According to reports, Afridi really lay into Miandad in his book.

Before the presentation at the Chennai Test (141 by Afridi), Afridi says Miandad said to 'make sure' he thanked his influence. After not letting him practice in the nets with the team before the match... Afridi called him a small man and said that he had a sense of entitlement. He also criticised his tenure as DG PCB, saying nothing was achieved except for Miandad collecting a salary.

Afridi’s book is going to be fun. He’s played with so many coaches, captains, players over the decades.

*grabs popcorn*

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 2nd May, 2019) Legendary cricketer Javed Miandad has responded to the allegations Shahid Afridi made in his autobriography.

Javed Miandad said that masala (spice) is always added to the books. Shahid Afridi has written what he wanted to write.

“I leave all these allegations to Allah. Is it possible that a cricketer is not allowed to do net practice before a test match?” he said.

He said that he always made the players do net practice and Salahuddin Salu is a witness.

“Allah has given me much respect. Allah also has a rule. If a person is bad, he gets infame and if he is good, he gets good respect,” Miandad said.

People respect me all over the world today. They respect me because they know I have served Pakistan, he added.

“I was the coach of Pakistan team, every person can give my example,” he further said.

“I worked all my life keeping Allah in my mind.

These allegations don’t make any difference. All of this will be evaluated on the Day of Judgment. Every person will get to know about their deeds then,” Miandad added.

Shahid Afridi has made some startling revelations in his autobiography ‘Game Changer’.

Shahid Afridi has criticised many fellow cricketers, including the legendary ones. He criticised various cricketers, incluing Waqar Younis, Shoaib Malik and Javed Miandad.

In his autobiography, Afridi revealed that he was not 16 when he played his first one-day match. He was 19-year-old then.

He wrote that Javed Miandad did not like his batting style, alleging that he was not allowed to do net practice before Chennai test in 1999.

Afridi wrote that he thought of Miandad as a great cricketer but he is an inferior person. He said that he was forced to praise Miandad in the presentation ceremony.

So he agrees that he was getting paid for doing nothing. Great batsmen, but a very shameless person.

Dignified response. Glad Miandad didn't resort to mud-slinging like our ex-cricketers are prone to

Everyone know he was getting paid by sitting at home. Thats what Afridi said too but you know more then Afridi.

When did Afridi claim Miandad was getting paid "sitting at home"?

And when did Miandad agree to anything Afridi said? Dont spew rubbish without reading the opening post

Stop talking rubbish when you don't know any

He also criticised his tenure as DG PCB, saying nothing was achieved except for Miandad collecting a salary. This is from another thread " He also criticised his tenure as DG PCB, saying nothing was achieved except for Miandad collecting a salary". What does this mean?

This doesn't equate to collecting salary while at home. Dont exaggerate things. "Nothing was achieved" is a figure of speech, meaning nothing substantial was achieved while Miandad was DG.

And you've never given proof of Miandad agreeing to anything Afridi said. I'd advice you to read the OP properly before labeling anyone "shameless"

Why even these cricketers write any books and wash their dirty laundry in the public?

It's not that they don't already have tons of money?

Pathetic!

Got to be some truth in this. Afridi probably exaggerated, but we all know that Miandad, Amir Sohail didn't like Afridi's batting style.

That already happened on the first episode of this saga. When Miandad accused Afridi of fixing matches for Pakistan back in 2016-17

Javed Miandad did nothing as DG of PCB yet collected a hefty paycheck. He also has zero man management skills hence multiple failed stints as coach.

However I wouldn't blame Javed for being fed up with Afridi's reckless batting as every coach after him were.

Afridi and Miandad - too polar opposites.

I knew that afridi will open the pandora box on the name of book. His book will be full of mud slinging and self obsession. An attempt for getting cheap publicity and this is what we can expect from the peoples who do not have educational background.

I would like to see what Afridi has to say about the Qayyum report and the defeat against Bangladesh in the 1999 world cup... not just the episode on the spot fixing fiasco that he conveniently avoided.

Ofcourse the real pandora box will open when the big names are out in the open that can shake the entire core of the cricketing fraternity. These allegations will do no harm to anyone.

Miandad is a cry baby, he will whine about it then be quiet again. The fact is besides the Chennai test we saw Afridi's career as an opening batsman was correctly assessed by Miandad. So no surprises there.

I am sure this truth telling machine will also have write about his ball biting incident, also how he used javed afridi to prolong his career. The day when he was about to beat his fans will also be in his book. How he used the group of nonsense people like akmal & shehzad against misbah & waqar must have part of book.

He will never open his mouth on justice Qayyum report. He was the part of famous political group headed by akram in late 90s. Salim, aijaz, moin, afridi & saqlain were the members of that filthy group. Though afridi was not involved in fixing but that group was.

did afridi critisize misbah?

He won't do that. One is supporting the other's foundation, and the other supporting his effort to build a children's hospital. When interest align everything else takes a back seat. Not that its a bad thing, that is the mature way to handle it. Pretty sure there was some beef between the two but they never made it public.

Not only that the guy was a mere passenger in the side with his once in a blue moon performance. But he was always the blue eyed boy of Wasim's captaincy with his good looks to boot. He could do no wrong in the skipper's eyes.

Miandad was not DG of pcb in fact he was DG domestic cricket. As far as it is related with he did nothing then listen no one can do anything in pcb as pcb has its own working culture where only those survives who do the things like nepotism, boot licking, liking disliking, close door politics.

MD wasim khan is the perfect example so if wasim unable to do in todays world then how Miandad could have do 15 years back & when the things were more undercover.

We are comparing a ball biter who has embarrassed Pakistan and broken hearts on many occasions against a Champ in Miandad who would break into most World XI’s.

Sorry but Afridi’s statements dont hold too much weight as he himself has had grudges against many players.

Miandad never tainted Pakistan cricket Image Vs Afridi. Finger-pointing his character is cheap.

what were the refrences

Bhai it will take me some time to get the exact text... But here is a rough overview.

He mentioned there are haters and lobbies online and on social media against him. He said it's the same case with Misbah.

He mentioned the scoop in the 2007 WT20 final. "It was a scoop that should have been a leg glance. Or a flick. Or even a paddle or sweep".

He mentioned that after he left captaincy, Misbah took over and 'conducted proceedings wonderfully without any politics or infighting'.

He mentioned Mohali, but not Misbah's innings - he discussed the dropped catches (Misbah was 1 of the 4 who dropped Sachin).

He mentioned the final goodbyes with Misbah during his farewell match.

That's pretty much it.

I liked both players but Javed is an all time great, a legend and most would have him bat for there life. Afridi was exciting at times, but unreliable, inconsistent and no way even close to Javed as a cricketer.

Nobody should judge but what can be seen is:
Afridi has had a few incidents where he tried to cheat such as ball biting, dancing or pitch tampering etc.

Also, don’t think Javed was dishonest or did a bad job as coach or director whatever. As coach he resigned himself each time because big egos in the team did not give him the respect he deserved (just like when he was captain in his day)...

just like Younis Khan was an okay captain and couldn’t perform because of conspiracies and plotting by other players who were lazy or wanted the captaincy...and btw Pak won world T20 under Younis. Javed had similar problems to a Younis.

Javed was up against coaching and managing match fixers and players wanting to do what they want.

As the PCB director again even Javed said what’s the point when he isn’t given a free reign to make positive changes. Did he not again resign himself?

Resigned after eating PKR 108,000,000 in Salaries, Perks, Benefits for 4-5 years for doing nothing. He could have resigned and quit from Day 1 if he wasn't given a free reign to do anything for Pakistan Cricket but who cares about Pakistan Cricket, its all about maximizing what you can get

Probably your right he should have but who wouldn’t’t take a cushy job doing ‘nothing’ if indeed he didn’t nothing. ( Players in his days btw got nothing compared to now). However, who knows what his intentions were but him.
Javed isn’t perfect and neither is Afridi or anyone else but one thing for sure Miandad (and Imran) are 2 players who represented Pakistan that were most passionate patriotic and did most for Pak cricket than probably any other player to date. Even the great Viv Richards has said he hasn’t seen anyone as patriotic and care so much for there country than Imran Khan and Javed Miandad. He has picked Javed as one that he would choose to bat for his life.

So he agrees that he was getting paid for doing nothing. Great batsmen, but a very shameless person.

You don't have to like him, that's your opinion, but you should be ashamed of yourself for using those crude words for the batsman who single-handedly kept the Pakistan batting intact for years and won so many games for Pakistan.

Afridi speaking during book launch tonight:

"The media has highlighted small negative bits from my book"

"I was taken aback as there is also positive bits there too; If I have said something negative then there is also a background story to it and context to it also"

"Any issues I have with seniors are already known to the media but all I have done is given more details to show what was the reason for the issue"

Former Test cricketer Javed Miandad observed a huge change in Shahid Afridi’s behavior and he called him a changed man.

“He has been changed completely now. His attitude is very disappointing for everyone belongs to cricket fraternity in Pakistan,” Miandad said while talking to the media.

Miandad said that Afridi has tried to add controversies in his biography ‘Game Changer’ to increase its sale. “His book has been written just to earn money,” Miandad added.

It is pertinent to mention here that Afridi called Miandad ‘Little Man’ in Game Changer for his attitude towards him during his playing time.

The member of Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup winning squad further said that he was the biggest supporter of one of the hard-hitting batsmen. “I was the one who guided him back from the dressing room during his brilliant century knock in Canada,” said Miandad while apologizing if he has done something wrong to anyone.

On the other hand, Miandad once again criticized Imran Khan’s current government and said that he will keep on raising his voice against injustice.

“I am not against Imran or his government but every decision which is against the country’s favor,” he said.

Miandad said that his ex-captain has the potential to deliver but he needs to be so strong during taking decisions.

“We all know his ability and commitment but sometimes he lacks in taking decisions,” he said.

Well said the best Pak batsman and one of the greatest ever. He knows Afridi and Imran better than most.

There is something about Afridi I never liked. He does appear very selfish and a back stabbing kind of person. One of those who appears different in person but stinks behind your back. The purpose of every book is not make it interesting so it sells.

Unfortunately this is how everything is - spicy. Sports administrations want to make their brands spicy, media wants to have journalism spicy...you name it. We live in a world where everything sells.

Afridi has not really done himself any favour with this book release.

Sad state of affairs when a person like Afridi resorts to cheap stuff like this in order to make money.

Seems like its never enough.

Watch how everyone will forget about this in a month. Media loves to blow everything out of proportion.

Afridi's Miandad bashing was strategically designed to increase sales of the book in India (biggest cricket market) where Miandad is not particularly popular.
