My conscience is clear, and as a doctor, I greatly value human life. However, Pakistani politics is a dirty game. You have to make tough choices and comprise on some fronts.

Asking me to choose a political party is like asking me how I would prefer to die. They all have skeletons in the closet and they are all puppets to the military establishment.

No matter how dirty the game gets, allowing the murder of children to go unpunished for political reasons, would make s person unfit to hold any kind of office. And as for those who then make excuses for such behaviour....

And you're a little beyond choosing a political party, an uneducated guess, merely based on a few posts today, would say you've fallen for cult of personality where someone who at best has taken a soft stance against child murder, and at worst has allegedly been seen to facilitate it, would be an acceptable face of the political party you choose to support, with a clear conscience no less.

So bro disagree, this situation arose because the abuse in 2014 wasnt dealt with and who was in power then and today is very important. Politics is involved as the Punjab Police are political appointees to protect corrupt rich people.
 
There should be accountability and heads should roll for this type of incident. How can a monster like that kill 8 kids and get away with it.

Who will protect children in Punjab?

LAHORE - At least six girls, as young as seven-year-old, have been murdered after being raped in Kasur district of the Punjab province during the last couple of months.

The latest killing reported by police in the same district last week has sent shocking waves among the local population. Many people took to streets following the discovery of body of another child on Saturday. The police were investigating the murders with no arrest made yet.

Even extrajudicial killings have failed to stop such horrific crime. The district Kasur police killed a few suspects in staged encounters in the recent past. Reportedly, some officers claimed that the alleged criminals killed in police action in the same area had raped and killed children in separate incidents.

According to police, a teenage and a minor girl were found dead in different incidents in district Kasur on Saturday evening. The teen was found dead in the fields in the Sarai Mughal police precincts. Some passersby spotted her body and alerted the police by phone. The police reached the spot and shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy. Police were working to ascertain the identity of the victim.

In another incident, a 10-year-old girl was found dead in a deserted house on Khara Road on the same day. The A-Division police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to a hospital. Some locals contacted the police as they saw the dead body in the deserted house.

District police officer Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi along with heavy contingents of police reached the spot and shifted the body to THQ Hospital for a post-mortem. The girl was later identified as Laiba. She was on the way to a religious school (Madrassa) to read Quran but did not reach there. Special teams have been constituted to unearth and arrest the rapists-cum-killers.

All the young victims were targeted and killed in a similar style. The police have identified the bodies but failed to identify the criminals. The incidents of raping and killing of children have surfaced in the same district, almost two years after the country’s biggest child abuse scandal in Kasur made headlines across the globe.

The child abuse scandal had surfaced in Hussain Khanwala village of Kasur district. A racket of sexual predators was busted while hundreds of video clips along with photographs were recovered from the possession of the gang and they confessed their crime during investigations. An estimated 250 to 300 children , mostly boys, were the victims. The gang comprised of twenty-five men and they were continuously committing this heinous crime since 2005.

Many children are molested across the Punjab province every year. Also dozens of rape victims are killed by criminals.

Last month, a youngster allegedly killed a six years old girl after raping her at his home in Lahore’s Harbanspura police precincts. The mother had asked Zainab (the victims) to bring ice from a neighbour’s house. Zainab went to her neighbour’s house but did not return. After some time, her family started searching her but to no avail. The next day the family started the search again and focused the house where she was asked to visit.

During the search, Omar, the owner of the house, tried to flee. Locals managed to capture the accused and later he was handed over to the police. The accused was then shot dead in police action.

In April, a seven-year-old girl was brutally raped and murdered in Kasur district. According to police, the girl had left her house in the evening to buy milk but never returned home. Later that night, her body was found in a park near her house in the Saddar area.

Also, a minor girl aged seven was reportedly kidnapped and raped before being strangled to death on in Kasur district in February. Her body was recovered from an abandoned house near her residence and was shifted to the district hospital for medico-legal investigation which indicated strangulation as the cause of death. Locals and relatives of victim blocked Lahore-Kasur road and staged a strong protest demonstration against the killing.

There is no let-up in the incidents of child abuse in the “most developed” province. The rapists are killing the minor victims fearlessly but the police have failed to unearth the killers. Factually, police investigators are groping in the dark since several children have been molested and murdered by unknown criminals.

The incidents of child abuse, abductions, and even murders, have triggered fear and panic across the province. Residents say they believe some gangs are involved in the child abduction cases but the police investigators have failed to unearth the gangsters involved in this horrific crime.

A couple of years ago, the provincial police department had activated the specialised homicide investigation cell to investigate murder cases in Punjab , where more than 6,000 people were murdered in 2014. Hundreds of investigation officers were trained by forensic experts in collecting evidences, preservation of the crime scene and completion of legal proceedings.

According to the planned working of the homicide cell, every murder investigation shall be conducted in a scientific manner by employing every available technology with optimal utilisation of available resources.

Again, these “homicide cells” are unable to trace the criminals involved in raping and killing the children like the blind murder cases. Why police investigators have failed to trace the merciless killers and child rapists? Who will provide justice to the victim families and who will take initiatives to protect children in this province?

On the other hand, the police are interested in cases related to cash, property, and personal disputes. If children are being raped, abused, or murdered, that’s because of the “negligence on part of their parents”.

The recent incidents of child rape and murder should be an eye-opener for the provincial government. The police must do something to protect children who are most vulnerable to abduction, rape, and violence in this province.

12th incident in one year: Eight-year-old’s killing sparks protest in Kasur

KASUR: The recovery of the body of an eight-year-old missing girl on Tuesday – a few days after she was allegedly raped and killed – cast a pall of gloom in the city.

In the last one year, this is the 12th incident of this nature in a Kasur area (within a radius of two kilometres), where people are appalled at police inaction.

Zainab, 8, went to a tuition centre near her house in Road Kot area on Thursday last when someone abducted her. The parents of Zainab had gone to perform Umrah and, according to the family, were scheduled to return that very day.

The panicked family got a footage showing Zainab going with a stranger near Peerowala Road in the Saddar police jurisdiction. The video went viral on social media but no clue could be found.

On Tuesday, a police constable deputed to trace the girl recovered her body from a heap of trash near Shahbaz Khan Road. Police said the girl seemed to have been killed four or five days ago.

Police sent the body to the District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. A number of people gathered in the hospital, where police reluctantly handed over the body to the family because of apprehension of protest.

As the word got round, the traders shuttered their shops and staged a protest demonstration. Scores of other people also gathered at Steel Bagh Mor near the hospital and protested by keeping the body (in a pickup) in the middle of the road. They threw traffic out of gear by burning tyres on Ferozepur Road and chanted slogans against police and local parliamentarians for their alleged apathy.

Coincidentally an event being organised by the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau to think through the issue of child abduction and killing cases had to be cut short when the news about the incident spread.

The District Bar Association (DBA) announced boycott of court proceedings on Wednesday (today) to express solidarity with the bereaved family and build pressure on the law-enforcement agencies to arrest the killer.

ISLAMABAD/KASUR: The grieving mother of seven-year-old Zainab, whose horrific rape and murder has shocked the country, says she just wants justice and “knows nothing else”.

She said this hours before her daughter was laid to rest in Kasur on Wednesday.

Zainab’s body was discovered in a garbage pile on Tuesday, five days after she was kidnapped. The initial post-mortem report revealed that she had been raped multiple times and strangled to death.

Speaking to reporters outside the airport, Zainab's father alleged that the police did not cooperate in finding his daughter. "If the police would have acted immediately, the culprit would have been caught."

The father also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the incident and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa to provide justice.

While speaking to reporters upon arrival at the Lahore airport later, the father of the murdered girl thanked Tahir-ul-Qadri for taking out time for leading funeral prayers for his child.

He said that the police and NADRA should employ their resources to identify the suspect. However, he lamented, that the authorities have completely failed in identifying the murderer so far.

The father further demanded that the perpetrator be "publicly punished".

The army chief condemned the mother of Zainab and responded to the appeal by aggrieved parents, directing immediate all-out support to civil administration to arrest the criminals and bring them to justice.

Speaking to Geo News, Zainab's sister said they would continue to fight till they receive justice. "What has happened to Zainab should not happen to anyone else."

Her brother said the chief minister had taken notice, however, this was his normal routine. "We want justice from the chief minister. Police did not cooperate with us. The DPO had a non-serious attitude," he said.

The alleged rape and murder of Zainab has led to protests taking place in various areas of Kasur. Protesters broke into the DC office and pelted police with stones. In retaliation, police opened straight fire on the protesters, resulting in two deaths.

I want the culprits involved in this heinous crime behind bars. Those failing in their duties will be proceeded against. Very painful incident!" the chief minister tweeted following a meeting on the Kasur incident which was also attended by police officials

Helicopter parenting cannot be applied all the time. If the society requires helicopter parenting, then why not blame the society for it first.

Here is thread with trail of rape used as a tool to imply a show of political force/power used by all political parties. From PTI,PPP,MQM to PMLN.... These people know that these kind of social issues grab traction in the media but people forget about them eventually and move on with their lives, these shameless people should be shown the door on these statements. Its clear a brass of PMLN is trying to face save, and probably trying to escape accountability on an issue that is being brushed under the carpet from time to time.
 
If the Police had done their job in 2014 then some of the abuse might have been prevented but they didn't. So all the Nooras that keep saying its not time to politicize the issue, why wasnt something done in 2014. In any self respecting country both CM and Law Minister would have died of embarrassment after their failure to deal with the issue in 2014.

Saw Zara Hat Kay about two months back, they said nothing is being done about the Kasur scandal, no one in the media picked it up, all the perpertrators were left free on bail. None of them faced any charges, probably some highly influential people are involved in this.

All this happened under the eyes of Shehbaz Sharif... shameful
 
After that you think this will stop the abusers/rapers. This matter will die down in a few days and we will carry on with our lives.. and then these things will keep happening agian and again

Name and shame. The life of child is worth a billion times more than any politician from any party. If PTI members are involved then they should named, shamed and then hanged. But you cant get away from the role of the Punjab police, and the Punjab police are not there to protect the public.

I’m not one that gets emotional about politics but when these politicians use this of all things for their own personal agendas I feel like physically kicking their faces in.

Forgive my ignorance but I really do not understand why is there is a protest going along with burning property etc. What is it against. If they had caught the criminal already and were being soft with him, I would understand. If surrounding community had helped him, I would understand.

But if he is still out and police is looking for him, how is damaging the city helping anything ? The people who got killed today were in support for justice which just worsens this tragedy.

The authorities are complicit in this. Not enough action has been taken despite these type of horrific acts being carried out repeatedly.

Truly sickening, I hope these people are killed slowly and made an example of, this is one kind of crime that would drive me to the depths of sadistic revenge in my own mind.

On another note hopefully this creates a dialogue in Pakistan, child rape is so prevalent yet it is rarely ever discussed in the community, I felt this from first hand expererience because I lived in a neighbourhood for 3 months where atleast 5 young boys I knew had been molested/raped by either older boys or older men.

Not trying to politicize the tragedy but Kasur has five National Assembly seats and all are held by the PML-N. The lawmakers live like kings with little regard for human life and rule of law. Kasur Police needs to get clearance from them to conduct raids or arrest/release suspects.
 
‘Serial killer’ behind eight cases surfacing since 2015

LAHORE: The investigations into the rape-cum-murder case of eight-year-old girl that surfaced in Kasur indicated that a serial killer was behind all the eight cases reported in the district since 2015.

The Kasur district police had been looking for the culprit with no significant development so far.

The first case was reported in 2015 in which the suspect was spotted by a local when he was going to assault a minor girl in an under-construction house, a senior police officer told Dawn on Wednesday.

However, he said, the suspect manged to flee the scene, while the man who rescued the girl was later engaged by the police to trace the suspect. With his help, the police had prepared a rudimentary sketch of the suspect making it part of the record, he added.

The police official said that later more incidents of abduction of children, including five girls, occurred in Kasur district.

All the cases were reported in the jurisdiction of three police stations – A Division, B Division and Sadar.

Three out of the eight cases, including the latest one, occurred recently.

He said a team of senior police officers had last year made an effort to conduct a detailed analysis of all the cases in the light of circumstantial evidences, DNA test reports, statements of the two girls who survived the assaults, the witnesses and other relevant information.

The efforts were prompted in July 2017 by surfacing of another case of a child’s murder after sexual abuse.

The officers had reached the conclusion that a single person was behind all the cases surfacing in the district.

The view got further strengthened when the investigators found close resemblance between the man in the CCTV footage of Zainab and the culprit’s sketch in the police record.

“We had started hunt for the serial killer shortly after the first case in 2015”, the police official said.

“We had got reports of five DNA samples sent to the lab for analysis and the reports showed they belonged to the same person”, the police official said.

I didn't comment on this a lot because last thing we need to do is use such incident for politics.

Let's forget for a second what party this goon Sanaullah belongs to but he is the LAW minister of Punjab and yes no law minister in the world can protect 100% of crimes but just to highlight his reaction to some incidents:

1) Sons of ruling party PMLN's MNA raped a girl (medical examination confirmed she was gang raped), she couldn't even file an FIR initially until was was highlighted by media and after so many weeks she was forced to drop the case under pressure. This is the case for which LAW minister Rana Sanaullah said "Girl was friends with these boys and these type of girls often do these type of things".

2) PMLN own worker Samia Chauhdry was mysteriously killed in Lahore Chamba house booked by a PMLN leader. Rana Sanaullah attacked woman's character again and said she died of drug overdose and no report was made public.

3) Police attacked and killed dozen PAT workers inside their homes using "illegal barriers" as an excuse. Sanaullah blamed the victims again saying PAT workers fired at police first even though none of the policemen died or hit by bullets.

4) In Kasur back in 2015 when biggest child abuse scandal was broke in Pakistan's history, Sanaullah said it was just a dispute between 2 parties even though hundreds of videos were available and watched by whole media.

A postmortem examination conducted on 6-year-old Zainab, whose body was recovered from a trash heap in Kasur days after she went missing, suggests she may have been raped before she was strangled to death.

District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Medico Legal Officer (MLO) Dr Quratulain Attique told Dawn.com that the examination revealed the minor girl had died of strangulation.

There were visible marks of torture on the child's face, congestion in her muscles, and her tongue was badly bruised and injured as it was pressed between her teeth. She added that the hyoid bone was fractured, indicating strangulation.

Dr Attique said the postmortem examination was performed the same day Zainab's body was recovered ─ on Tuesday ─ and an initial examination suggested she may have been dead for two to three days.

Zainab went missing on Jan 4, which means she may have been held captive by her abductors for two to four days before she was killed.

Although the MLO did not explicitly confirm that the minor was raped, findings in the autopsy suggest that she may have been sexually assaulted.

The minor's hymen was ruptured, and there was also evidence to suggest the child had been sodomised. There was mud, fecal matter and blood found on her body, the MLO confirmed, and samples of semen, vaginal fluid and blood were collected from her body.

The samples have been sent to a lab in Lahore for testing, Dr Attique said, adding that the process of testing can take up to three months.

Dr Attique said that this is the fourth such case she has seen in the seven months she has been at DHQ Kasur. Of the four cases, only one child survived the ordeal. The findings in all cases were identical to those in Zainab's case.

Zainab, 6, had gone to a religious tuition centre near her house in the Road Kot area last Thursday (Jan 4) from where she is believed to have been abducted. Her parents had been in Saudi Arabia performing Umrah, according to her family, and she had been living with a maternal aunt. Her parents returned to the country on Wednesday.

Soon after her abduction, her panicked family had received footage showing her walking with a stranger near Peerowala Road.

On Tuesday, a police constable deputed to trace the girl recovered her body from a heap of trash near the Shahbaz Khan Road.

Police said the girl seemed to have been killed four or five days earlier.

A first information report had been registered against the disappearance of the girl on Jan 5, with the victim's paternal uncle as the complainant in the case. Murder charges were added to the FIR on Jan 9, after the victim's body was recovered.

Riots erupted in Kasur on Wednesday as residents agitated against perceived police inaction over the rape and murder of a 7-year-old resident of the city.

This is unbearable. I dont know if i can sleep at night now. My eyes are teary after reading this. I cant believe what i just read. No human can be capable of this. Hunt these filthy swines and slaughter them. Dont even bury them later.

Words cannot describe how horrific it must have been for the poor child.She suffered what no one should ever have to suffer.Same goes for the other little kids who suffered the same fate.

I hope the culprits,when caught,are tortured.They deserve worse than death.

Really heartbreaking picture of such a young girl being brutally abused and dumped away from like some rubbish.

The Pakistani police can be incredibly incompetent and this is an example of it - especially when so many other unsolved murders have occurred in the same city.

Just hope this scumbag is caught as quick as possible and made an example of.

You could be right. It's unusual for Pakistanis to riot over anything unless it's a supposed slur on their religion, definitely something isn't right here for it to have caused this sort of reaction. It's an absolute disgrace that the public have had to resort to this because the govt has not been able to reassure them as to their own efforts.

They're making her cousin a scapegoat, the culprit has some connection with the ruling party. It's convenient to blame her cousin since ahe wqs staying at their place.
 
I truly hope that there is at least some justice for this little girl. It will be extremely sad if this case is forgotten like many other cases in Pakistan.

After Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar took suo motu notice of the brutal murder of six-year-old Zainab in Kasur, Inspector General Punjab Arif Nawaz Khan submitted a report to the Supreme Court on Thursday saying that 272 suspects have been questioned about the incident.

The report said that geo-fencing data from the area was acquired and all resources are being employed to catch the culprit. It also said a house-to-house search was being conducted based on the information provided by the last witness of the crime.

It said that a case had separately been registered regarding the incident of firing on people protesting Zainab's murder. Sections 302 and 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which deal with wilful murder and wiping out evidence, have been included in the first information report (FIR) of the incident, the report said.

A post-mortem examination of the victim, who went missing on Jan 4 and was found dead in a trash heap by police on Jan 9, suggested she was raped and strangled to death. DNA samples collected from her body have been sent to a lab in Lahore for forensic testing ─ a process that can take up to three months.

The DNA sample collected from Zainabs body was the same DNA that was collected from the bodies of the other victims.So I highly doubt it is the cousin.

Will it (the public anger) have any lasting effects do you think or will things just fizzle out and go back to normal? When we saw the 2012 Delhi gang rape case 1000s took to the streets in India yet here we are 5 years on and very little of substance actually changed. It's like the filthy culture of bacha bazi in Afghanistan which has grown more rampant since 2001 and there's absolutely no will at all to change it.

Sadly nothing more can be done to stop sick individual who are child predator. 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 5 boys are sexually abused in US. The only thing can be done is to serve harsh punishment for those who have committed sick crime.
