Joe Biden: President of the United States

https://www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/

Guess what, forget equal, far more whites are killed by police than blacks in America, but MSM has brainwashed you into believing more blacks are killed than whites

You have absolutely no clue how to research and reach your own conclusions, do you?

Stop listening to RW media brainwashing you and reach your own conclusions. If you want to discuss, be ready to back it up using evidence.

Here is mine:

I never said any of the allegations are true. I just don’t know. That aspect of the discussion is beside the point.

That’s like saying waterboarding/humiliating/killing suspect terrorists in Gitmo facilities is ok.

Like I said.. due process.

Floyd and 5 other men broken into a family house with guns , the woman of the house was severley beaten with a gun pointed at her stomach too. They stold goods and left the victim in a horrible state. He was covincted of this. Interestingly Floyd and his gang broke into the house looking for drugs because it was a Latinos house, racist mindset there too.

Due process is a must but to label this bloke as some sort of hero for being murdered is laughable. A terrorist who blows up 100 people but unlawfully murdered into Gitmo is still a terrorist.

Did I say he was a hero? What’s up with you trying to put words into other people’s mouths? Does this technique of distracting from the topic at hand work well for you in real life?

Didnt he hold a gun to a pregnant womans stomach in the past? Or was it fake news? :trump

Was he holding a gun to a pregnant stomach at the moment of his death
Was it the reason he was chocked to death

If not than who cares :kohli

Never suggested you but in general in the US. You must have seen many paintings of him, some with flowers, angel wings, heroic words etc.

If the woman is still alive im sure she cares, her fammily care and perhaps many of his other victims care. He was murdred but was harldy a saint himself.

Thats fine but then dont call it a democracy. Minority appeasement is not democracy. What is the inequality black people faces in modern times anyway? I see fair share of black representation in every field in USA. Heck, the ex president was African American. Black lives matter was a leftist political movement and it makes me sick that so many people falls for such propaganda.

Today Joe Biden talked about White Supremacists and no one bats an eyelid. Imagine he said something so openly about blacks....the world will go bonkers and riots will start.

You didn’t understand my post. Inequality based on race exists in all sectors. Watch 19th on Netflix and you will understand inequality in one sector.

BLM protest for their liberty. White supremacists protest to oppress.

No idea what point you are trying to make here. Mr Floyd had a criminal record, but did not deserve to be murdered by the police. In any event he was just one victim of police in a very long line and the final straw for the black community. No justice, no peace.

Are all 75 million Trump supporters white supermacists?

Many organistations within the BLM dont want liberty but their own state with the US.

I think I wrote in simple enough to understand English. Point is he was unlawfully killed but he was no saint or law abiding citizen. He's no hero but was a criminal with an awful history of violence. Hope that helps.

Probably best to take into account the race distribution of the population however.

Definitely... as a % of their population, more blacks are unlawfully shot by police.

Just like as a % of their population, more blacks are jailed than whites or Asians

Either you are too naive or pretending to be one.

In a very close distribution (half liberals/half conservatives), Trump identified a base that would work for him. The white supremacists who up until now had been largely silent and didn’t turn up in elections because they didn’t think either Dems or republicans favored them .. and rightly so because you don’t want the stigma of white supremacist backing you.

Trump upended the whole thing when he courted them. If you don’t believe me Go to stormfront dot org, a white supremacist forum, and read through their topics. You will understand what I mean. Without saying so, trump quite cleverly supported them. First by colluding with people like Steve Miller, Bannon and then refusing to disavow the people responsible for the Charlottesville tragedy.

He knew in a close right race, if he got them to turn out, he will win. This tactic worked for him i. 2016.

So ... NO... not all his supporters were/are white supremacists. Some are not even American, such as yourself. But his policies and political strategy was based around empowering them. He made them mainstream, he made their whole ideology acceptable by embracing it, under the guise of nationalism or alt right.

People will be writing books on this stuff for years but it’s the most well known or poorly kept secret. He had their back and they had his.

Thanks. In your estimate how many of the 75 million are white supremacists or racists? A rough number will do.

Don't confuse police brutality with racisim. This is the point.

More blacks are killed by blacks, than whites in the USA/UK. Why doesn't the media sensationalise black on black crime if black lives matter?

Simply put; when a white kills a black, it is reported as institutional racism, but when a black kills a black, the media barley reports it, let alone sensationalises the crime.

Why? Please give us an answer.

I don’t know, can’t say off the top of my head. But it’s widely established he did garner their support.

It I personally think once again you are going off on a tangent, away from the point. If you even agree with one or two people with immoral and unethical values and accept their support, is it ok?
Where do you draw the line? Is it ok for you to have maybe just a few of them? Is that somehow better or acceptable than having a thousand or a couple million?

How can you justify that from a righteous standpoint?

Black on black crime is exactly what it is.. as the description says .. criminal blacks killing black people.. it’s an issue and a law and order problem.

But how is that equates to people responsible for law and order killing black people?

Im not running for office but those in America who are in office now and have been all have agreed with immoral and unethical even those who murder and oppress. Biden and Harris love AIPAC and Israel, the most racist, terrorist state in the history of planet Earth. They all sell their soul to the devil in order to gain power. You are horribly wrong if you think Biden/Harrris are people of ethics and morals.

Going off on a tangent again, I see. How is BLM and the legitimacy of its cause related to how ethical or unethical are the current president and VP?

I know it’s the topic of the thread but not what you were trying to argue.

BLM is a righteous cause. Whosoever disagrees with it citing whatever reason, is politicizing it and some who support it also politicize it. Doesn’t mean it’s not a good cause. Let’s leave it at that.

Regarding Biden, I have said it like a dozen times already I am not a fan of him either but I welcome him because he is miles better than the *******d before him.

Its a political org, not just a justice org. Their policies include defunding the police and ending prisons, overthrowing capitalism, raising taxes, allowing hard drugs possesion not be crimanisled etc Many others too , many of which are lunatic proposals. If they were just a group for rights and justice of minorities, I would agree with you.

Don’t believe everything you hear from the RW media. It’s a bunch of disinformation. They don’t want police defunded, or capitalism over thrown. Their cause is very very different from these radical ideas. They simply don’t want their people killed as part of police brutality and want equality.

This is straight from their website: where does it say anything about defunding police and other stuff you are alleging?

Thanks for the post. Im sure ive read some quotes to confirm what I wrote but will have to get back to you some other time. Apology for any rudness, its a good strong debate. Either way, I hope for you and others like you the US becomes a better nation to live in.

I expect little action and a lot of talk. Just like most American politicians.

US President Joe Biden has begun to undo some of Donald Trump's key policies, hours after being sworn in.

In his initial acts as the 46th US president, he signed 15 executive orders - the first to boost the federal response to the coronavirus crisis.

Other orders reversed the Trump administration's stance on climate change and immigration.

President Biden set to work at the Oval Office having been sworn in earlier on Wednesday at the US Capitol.

The inauguration was unlike any other due to coronavirus restrictions, with few present to witness the oaths and ceremonies.

Donald Trump - who has still not formally conceded the presidency to Mr Biden - snubbed the event in a departure from longstanding precedent.

"Democracy has prevailed," President Biden said after taking the oath of office with Chief Justice John Roberts.

Delivering a message of unity after the turbulent Trump years, he promised to be a president "for all Americans" - including those who voted against him.

Three of his predecessors attended the ceremony: Barack Obama - under whom Mr Biden served for eight years as vice-president - Bill Clinton and George W Bush, as well as Mr Trump's vice-president, Mike Pence.

Kamala Harris was sworn in as vice-president ahead of Mr Biden. She is the first woman - and the first black and Asian-American person - to serve in the role.

There was extra-tight security for the ceremony at the US Capitol after the building was stormed by violent pro-Trump protesters on 6 January.

Mr Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, together with Ms Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff, then walked down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House, greeting friends and supporters.

The inauguration ceremony included musical performances by Lady Gaga - who sang the national anthem - as well as Jennifer Lopez and Garth Brooks.

Amanda Gorman, America's first-ever National Youth Poet Laureate, recited her work The Hill We Climb.

A 90-minute televised evening concert entitled "Celebrating America" was staged at the Lincoln Memorial in the city. Hosted by Tom Hanks, it featured Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Jon Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, and Demi Lovato and culminated in a spectacular fireworks display.

"There is no time to waste when it comes to tackling the crises we face," President Biden h tweeted as he headed to the White House following his inauguration.

President Biden "will take action - not just to reverse the gravest damages of the Trump administration - but also to start moving our country forward," a statement detailing his executive orders said.

A series of measures will be enacted to tackle the coronavirus pandemic which has claimed more than 400,000 lives in the US.

There will be a mandate to wear masks and practise social distancing on all federal government property.

A new office will be set up to co-ordinate the response to the pandemic and the US will halt the process - begun by the Trump administration - of withdrawing from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The move to re-engage with the WHO was welcomed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres who said it was "absolutely critical" for a more co-ordinated global response, his spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said.

Mr Biden has also pledged to make the fight against climate change a top priority of his administration.

He signed an executive order beginning the process of rejoining the 2015 Paris climate agreement, from which Mr Trump formally withdrew the US last year.

Mr Biden's climate envoy, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, tweeted that the commitment set "a floor, not a ceiling" for America's climate leadership and urged international co-operation ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference (Cop26) in Glasgow in November.
Mr Biden has also revoked the presidential permit granted to the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline, which environmentalists and Native American groups have fought for more than a decade.

The move will be discussed when Mr Biden makes his first phone call to a foreign leader - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau - on Friday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.

The privately financed pipeline - estimated to cost about $8bn (£5.8bn) - would carry about 830,000 barrels of heavy crude a day from the oil sands of Alberta, in Canada, to Nebraska.

Barack Obama vetoed a bill approving construction of the pipeline in 2015 but the decision was overturned by President Trump.

Why is the Keystone XL pipeline so disputed?
On immigration Mr Biden has revoked the Trump administration's emergency declaration that helped fund the building of a wall along the Mexican border and also ended a travel ban on some majority-Muslim countries.

Other orders cover race and gender equality.

He likely won't even pass $15 minimum wage or a public option for healthcare. Likely will throw breadcrumbs at Americans.

Not at all. You seem to be making the point that BLM is tainted and unworthy because Mr Floyd had a criminal record. You are trying to delegitimise a just cause - ordinary people standing up to an oppressive state apparatus. You support the Palestinians but curiously not the African Americans.

Are all 75 million Trump supporters white supermacists?
.

Very difficult to hold sensible debate with you when you generalise to this silly degree.

A better one is why do you think American Nazis vote for Trump? What does he do for them?

White supremacists and American nazis are not the same thing.

The question should be why did Blacks, Latinos, and Women vote for Trump? Answer is of course he did more for them than any other President because he listened to their concerns.

Of course? What, specifically, did he do for them? That’s a Trump trope with no basis in fact, I think

Trump got 19% of the male black vote and just 5% of the female black vote.

Trump got 32% of the Latino vote, up from 24% in 2016. It could be the rhetoric about building the wall. Most Latinos got into the US by legal means and resent the “wetback” illegals. But Biden got 64% of the Latino vote so clearly most rate him higher than Trump.

That more white women voted for Trump than for Biden is curious. Could be they feel protected by the rigid white patriarchy Trump represents, in the same way that some women stick with an abusive husband.

Job opportunities for blacks and latinos. More blacks were in employment under Trump for example. Dont take my word for it, you can google all of this.

The point i'm making is that it's not just racists who voted for Trump. The majority of Trump voters are not racists or right wing, they are common American folk who have legitimate concerns such as immigration but when they raise these concerns it's the left who brand them racists.

By the way, the wall, it was built by previous Presidents too, including Obama, Trump just planned to extend the wall.

A star-studded concert has marked the beginning of Joseph Biden's presidency, with performances from Foo Fighters, Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and Bon Jovi.

The theme of the concert was not celebration but unity, with tributes paid to the frontline workers who have borne the brunt of the Covid pandemic.

"This day is about witnessing the permanence of our American ideal," said Tom Hanks, who hosted the show.

Bruce Springsteen kicked off the event with his song Land Of Hope and Dreams.

Standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, the lyrics of the song, first performed in 1999, reflected the aspirations of the new administration.

"Leave behind your sorrows / Let this day be the last," sang the star, "Tomorrow there'll be sunshine / And all this darkness past."

Standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, Hanks told viewers the US had "witnessed deep divisions and a troubling rancour" in the last few weeks.

"But tonight," the 64-year-old continued, "we ponder the United States of America, the practice of our democracy, the foundations of our republic, the integrity of our Constitution, the hopes and dreams we all share for a more perfect union."

He added: "Every four years we hear the words that will empower us all on the journey ahead, a message that can unite us as we begin a new passage from where we are, to where we can be. A trek to a common goal, to the promise of our promised land."

Several users on social media picked up on how cold Hanks looked in the low temperatures of night-time Washington in January.

Author Prof Tom Nichols joked: "It's a terrible irony that after surviving all those years on that tropical island that Tom Hanks is going to freeze to death in the middle of a major city."

Others suggested a prediction previously made on The Simpsons, that Hanks would address the nation during a moment of "national chaos", had now come true.

In 2007's The Simpsons Movie, an animated Hanks says as part of a TV advertisement: "The US Government has lost its credibility, so it's borrowing some of mine."

But more for them than any other President? Than Lincoln? Than LBJ?

But you'd agree that the Latino vote for Trump was low and the Black vote extremely low? Because, just maybe, the majority of these groups know a white racist when they see one?

You didn’t understand my post. Inequality based on race exists in all sectors. Watch 19th on Netflix and you will understand inequality in one sector.

BLM protest for their liberty. White supremacists protest to oppress.

Absolutely hilarious generalization and sums up everything that is wrong with left liberals today. Always living in a parallel universe which dosen't exists. So any protest done by whites is to oppress and blacks for liberty? Wow

First do racial generalization like this and then wonder why people like Donald Trump's creeps up every now & then.

He quite clearly said white supremacists, not white people in general?

Not the point on how many voted for past Presidents.

Just because you think Trump is a white racist doesn't mean he is one. He condemned white supremacist groups time and time again but the media never focused on that.

Here's the link. 38 times he denounced and condemned white supremacy:

https://youtu.be/Bd0cMmBvqWc

But again, I would like to know whether the blacks/latinos who voted for Trump were racist? If not how should said voters be referenced?

One last point, despite the police brutality towards Floyd, Trump won a larger share of the black votes in 2020 he increased his share of black votes by 6% compared to 2016. Can see a white racist when they see one?

I think it's time you stop playing the racist card because in my view this line of debate/argument has been thoroughly dispelled and people should start focusing on the real causes of racisim - austerity.

Exactly.

The Left and their sweeping generalisations is the exact reason why society is polarised in the West today.

In UK the left generalised Brexit as a racist endeavour; effectively labelling Brexiteers (of all races colours and creed) as racist.

In the USA it's pretty much the same, any white who voted for Trump is a racist/facist, but any other race vote for Trump, and it's the small percentage of people like excuse.

If only the left were prepared to listen to concerns of the 75M Trump voters.

Trump is a symptom and a wake up call.

Biden will not fare any better, and when he fails to unite the people, you can bet all the money you have uncle Joe supporters will still blame Trump.

Not the point on how many voted for past Presidents.

Just because you think Trump is a white racist doesn't mean he is one. He condemned white supremacist groups time and time again but the media never focused on that.

Here's the link. 38 times he denounced and condemned white supremacy:

To gain a momentary advantage. While dogwhistling to the same racists. "Proud Boys stand back and stand by". "Very good people on both sides." Telling four Congresswomen of colour to go back to their own countries, even though three are born in USA. Taking out full page ads calling for the execution of the Central Park Five and never apologising after they were exonerated. Falsely claiming that thousand of Arabs in NJ were celebrating the WTC collapse. The Birther conspiracy. On and on it goes.

I'll play the race card every time I see racism, because that's the humane thing to do. Failure to stand up to evil is complicity with it.

Right, so Trump denouncing White supremacy in the video is just to gain advantage. This means even if he did other times you would simply say he didn't really mean it. Can't win with the left.

Your definition of racism is utterly diluted and so broad that many people could be racist as per your definition. Also Trump has said a lot towards white people too, you've just cherry picked some lines to present a one sided Trump, just like the media.

Still it doesn't answer the questions of how blacks/latinos Trump voters should be referenced as, if not racists, and why more blacks voted for Trump second time round despite the Floyd incident and subsequent riots etc.

If you want to stand up to evil, don't look at the symptom, look at the cause.

And what is the cause? You keep defending everything trump and bashing everything anti trump.
There is no middle ground with you. I for one would like to hear why you keep saying “don’t look at the symptom”

Please enlighten us us with your infinite wisdom.. what’s the cause and what’s the symptom you keep referring to?

Biden to sign 10 executive orders to tackle Covid

President Joe Biden is set to sign 10 executive orders to boost the fight against Covid which has ravaged the US.

Vaccination will be accelerated and testing increased. Emergency legislation will be used to increase production of essentials like masks.

In a break with former President Donald Trump, the policy stresses a national strategy rather than relying on states to decide what is best.

The moves comes a day after Mr Biden was sworn in as the 46th president.

The Trump administration was widely accused of failing to get to grips with the pandemic.

In terms of total deaths from coronavirus, the US is the worst-hit country with more than 406,000 lives lost according to Johns Hopkins University. Nearly 24.5m have been infected.

What's in the plan?

In his inauguration speech, Mr Biden warned that the coronavirus pandemic in the US was entering its "deadliest period".

Mr Biden's Covid-19 task force co-ordinator, Jeff Zients, told reporters that under Mr Trump there was no strategy at federal level and a comprehensive approach was lacking.

"As President Biden steps into office today, that all changes," he said.

The plan itself says: "The National Strategy provides a roadmap to guide America out of the worst public health crisis in a century."

The aim is to give 100 million vaccine doses by the end of April, and reopen most schools safely within 100 days.

Vaccine centres will be established at stadiums and community facilities.

There will be more funding for state and local officials to help tackle the pandemic, and a new office will be established to co-ordinate the national response.

The Defense Production Act will be used to speed up production of personal protective equipment and essential supplies needed for vaccine production. Mr Trump used the same piece of legislation to compel the production of items in short supply last year.

On top of the already announced rules on wearing masks and social distancing on all federal government property, face coverings will become mandatory on many planes and trains.

"What we're inheriting is so much worse than we could have imagined," Mr Zients said.

In a further break with the previous administration, Mr Biden's chief medical adviser, Dr Anthony Fauci, said the US would join the Covax scheme designed to deliver Covid vaccines to poor countries.

Speaking by video call to the World Health Organization in Geneva, Dr Fauci also stressed that the US would continue to provide funding for the WHO, in line with Mr Biden's move to reverse Mr Trump's decision to leave.

Robert indeed it is quite surprising how many on here actually support that point of view. Even though it has been proven to be a regressive individualistic unproductive viewpoint.

Coming onto the point about Biden. What do I want to see? from my point of view I want an even handed approach to the subcontinent as can be possible. So I would like to see a president for once just treat Pakistan "normally". Thats not asking much but it is important. Sure you can continue to molly coddle the fascists across the border but dont do it at our expense and treat us separately to them..end of..lets talk trade, business and diplomacy..

Finally i hear alot of fellow members disparaging BLM which is quite ridiculous really. When your whole existence is defined by the colour of your skin, your world view is wholly different. As for the Left causing the polarisation in the west, well thats just bunkum.

The left need to be held to account for generalising people as racists simply for voting a particular way.

The logic of the LL is simple, you can only be racist if you're white, and this is utter nonsense as seen by the inability to explain what black/latino Trump voters should be refered as.

Who is generalising people as racists for voting a certain way? I don't think there was as much hooha about previous republican administrations, generally it was accepted that people voted Republican because they either backed their conservative views, or preferred the free market approach as opposed to any social responsibility.

Racism only really became a major issue once Trump came in and decided to tap in on the undercurrent of race friction in the US. I mean he hired Steve Bannon, a well known racist as his right hand man, I don't really think it gets more clear cut than that.

I would rather vote for Trump than Biden if I was a US citizen because I'd fear the latter would make me pay more tax!

Having said that Trump does a have a history of racism. Did you know in the 70s he was fined for refusing to let his property to black people?

Now fast forward to more recent times, due to recall his response to BLM protestors when he said "when the looting starts the shooting starts"?

Contrast this to what he told some of his supporters prior to their invasion of the Capitol.

He's done some good things for America but he's a horrible person.

In the UK, Brexit was, and is, described as a racist endeavour by the left. More so questioning immigration will earn one the racist label too.

Racism in the USA however became a major issue when Obama first became president.

Steve Bannon wants to put white people first; this isn't racist per se, and nothing compared to former KKK member David Duke, who is a racist through and through, wanted to join the Trump campaign as a senior advisor etc, but was rejected by Trump, and ignored. So no, it's not clear cut.

White lives matter - racist.
Black lives matter - social justice.

White Trump voter - racist.
Other race Trump voter - ???

This is the message spun by the LL.

Yes in the 70s it was a different world in the USA, civil liberties and equality for black people was relatively a new thing.

As society we need to stop judging people born in the past by today's standards.

Blacks and Latino Trump voters agree. What is the explanation for Trump earning more votes by said demographics in 2020? Blacks/Latinos voted for Trump not because he is a racist but because of his policies which made a difference to struggling demographics.

No leader is perfect. Obama is a good man, but as a politican he did sweet FA for America, especially for the Black community, which is why he earned less votes from Blacks second time round. Omaba promised change, but didn't bring any change, and more so hired the same cronies whom caused the 2008/9 crash and wrote blank cheques for the banks. Not to mention he built parts of the wall too.

Obama's failures as President created the perfect platform for Trump.

I will say this again, Trump is a symptom, not the cause. Racism isn't going anywhere in the USA, it is reflected within the US constituion too.

The LL need to stop crying racist everytime someone disagrees with them and look at the cause rather than symptoms.

Yes, in a white majority nation. POC cannot be racist there (though they can be racially prejudiced), because racism is structural / institutional. They don't have the power structure behind them to apply race-based inequalities. In a majority non-white nation, POC can be racist.

No wonder some of my question challenging the illogical position of the left are left unanswered.

No point discussing this point any further with the double standards of the left. I am shocked to say the least, though unsurprised.

The administration unveiled a seven-point plan which included efforts to facilitate effective distribution of vaccines and reliable access to testing.

"The American people deserve an urgent, robust and professional response to the growing public health and economic crisis caused by the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak," an introduction to the plan said.

It said Mr Biden believed the government "must act swiftly and aggressively to help protect and support" essential workers and the most vulnerable.

Although executive orders do not require congressional approval, much of the funding for the planned measures is contained in a huge $1.9tn stimulus package announced by Mr Biden last week.

He will need co-operation from the Senate and House of Representatives for the package to be adopted smoothly.

The aim is to give 100 million vaccine doses by the end of April, and reopen most schools safely within 100 days.

President Joe Biden has signed a raft of executive orders to boost the fight against Covid which has ravaged the US.

Vaccination will be accelerated and testing increased. Emergency legislation will be used to increase production of essentials like masks.

Announcing the 10 measures, Mr Biden said it would take months to defeat the pandemic but America would "get through this" if people stood together.

The moves come a day after Mr Biden was sworn in as the 46th president.

In a break with former President Donald Trump, the policy stresses a national strategy rather than relying on states to decide what is best.

The Trump administration was widely accused of failing to get to grips with the pandemic.

In terms of total deaths from coronavirus, the US is the worst-hit country with more than 406,000 lives lost, according to Johns Hopkins University. Nearly 24.5 million have been infected.

Mr Biden said that the "bold practical steps" that he was taking would not come cheaply.

"Let me be clear - things will continue to get worse before they get better," he said, adding that he expected the number of dead to top half a million by next month.

"This is a wartime undertaking," he said, repeating that more Americans had already died in the pandemic than in the whole of World War Two.

He mentioned the vaccine, saying that its rollout had been a "dismal failure so far", and described his plan for 100 million jabs in his first 100 days in office as "one of the greatest operational challenges our nation has ever taken on".

But when challenged by a reporter who suggested the target might be too low, he snapped back: "When I announced it you all said that it's not possible. Come on. Give me a break, man."

Mr Biden also promised to be transparent about setbacks, and allow scientists to work free from political interference.

"I'm convinced the American people are ready to spare no effort to get this done," he concluded. "We can do this if we stand together."

Later chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci spoke about the vaccine rollout, saying the Biden administration was "amplifying" the programme that was already there.

If, as hoped, 70-85% of the population was vaccinated by the end of summer, there would be "a degree of normality" by autumn, he said.

Dr Fauci said his main concern was persuading people who were sceptical about the vaccine to take it.

He added that the administration was in talks with manufacturers to produce more vaccine, amid reports of supply problems. Some regional officials say they have run out of available vaccine.

About 16.5 million shots have been administered so far.

The chief medical adviser, who served under Mr Trump, also welcomed the new administration's emphasis on science.

"The idea that you can get up here and talk about what you know and what the evidence, what the science is... it is something of a liberating feeling," Dr Fauci said, whereas under Mr Trump, "you didn't feel that you could actually say something and there wouldn't be any repercussions".

What's in the plan?
Earlier the administration unveiled a seven-point plan which included efforts to facilitate effective distribution of vaccines and reliable access to testing.

The Trump administration had been criticised for a lack of strategy at the federal level.

International travellers will need to test negative before departing for the US and self-quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

If Biden was serious about rejoining the Iran deal and lifting tariffs on China, he would have at least announced it just like he has with the Paris accord.

Biden is nothing but a warmongering politican unlike his predecessor. He pushed for Iraq, now he will push the button.

Let me get this straight. You are holding up apartheid SA as an example of structural racism not existing? The most extreme example of white racist power structure on the planet?

An example of a nation where only whites had the vote, all the police were white, the judiciary was all white, and the government was all white. So the power structure was exclusively white even in that minority situation.

You know that people who look like you are five times more likely to be stopsearched than people who look like me. You know that British South Asian Muslims are massively disproportionately represented in British jails. There's the inequality. There's the structural racism.

But no one is saying this. Anyone can be capable of racism regardless of their race, but you are refusing to recognise context and nuance. Let me put it in language you can understand. If you were a Muslim who got married to a hindu lady, then got accused by a jealous neighbour of indulging in love jihad, how would you feel about fighting your case in front of a jury of 12 hindu males? Do you think you would get a fair trial?

When we talk about structural racism, this is what we mean. There are obviously advantages for a majority in most arenas. Should there be? Well, that is another question. Maybe we should open a separate topic to discuss that.

I get all that.

In simple terms: Trump is labelled as a racist, vote for Trump, vote for a racist, ergo voter is racist because voter agrees with racist Trump and his policies.

The same logic applies to fans of Trump.

This is the generalisation by the left.

Not at all. You seem to be making the point that BLM is tainted and unworthy because Mr Floyd had a criminal record. You are trying to delegitimise a just cause - ordinary people standing up to an oppressive state apparatus. You support the Palestinians but curiously not the African Americans.

They are not showing this on CNN or BBC but there has been huge violence by the same groups supporting BLM against Biden being in office.

ery difficult to hold sensible debate with you when you generalise to this silly degree.

A better one is why do you think American Nazis vote for Trump? What does he do for them?

Because he doesnt pander to liberal extremists such as Antifa? We need to be clear, only a small percentage of white americans hold such an ideology, a fringe element. More people of colour voted for Trump than members of far right or the KKK.

From the article above

“We don’t want Biden. We want revenge for police murders, imperialist wars, and fascist massacres,” read a banner they marched under.

Exactly. Plus more POC voted for Trump second time round.

Can you back these claims that more people of color voted for trump than far right or white nationalists?

Where are you getting this information from?

Can you back these claims that more people of color voted for trump than far right or white nationalists?

Where are you getting this information from?

Depends what you accept as the number of 'far right' who voted for Trump. What is your guess?

That’s my point, how can you claim more minorities voted for trump than white nationalists. Maybe a more appropriate question is what percentage of each demographic voted for trump? The numbers themselves don’t give you a good picture because total numbers can be skewed in favor of one subset than the other.

So it’s a logical fallacy in my opinion. Perhaps it’s better to look at it in the context of what percentage of a particular subset voted for A vs B. That’s a more objective approach, one that is used for statistical analysis done by professional researchers.

Just my two cents. You can believe what you want, to be honest.

Can you back these claims that more people of color voted for trump than far right or white nationalists?

Where are you getting this information from?

If had to guess;

1. Alex Jones

2. Paul Joseph Watson

3. Take your pick from a number of hacks

Hopefully, we will get some real evidence and then we can actual have a discussion.

LOL.
I want to give KingKhanWC and Technics 1210 benefit of the doubt and assume they dont use such idiotic people or sources for their info. I know KingKhanWC in the past has been fairly receptive to considering opposing views.

I have in the past posted several legit sources/instances to make the point that Trump, in fact, did have a very strong base within the white supremacists. Yes, I wont try to draw every single one of his supporters with a broad brush and claim they are all white supremacists, but for the sake of this discussion, I hope the other side of the table also recognizes this attempt and stop claiming everybody who opposes Trumpism is a part of the "Loony Left" as some here quite fondly use the term around here.

It is really a very quick and easy way to behave like an idiot if you do that. I am sure we all have very dear family members. some even our elders, who are liberals and its quite inappropriate to label them as loonies.

Just saying!

National Guard: President Biden apologises over troops sleeping in car park

President Joe Biden has apologised after some members of the National Guard stationed at the US Capitol were pictured sleeping in a car park.

More than 25,000 troops were deployed to Washington DC for his inauguration after violence earlier this month.

Images spread on Thursday showing them forced to rest in a nearby parking garage after lawmakers returned.

The conditions sparked anger among politicians, and some state governors recalled troops over the controversy.

Mr Biden called the chief of the National Guard Bureau on Friday to apologise and ask what could be done, according to US media reports.

First Lady Jill Biden also visited some of the troops to thank them personally, bringing biscuits from the White House as a gift.

"I just wanted to come today to say thank you to all of you for keeping me and my family safe," she said.

The photographs showing hundreds of troops in a parking garage went viral on Thursday and sparked outrage.

Many voiced concerns about the conditions, with guardsmen exposed to car fumes and without proper access to facilities like toilets after having been on alert for days.

There are conflicting reports about why the troops were moved from the Capitol, but several told US media that the order came on Thursday afternoon with no explanation.

Images of the cramped conditions have also sparked fears about the spread of coronavirus among the National Guard.

A US official, speaking anonymously to Reuters news agency, said Friday that between 100 and 200 of those deployed had tested positive for Covid-19. The figure - which would represent a small proportion of the more than 25,000 deployed, has not been publicly confirmed.

After images from the car park emerged, members of Congress voiced their outrage online and some offered their offices as a place to rest.

The decision was then reportedly reversed later on Thursday, when the troops were allowed to return to the Capitol.

Ron DeSantis, Florida's governor, was among those who said he had ordered guards from his state to return home following the controversy.

"This is a half-cocked mission at this point and the appropriate thing is to bring them home," he told Fox News on Friday.

Chuck Schumer, a Democrat and the new Senate majority leader, said that the move was "an outrage" and pledged it "will never happen again".

The Senate Rules Committee is also investigating the issue, Senator Roy Blunt told Politico.

A joint statement from the US National Guard and US Capitol Police on Friday said they had worked together to make sure those in the Capitol Complex had "appropriate spaces" to take on-duty breaks.

They also said off-duty troops were being housed in hotel rooms or other accommodation and thanked members of Congress for their concern.

Some 19,000 guardsmen will return to their home states in the coming days with about 7,000 expected to stay on in Washington, according to the New York Times.

They are not showing this on CNN or BBC but there has been huge violence by the same groups supporting BLM against Biden being in office.

What justice do they want now? Or do they just love trouble?

Because he doesnt pander to liberal extremists such as Antifa? We need to be clear, only a small percentage of white americans hold such an ideology, a fringe element. More people of colour voted for Trump than members of far right or the KKK.

Let us clarify terms.

“Liberal extremists” is an oxymoron. To be liberal means to assert the value of the individual and their human rights under law. Liberalism ended slavery, set up democratic institutions across the world, set up the rules based order for nations dealing with each other that prevents another World War.

Antifa is a catch-all term for an aggregate of American groups. Many are peaceful anti-corporation activists. Some are hard left or anarchist types who want a ruck.

Remember that Biden would occupy One Nation Tory ground with Heseltine, Major and Clarke if he were British.

Depends what you accept as the number of 'far right' who voted for Trump. What is your guess?

About 6% of the American population are part of the aggregated Tea Party / militia / Proud Boys / KKK axis. It’s safe to say that they are almost exclusively white and all vote Trump. Works out at about nine million of his 75 million supporters.

Whereas 18% of male blacks and 5% of female blacks voted Trump. As the black population is about 15% of total, that means four million black males and about one million black females voted Trump.

Therefore the number of overt white racists voting Trump outweighs the number of blacks voting Trump by about two to one.

^^ assumes about half of hardline white racists bother to vote, in line with the general population.

KKWC has amended his views in the past and even he sticks to his point a person can debate him reasonably and credit to him. Technics I'm afraid is a lost cause however. And if I had to guess his age it's probably a teenager. No adult can post like that whatsoever, if you look at Technics's post as a whole on the forum most of it is thinly veiled insults or tantrums. It reminds me of someone who'd post on another forum I'd go to exactly the same style, turns out they were 17. I go to football forums with majority western people and you have Trump supporters but I have never seen such an ardent Trump supporter like him who was our ethnicity. Reminds me of Abdul in the EDL

Also to add someone mentioned QaNon, I read up on it yesterday and I can't believe people believe that nonsense. Apparently this pedo ring in the US is being defended by Trump, someone who has dozens of allegations of sexual harrasment against him and who's openly bragged grabbing women by their genitals. It beggars belief :))
