Okay so many people would think this thread is ridiculous and amir is much better but i think Junaid is better,
Why?

Well we should first look at their averages=
Junaid has played 8 Matches and averages 26.70
Amir has played 14 Matches and averages 29.09

Okay so that shows that Junaid has a better average but averages are not everything so we'll go on further,
Junaid has played 1 match in Zimbabwe and 4 in U.A.E and 3 in Srilanka.

Amir has played 3 matches in Srilanka 3 in Newzealand 4 in Australia and 4 in England.

Junaid has played in more tougher pace bowling conditions than Mohammad Amir who has played in favorable conditions for pace bowling except for the three test matches in Srilanka.

Even though having the advantage of playing 11 Test matches in conditions that favour pace bowling, under the guiding of bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar,Umar gul and Mohammad Asif Amir still does not have a better Average.

Whereas Junaid has played in the hot weather in Srilanka and U.A.E on flat pitches playing with either Aizaz cheema or an out of form Gul, but yet he still manages a better average than Amir.

Other than that Junaid has picked up 14 wickets in Srilanka with an average of 21.7 in 3 Test matches.

Amir took 6 wickets at an average of 43.5 in 3 Test matches.

What do you think?

Amir began his career at the age of 17. He still isn't 21 I think.

If you go by stats then Junaid may have marginally better numbers but Amir was a class apart. Amir was a once in a generation bowler. The best fast bowling prospect to have come out since Wasim Akram.

Junaid way ahead on flat tracks...a passionate player and a fighter.

Amir was pathetic on flat pitches of srilanka and was only good in helpful conditions with asif on the other end helping him where as for junaid he has ordinary cheema :))

Amir more talented with the ball but was a gaddar fixer.

And stats are all you need to judge a bowler. Amir sucked in my opinion he is the worst bowler to have represented Pakistan in the last few decades.

would be interesting to see how Junaid bowls in Eng-NZ conditions..

Well saying that Amir was better needs something to be supported by and till now i haven't seen anything proving that.
The only advantage that Amir has is that he can swing the bowl in where as Junaid can not but hopefully very soon he will also be able to swing the ball in to the right handers.

Why not have them both? Why does it always have to be a comparison?

It's the age factor that pushes in Amir's favour.

Amir was incredibly young when he started his career. It's highly probable that by Junaid Khan's age, he would have improved.

I saw Junaid bowling in english county in some t20 tourney. He was almost unplayable.. I particularly remember 1 match where junaid even defended 5 runs for his team in the final over of a t20 match to win them the game when the opposition had many batsmen still left.. Amir definitely has much more pace at just 17 .. I'll say, considering all factors including age ,average ,wickets etc, junaid and amir are neck to neck..

I'd Like to see Amir perform in the situations in which Junaid performed under the immense heat and on the flat tracks i'd like to see Amir take 5-wicket hauls on those conditions and I'd also like to see Junaid khan perform in the good bowling conditions in which Amir performed.

why cant u guys just forget Amir for a while?

his great bowling isnt the first thing that comes to mind

Amir should be forgotten forever Junaid is better than him IMO and should continue even if his ban ends.

^^^^^Completely agree. However, don't want to see Amir in green shirt ever again.

Who knows what would have happend to Amir.
Even Sami had a good start to his career

Right now I'd take Junaid.

Look ahmed, if you're comparing them as just bowlers, you don't need stats to see how superior Amir was to Junaid.

That being said, I'm 100% sure Junaid can play on for pakistan and there is absolutely no reason that he can't improve or become even better! So what if he can't bowl with the pace of Amir? He can swing the ball and he's a tough honest fighter.

And yes, he didn't sell his country for money! Even though Amir was better, I'll pick Junaid over him ANYDAY

Now this threads going too far, Junaid is a great bowler but you just need to see some videos and then compare them to Junaid??

Stats dont say anything, if you have seen them both bowling only a blind person will say Junaid.

According to our selectors, he is number 5 bowler in Pakistan. Gul, Tanvir, Sami, and Yasir were selected ahead of him.

Just 3 monhs ago he was being advertised as new Amir. Go figure. Did it cost us the T20WC?

When Amir comes back in 2015 not just the Pakistani fans but the whole world will be standing up for him!

Well i can surely go watch some videos but surely videos don't tell everything and a blind person won't say that Junaid is better, Stats aren't everything you are right but those deliveries that Amir bowled were they in the flat tracks of the U.A.E or Srilanka?
Were they against a Batsmen averaging more than 150+ in the same series?

How possible could Junaid swing it as much as Amir when he was bowling in Srilanka and Amir was bowling in England, Australia and Newzealand.

players like junaid khan come and go every couple of years.

amir is once in a decade type of player.

Did Amir perform in Srilanka and the U.A.E?
Did he take wickets of players in the form of their life?
No he didn't he had excellent support from asif and gul and was supported a lot by the bowling conditions in Newzealand,Australia and England.

2-3 Good bowls don't make you a talent that comes in a decade and considering that he had so much help from the conditions to bowl those kinds of deliveries.

i think wasim and rest of the legend who have commented on amir's great talent know more than me and you..

Go see Junaid's bowling in the english county when he played for Lancashire,
Wasim commenting him as a great bowler is justified because Amir surely was but he still wasn't tested on flat tracks except for the time he played 3 Test in Srilanka where he took 6 wickets and averaged 43.5.

Junaid's pace has dropped of quite a bit since his back injury.. When he first started he was around 140-145kph bowler.. now he bowls in the 125-135kph range..

He is better than Amir.. The fixer had more glamour about him nothing else..

Amir made the ball do more.

Didn't always translate into wickets unfortunately.

Talk about over-rating someone. :yk Anyways at the end of the day he is not a bowler but a fixer ;)

Amir is gifted and talented, junaid is HARDWORKING, I THINK JUNAID IS MUCH BETTER

Amir had the "no balls" problem. He needs to learn to keep his feet on the ground first.

Junaid, on the other hand, is very down to earth and intelligent bowler who will improve with time.

Amir was class apart but Junaid is more than a decent bowler, he is best available to us now so PCB should invest in him and make him the next big star.

Yes he is very Hardworking and will improve in the near Future.

Junaid is being under rated here.. Please watch his videos of bowling in english county.. The swing, pace and bounce he got would give complex to the best of bowlers.

amir was a natural and would have been the better bowler, junaid is the better worker, and personally i think he is just as smart, just doesn't have the same quality skills as amir had at this stage, nor will he ever be as fast

Especially when you do not have any experience of playing under pressure.

bowling to mitchel johnson in England and sangakara in Sri Lanka(was in form of his life) is quite a difference.

Your acting as if you just go to England and the ball naturally swings and you don't have to do much as a bowler. The bowler still has to make it swing.

Both are excellent excellent bowlers and it would have been great if both were available for Pakistan. I hope Amir comes back as the Amir/Junaid partnership would be lethal.

There's also Wahab Riaz who is a special bowler.

can junaid bring the ball into the right hander?

Till yet i haven't quite seen him do that but i do expect him to learn it as it is the main weapon of a Left Handed fast bowler.

Today almost won the game for WAPDA against Sui Gas

Yes good bowling from Junaid taking 4 wickets after having a bad first innings looking forward to his next match on tuesday.
Even bowled Azhar Ali now we all know how hard that is.

Azhar Ali since joining the Pakistan team has surprisingly been very poor in domestic cricket. I don't know if any one else has noticed that?

Yes he has a surprising average of only 37.50 which is very less compared to his average of 45 in Tests.

junaid khan is better

hardworking, honesty and determined should be greater qualities than talented and dishonesty lol

the stats speak for themselves. one thing amir had over junaid was speed and that is why people will say he is better

Both are talented, but Amir was a whole another level. The best fast bowling talent that I have ever seen. Junaid can not swing the ball as much as Amir did. Junaid can not swing it both ways either. Amir could swing it both ways, at more pace.

I hope Junaid regains his lost pace.. Don't know who coached him to lessen his pace to the mid 130s.. used to be a 145kph type bowler..

Guys stop dreaming about Amir, even if his ban finished tomorrow he would need atleast 1 or 2 seasons in domestic to get over his rustiness and regain international match fitness..

^I admit I am a culprit when it comes to dreaming about Amir. But knowing how good he wsa, and how quickly he learned, one or two seasons will be enough for him to replace any pace bowler in the side. He was just that good

Junaid's bowling in the 2nd Test Match against Srilanka in Srilnaka showed he can swing the bowl a lot on par or maybe more than Amir.
He can't swing the bowl into the right hander yet but he doesn't have Wasim Akram to teach him how to swing it in.
He is working on his own now with Waqar gone and he will take time but he will surely learn to swing it in.
Even now i would rate him better than Amir seeing how his performances have come in tough bowling conditions, conditions where Amir averaged 43.5.

The only issue I have with Junaid is that his normal pace is about 82mph. He can crack it up a bit but until and unless you are McGrath or Asif and have their height you cant continue bowling at that pace.
We did not see enough of Amir.

I may have missed it but can you tell in which match he did?
I saw him bring it back into the right handers with the new ball in the Sl test series.. Dont think he picked a wicket with the inswinger though.

Both are superb bowlers with Junaid having the grit and heart to perform on dead tracks while Amir having more pace and variety.

Amir, Junaid, Talha and Raza would be a great bowling attack.

fantastic.cant beileve this guy wasnt picked for T20s:facepalm:

That's the problem. We were playing with 5 to 6 players who should never have been in the squad. Junaid is a very talented bowler. And we get sami and sohail tanvir

You know what, the whole of current T20 Pakistan team should retire except from Jamshed! :amir

This is not even a contest, Amir all the way. Junaid is a decent bowler but Amir was doing things at 18 that Junaid still hasn't shown even at age 21 or 22. The England tour was where Amir came into his own. People forget that he was only 17 when he debuted.

With that said, I'd love to have both Amir & Junaid in the team all day every day! Junaid has shown promise in the recent SL tour and he may have finally found his groove at international level. But he needs to improve his fielding & fitness as he's very lazy on the field.

The biggest game changing skill Amir had was that he could vary his pace at will. He was purposefully bowling in the low 80s in the English summer as he mentioned in an interview. He had bowled quite a few 150 kmph deliveries as well. It was also the England tour where Amir finally nailed the missing link in his bowling which was to bring the ball back into the right handed batsmen.

A pace attack comprising of Asif, Amir, and Junaid would be downright scary!

FFS Amir played those 3 tests in SL when he was what, 17 !!!!!!!!!!

Junaid has come into the team with far more FC experience then Amir, so he's bound to be doing better from the onset on flat wickets because he's used to bowling in these conditions!

Later that year in December 2009 on the flattest of tracks I've ever seen in Melbourne, he took a 5-fer against the mighty Aussie batting line up !!! He was troubling Watson to Ponting to Clarke to Hussey. If that doesn't show you his capability then I don't know what could!

Amir is more talented but Junaid can make up for it by working hard on his game. It would be great for Pakistan cricket if both are bowling side by side in 2015 & beyond!

Amir also learned to play on the same pitches it's not like he was born in England and started his career there or Amir had special training camps in England while the other team practiced in Pakistan.

Junaid played for Abbotabad a team which relied on him in the pace department.
Junaid made a Test Debut and immediately was under pressure to perfrom as he didn't have bowlers like Mohammad Asif or An in form Gul to support him he bowled with an out of form Gul and Aizaz Cheema yet he still performed.

Amir was 17 when he played those Tests he had already played the T20i World Cup he had also been helped alot by Wasim Akram and lastly he didn't have the responsibility to perform as much as Junaid did.

There are more factors you have to consider except age.

Amir was 'Emereging Wasim' who could Bowl superbly and have a handy Batting Ability..!!!! He Did that well when our bowling attack had a competition among Asif, Gul and sometimes Akthar..!!

Junaid was awesome.. But his bowling competition were among 'OUT OF FORM GUL', Cheema, Tanvir...Etc... So he had a slight advantage

Anyway Junaid Is Nowhere near AMir..!!

ok if junaid did well because "he is used to bowling in these conditions" what do u say about the experianced gul who took just 1 wicket in those 3 tests against sl?
Dont forget the fact that junaid has no inspiration in the team, no one to guide him while amir had asif, shoaib and even an in form gul who made him the bowler he was.

Took another fiver against strong batting of Habib bank.

One man army of WAPDA..........almost won the last game for them as well.

He is the future and amir is the past

Both as good as each other in my opinion. Amir brilliant in swinging conditions, Junaid more of a toiler. Would be a great combination.

Junaid khan and Ehsan Adil will fill void left by Amir and Asif
Ehsan adil is Asif type of bowler his height is 6 Foot 4 inch can swing bowl both way
in terms of 8 test matches J.Khan have better average compare to Junaid khan has proved himself in flat pitches where Amir record in SL was 3 mathes 6 inning 8 wickets

Junaid khan against NBP in 2nd inning
9 overs given 29 runs taken 3 wickets
Junaid khan has bowled Fawad alam on duck LBW kamran akmal on Duck LBW sami aslam

Junaid has done really well against Sri Lanka on dead pitches. I'd love to see how he does against other teams. With good bowling conditions in SA, I think he should be quite successful there

i want everyone to hear this quote

genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration

junaid works hard he said he watched you tube videos of imran and wasim and then used it on srilanka and what he does he takes fivers and troubles jayawardene and sangakkara who were picking everybody. this is talent he is a fast learner a hard worker and bcz of this i doubt he will ever make the mistake like that amir kid. amir was all talent but i would take junaid all the way who knows in a year or so junaid might develop himself into a bowlers much better then amir give him time he is a hard worker and the difference between hard workers and talented are that talent has limitations again the saying

After 12 Test matches:

Junaid Khan: 42 Wickets at 26.69
Wasim Akram: 40 Wickets at 25.50
Mohammad Aamir: 39 Wickets at 33.30

After 12 Test matches:

Junaid Khan: 42 Wickets at 26.69
Wasim Akram: 40 Wickets at 25.50
Mohammad Aamir: 39 Wickets at 33.30

awesome stuff by Junaid in this match..getting Kallis/Duminy with those big reverse swinging deliveries was such a great sight..:)

he's getting better and better each day.

Amir might be more talented, but junaid is a very intelligent and skilled bowler; his use of angles, round the wicket bowling, reverse swing, low fast bouncer all very skillful.
