What's new

Kamran Akmal decides to part ways with Peshawar Zalmi ahead of PSL8 (Did same in PSL7 but came back)

From Peshawar Zalmi media:

Kamran Akmal will represent Peshawar Zalmi in PSL7

Peshawar Zalmai's Coach and Director Cricket Mohammad Akram meets Kamran Akmal

Mohammad Akram:

Kamran Akmal has always been our key player - he will be part of Peshawar Zalmi in PSL

Kamran Akmal:

Peshawar Zalmi is my family - I will represent Peshawar Zalmi in PSL7

Lol what about release me things then?

Wah ji wah

Man of his word isnt he akmal senior?

I suppose he missed the part where this year was declared his benefit year by Zalmi.

Not humiliated anymore, huh ?

No details of the compromise from either party.

I'm guessing some sort of financial increment has been offered to the player.

So it's time to put the champagne back in the fridge

He was never going to act upon his words.

Our players do not have any alternate skills or careers, cricket is the only thing that they can do and they have to milk it as long as they can.

PCB needs to work on creating alternate careers for players while they are playing as it will help lessen the pressure on players as they'll have some kind of earning potential after cricket.

I was just thinking about Dilbar Hussain, the guy who played PSL for a year or so, this year he has been horribly out of form and hasn't been picked by anyone in PSL and may get dropped by Southern Punjab. That's such a difficult predicament to be in, one year you are earning money, the next you have nothing to look forward to.

There was another leg spinner Ibtisam Sheikh from Hyderabad who was picked by Zalmi and made a big splash for a year or so and now he's nowhere to be seen.

It cannot be an easy life being a sports person in a country like Pakistan.

I hope Zalmi lose every match.

This type of pandering to entitlement has held back our cricket and its also holding back our franchise cricket.

Day by day the PSL is showing that even if you have franchisees and business owners in charge that nothing will change in Pakistani cricket.

What a 5 star plonker.

Seriously why won't these yesteryear players like akmal , afridi and Co retire.

They make easy $.
Why would they stop?
Afridi is going to play PSL at the age of 45-46.
He said this is his last PSL. But he has retired from cricket many times.

Pathetic. Disgraceful.
PZ - you have no bottle and you have no shame. A great opportunity to provide justice and integrity to this joke drama has been lost. Fools.

That's disappointing , I thought we got rid of Kamran , finally and young Harris will have his chances , but, not to be.

Ofcourse it was too good to be true. These leeches will keep on sucking the lifeblood out of pakistan cricket till the end of time. I hope everyone reminds him of his category everyday.

Well that was quick.

Just shows the emotional intelligence of some of Pakistani players. Ready to jump on the media wagon without thinking things through and trying to sort things out in private.

Well they know it ll get them what they want

The whole set up is unprofessional and so are the players who will do anything to prolong their careers

In many other countries he wouldve been cast aside for good for such public remarks and hed have been made an example of but in pakistan this sort of blackmailing gets you what you want

No sorry This is totally wrong Ramiz is spot on
Im sorry to say the PSL has turned into an old mans club with too many past it players esrning on reputation than performance

The whole reason for having a domestic structure and tournament is to feed the intl team and give it success

We have too many past it over the hill players stealing a living and costing the intnl team because they are taking a place of a potential star of tmrw

Time this circus is put to an end and restrictions put in place

Nope its not

Psl job isnt to help pak cricket its for them to nake money.

Domestic on the other hand can be forced to select young players. Your domestic cricket should pay enough that it should be the main. International crixket isnt something that every domestic player could play.

In all domestix leagues we see 30+ players existing you cnat just ask then to go

Honestly Peshawar Zalmi had all the reasons and authority to accept Kamran's withdrawal and move on to get some other young deserving player.

Like most Pak players Kamran can't accept that his international is career is over. Looking at the future surely means up and coming players instead of yesterday's news. Kamran should have enough money to open a shop or something. Outside Cricket that is probably the best that an uneducated man like him can do.

The pcb pick which band each player should be in hence the board should be prioritising the development of younger players who can serve the board over the next 5-10 years

You say every league has 30 plus players? I ask you which decent league has as many mediocre 40+ players as the psl

Akmal talks likes hes the next coming of gilchrist The guy is in denial

Well and truly back - now featuring in a photoshoot for the new kit!

Shameless, all the crying I wont play psl now this

If there were issues why embarass yourself and them by going public and then doing a full uturn

Sort them out in private

Because this is how he’s acted his whole career and idiotic fans have supported him.

Being quiet and meek like Fawad Alam does you no favours.

I can’t believe there was a time people were calling for a recall for this guy. Poor attitude. Egotistical so and so. I hope he gets out for 0 in every match

lost all respect for PZ , they had a golden opportunity to put a has been in his place & set a great example instead they let him climb on their head , what an absolute disgrace , even the chaval reporters are cringe

Not picked for the first game - will he be picked for the future games? Cadmore could well do the job better

I hope he plays every game… and loses Zalmi key matches like he has in the past. Maybe then they’ll get the message.

The damage is already done. This was probably going to be his last PSL anyway but they have set the precedent that emotional blackmailing is ok.

Dropped and if Haris does well, may not see him again in the PSL this year.

With Haris performing today, I wonder just how much of Kamran Akmal we'll see in the rest of PSL7.

Unfortunately k akmal has always been overated with the bat

In the past hes had the ability to make the odd hundred but in between it was always littered with avge to poor scores

Hence why he avges in the 20s in all formats

At 40 now with reflexes slowing hes going downhill fast, he isnt good enough to play in the psl anymore even tho he may think so

And Kamran Akmal leaves Peshawar Zalmi... again

Has tweeted his decision and talked about 7 years of association and thanked the management.
