fans like it did with Misbah.

You will find a replacement when you replace him. Simple as that. Azhar Ali is officially 33. Most average or above average cricketers retire by the time they're 35, or 36 at most. PCB should be looking for a replace for him! Just because we have 2 guys that played till their 40's (and kept performing) doesn't mean everyone can, will or should.

I would love to see Younis continue as a batsman, hand on my heart I can see him breaking the record for most Test hundreds because as a batsman he has a lot left in the tank and it would be great for Younis to guide the new crop of batsman which are coming through such as Babar Azam and Harris Sohail they could learn a lot batting alongside Younis and his presence in the dressing room as a mentor, leader and figure of advice when it comes to technical and mental aspect would be amazing during this rebuilding phase for Pakistan.

But it's up to the PCB if they want Younis Khan's services.....the ball is in their court. Either way I am content because Younis has satisfied all of us in the ultimate way by having such a glorious career and ending it having broken the 10K barrier and being the first Pakistani to do so.

It's not a matter of finding Younis's replacement but what he can still offer to the team and being a key member moving forward during this rebuilding phase, the opposing side of the argument is fine to e.g throwing talent at the deep end and elevating them from within the set up.

He has scored a painstaking 50 against the mighty West Indians and now we going pay price for that, I'm afraid.
FGS, rebuilding can not be started until the oldies make way for new people. They are scoring only against weak opponents which every young player can do.

No, Younis should just retire now. He already reached 10K runs milestone and overseas tours are over. It is time to replace him and Misbah with Fawad and Haris.

As much as I would love it, for the betterment of the team it is time that The Last Outlaw rides off into the sunset with his head held high. The Pakistani Batman giving up his cowl and helping people in other ways (batting coach?).

We'll need the home tests this year to develop guys like Haris, Fawad, Rizwan, etc and that cannot happen as long as the legendary Younis is in the team and everyone else is complacent because they know Khan will bail them out of trouble.

Time to move on. How can we ever replace him if he still playing? Misbah is replaceable, replacing Younis will be difficult. Not everyone has ability to score big. His grit and character are admirable as well. Yes he struggled vs lateral movement but his ability to play spin and score in the 4th innings is something which will take a long time to replace.

Think Harris Sohail can do a good job though.

depends if younis wants to play for pakistan or not.

yes we need him, but if he wants to play then he has to let his prode go and play as a player only and not captain.

azhar ali is a replacement for younis

Misbah and Younis should not be allowed to retire together. One needs to stay a few more years to help the likes of Babar out. Without them our middle order seems very vulnerable.

Well that's all that Younis needed for Miandad bhai requesting him to stay on. Now he stays.

It's time to retire.

The big series (AUS, NZ, and ENG) are gone.

Every time a good player wants to retire on time you hear people start talking like this. When that same player starts failing, they say he stayed on too long. :))

Let the man retire with some semblance of form and dignity.

He can easily continue on and score some runs in the series with BD.

Or we can allow a newer batsman the upcoming series against BD, SL etc so that he has time to gel into the team and is prepared for tougher challenges rather than throwing him into tough series straight away...
