last over before Lunch - why not surround him with fielders?

Sarfaraz asleep at the wheel am afraid.

He needs to speak with misbah and take in some advice from our most successful test captain.

Sarfaraz is not really a deep thinker of the game

Sarfaraz is not really a deep thinker of the game

Dunno this seems like captaincy 101 - attacking spinner, trump card or else why is he playing etc

Never seen any inspiring moves from Sarfaraz in Tests .

Whenever we have our backs against the wall Sarfraz just sits back and waits for the opposition to make a mistake. Never have I seen him be creative or look to put pressure on batsman once the going gets tough.

KP pleading on TV but Sarfaraz not budging

PSL was supposed to help our players learn from top players - KP & Sarfaraz were together but seems no real knowledge transfer

Conventional?! Surprising considering he's a very good limited overs captain. He isn't conventional but rather he is defensive and that's the problem.

Asad Shafiq bowling - no close in fielders, what is the purpose of that? free runs for South Africa,

Pathetic captaincy:
for not taking any initiative,
for not pumping up your team,
for not taking the new ball,
for giving away easy runs to SAF during the period of over 77-83 (current over)
For giving Shafiq a chance to stay in the team by becoming a bowler instead of taking a new ball

#GoSarfarazGo

Isn't that an area where Mickey Arthur could help Sarfaraz? What exactly is Mickey doing is the question. No one expects coach to be responsible for how you bat or bowl while on the field, that's players responsibility and awareness. But tactics is something where a coach could certainly intervene.

once on the field - not many coaches will get in the way of the captain

Also now Sarfaraz not having enough slips for new batsman - poor from him

Sarfraz is sleeping....he should be sacked for this poor display.

Babar/Azhar/Rizwan one of them should lead us in the 3rd Test.

This is most likely last series for sarfu as test captain. It has to be. We need complete overhaul. It should have happened after nz series but we don’t do anything until we buried and dead

Hahahaha

what even if the wicket is taken? His major worry is his batsmen or top 5 can't bat for 30 overs.

Too much blame directed at one individual!

It's a team game, Perhaps other seniors should come up to him and suggest bringing fielders closer.

All options are better than this mediocre player.

Forget mediocre even a Grade 2 Karachi batsmen have better basic technique than the joke options you listed.

Just think about the names you've put. This could only extract laughter or some diversionary tactic to take blame away from pathetic Selectors who have destroyed this team.

Nobody like Sarfraz but do selectors, batting coach deserve to stay?

Why not change captain, the senior leeches and the selectors?

Why not counter the whole mafia that is blocking promising domestic performers from the team?

The selectors will pick the same team again in the odi series than what?

First give some realistic solutions, Azhar deserves to be kicked out alongwith Shafiq. Rizwan averaged 14 against NZ A in UAE month back. Another TTF in the making.

Sarfraz should announce his retirement from test cricket; its not his cup of tea

Captains should get the first kick. Coach and selector should get the same treatment if we lose the ODI series as well. If Rizwan doesn't perform then he will be kicked out too.

Lol, the good thing about Aussies and South Africans is that they don't mince words, they call a spade a spade and don't believe in respecting emotions. The Pakistani players have got a shocking flavor of that from Mickey Arthur. It is what made the Mickey Arthur and Graeme Smith partnership so successful. ABD was always a gifted player but kept giving his wicket away after getting to 50 and did the same again in England in 2008 and finally both Graeme Smith and Arthur lost it and gave him a piece of their mind and told him that he now needs to start delivering on the talent, repaying the faith the selectors and team management had shown in him all this while and since then ABD went to the next level.

KP, does not mince his words either which is why he was unpopular in the English dressing room, he was Sarfaraz's team mate in the QG team in the PSL and Sarfaraz did his usual antics where he was shouting and barking at a fielder and turned a blind eye to a run out opportunity and KP was the only person who shouted at Sarfaraz for that mistake. KP is just calling a spade again, put a gun to his head and he will still not call trash gold.

Hence why Misbah was humiliated by the Channel 9 team during the side's last tour of Aus because of his awful captaincy.

This also happened in England during the ODI series, when Sky's comm box called the Pakistan side "a bunch of timid kittens".

Don't need cheerleaders and diplomatic commentators who are there to please both sets of fans.

How long before Rizwan is kicked out which will be soon in this country. How many would be left?
I can assure you inzamam will select Sarfraz and the rest again for the next.
Situation is actually much worse you need to replace 7 players who can play just 2 shots, cut and pull thats it. This is the current state right now. They can't play basic shots. This not only demoralizes the bowling but the whole setup. Even domestic players won't work on their technique knowing if such trash is in the national side due to connections why should I work on my game?

I'm for structural changes and complete overhaul anything short of it is only disaster, we'll go lower than where we are and then people will miss Sarfraz era and call it a bad decision. It is happening in repeat mode since 2003. First change the hanky panky in the board

Not like KP was the best captain England never had. KP was exactly what he says Sarfaraz should be, thinking out of the box. But the sad reality is that he was a poor captain still

Lol when Shyk commented after the Aus tour whitewash in 2017 that Misbah was such an iconic player, the PCB would let Misbah decide when to retire from international cricket, Ian Chappell commented that was the most absurd and ridiculous comment he had ever heard and that it is not up to Misbah, it is up to the selection committee when to move a player on and if he had his way, he would have sent Misbah packing at the first available opportunity

Pak cricket is full of bias and corruption at the moment. No team can become a top team if there is no merit in the system.

You can get into this team if you have good connections or some lobby.:yahya

I have a strong feeling that Sarfraz will retire from Tests.
Thinking outside the box - Well the reality is that the current crop of Pakistani players are not good students of the game and sadly no one takes Test Cricket seriously!

Am not sure about retirement, but stepping down as captain and just focusing on his game as a player will do him a world of good.

After couple of years in Sarfraz’s shed at QG, KP is now sprouting venom against the best captain of PAK since Khan. When experts like Nasser, Vaughan ... has credited Sarfraz for literally hand picking PAK’s Cup at CT, this guy KP is settling score here. He must have been taught few tricks at QG, which his vaunted ego didn’t accept, but couldn’t response that time against a captain instrumental of winning 29 T20I out of 35; now that the legend is down on mat, people like KP has their chance.

The next coming of IK can never be criticised, remember he does not need to perform to be in the team!

Lol this is someone who worked with him for 3years is basically telling you he has no tactics. And some people had the nerve to call him best captain since IK . :)))

Remember during champions trophy the first match Agaisnt India which they beat us, Sarfraz before the match said he had a bag of tricks and will think outside the box.....we all remember how that turned out lol

Disagree with KP. Sarfaraz is anything but a conventional captain.

I mean if he was conventional, we wouldnt have done so bad. Need a captain who uses a bit of common sense, thats all.

As a lot of people have spoken about (Warne, Nasser, Vaughan, Khan and many others), if you have a leg spinner, you MUST show him "love" and put faith that he is there as an attacking option. How can Yasir pick up wickets if there aren't enough close fielders or players in catching positions. A leg spinner is not there to stem the runs but to pick wickets.

One of the reasons Rashid has been so useful England in ODIs is because Morgan understands this perfectly and Root, in tests, is just starting to understand it. Sarfraz hast o get this into his thick skull or Shah is going to be wasted outside of Asia, where the batsmen provide zero scoreboard pressure.
