What's new

Kane Williamson (139*) and Henry Nicholls (90*) put New Zealand on top in final Test versus Pakistan

Had Asad shafique and lower order carried after his 100 inz would have been out batted seriously this man is the next one to Amir who is not interested in game and plays only for his own place

+1 As long his place is secure he is happy.

Pak batsman are so hopeless when theyr gna need real tuk tuking to save game tomorrow Azhar & co will go for shots as they did on last NZ tour.

Or how poor is Sarfraz - Misbah actually ended with 1-1 against Kiwis & Lankans & managed to lose a Test to WIN.

Atleast he never lost a series and generally I think he was tactically better in tests.

This captaincy of Sarfaraz shows just how good was Misbah as a test captain in UAE

Rofl under Misbah, Pakistan lost by an innings and 80 runs in one of the tests at home turf[UAE]. And just about drew the test series 1-1. On NZ tour its even more embarrassing, Pakistan lost the series 0-2 and failed to score even 200 in the first test.

New Zealand is'nt that fantastic team individually but play well with their fielding. Pakistan always fails the plot and give them an opening. This needs to change

One can't win by keeping people like Imam and Hafeez in the team. Pakistan throughout the series started 2 down.

Man.... now NZ are on top and can dictate terms in this game... Game slowly slipping into Draw or loss situation for Pakistan...

Get wickets somehow guys :sk

Bilals underarm bowling on a 4th day pitch sums up this game fr pak. No threat what so ever watch that rookie nz spinner go thru pak batting line up tomorrow!

NZ still not out of the woods. First test was a one off. 250 is the absolute max you can be logically comfortable with, getting 6 wickets till then is not impossible.

300+ (unlikely) and we'll have to make history (again :misbah)

Ball is spinning. Kiwis have batted really well.

These two have batted for 75 overs. probably one of the best defensive partnerships of all time in the UAE

It is a big discredit for Pakistan that a nonasian team has put up 200 runs partnership after being 60/4

Even if Pakistan can't win from here, you should try and draw the match. You gain 1 point from drawing the series and NZ lose points. That would make PAK come within 5 points of NZ. Can't afford to lose this.

That Sri Lankan team still had Sanga and Mahela. SRL were beaten in 2011 series.

Whereas losing 0-2 to a SRL team that has just been blanked at home by England, and playing 3 seamers on spin decks is a bigger blunder. As is drawing a Test to the weakest Australian team since Packer.

274, 348 and now 262/4

Indication that this pitch is becoming a road as the Test match progresses. Pretty poor pitch I would say. Should not be happening. It would be shameful if Pakistan collapses on the 5th day on this pitch which is only getting better.

Misbah was good, but not someone exceptional.

This guy is decent for club cricket ....

348 could have been 450 had our batsmen played well

Kiwis leaving I very late. They should have started launching it 10 overs ago.
Maybe they know the wicket has flattened out completely.

250 would be a very good target but looks like the Kiwis want to make sure that a win for Pakistan is completely out of their reach.

So it seems that Kiwis will bat until lunch tomorrow and hope panic sets in and Pakistan collapse in a heap.

I can see Grandhomme or southee been sent in next and look to slog a quick few runs, I can see new zealand looking to bat maybe 20 overs or 25 over max tomorrow and then have 70 overs or so at us.

New Zealand have scored more in the second innings in every test this series. Do pitches get easier to bat on in the UAE?

Now we know who was the captain who truly went for the kill in UAE and the captain who rested on his laurels.

More you deem a captain aggressive, more they turn out to do cowardly things. Here it was Sarfraz, but Afridi had similar honors.

As much as I criticize Misbah, he went for victory in UAE.

198-4, with 90 overs left. No way Kiwis are losing this one.

The don't need to. ODIs series tied and now test series being drawn on UAE is going to be a massive achievement for them. It's Pakistan that should be worried not to beat this NZ side 3-0. One of the most halwa batting apart from Williampson.

Will either end up as a draw or Pak will collapse on the final day for the 1000th time. Captaincy has been poor throughout this innings. Captain Clueless.

Completely agree.

However, knowing our mental midgets with the bat, I think they could have tried to up the tempo once they got the last past 160 but like you say it's not really in their interest. Better to bat Pakistan out of it then take any risks especially as there is little in this wicket.

Australia needed lesser than that against us on the last day in Melbourne. We will lose this game badly.

Hey Hey Hey ,,,, This happened?
Yasir Shah dropped Williamson twice, on 80 and 106.

So Yasir is a villain ha? :yasir

Kiwis probably will settle for s safe draw & can’t blame them - they are holding rubber and they’ll blank PAK next time these two teams meet in Kiwi land.

But, if Ken is ambitious, he can throw cat among the pigeons - use heavy roller, bat for 13 overs like crazy & declare (or get all out) for 330 with a lead of like 256 and 75 overs to take 10 wickets (or chase at 3.43 rate)

It's so embarrassing to not have reviews left in the bag on plumb decisions. Sarfraz has not wasted reviews tok early for the first time. He done that against Aus which helped them to draw the game and also against NZ in first test. Patjetic captaincy and him being the wicket keeper makes it even worse.

If I were NZ fan I would take 1-1 result with both hands especially against Yasir Shah on these tracks.

Kiwi strategy [ hopefully ] : bat for 13 overs , score 70 & declare setting a target of 269-270 in 75 overs . Hosts with their usual tedious batting style will not attempt this .
Will KW muster up the courage to do that with series being 1-1 ?

This test can end in a draw if Pak batsmen don't do silly things. If they goes for a win they can loose

Kane is the most underrated player this decade. There was one ball which really grubbed through low from Yasir and Waqar mentioned that only kane could have played that. He's right too. He may not be the most dominant batsman it flash y but can play on tough pitches with minnowesqye support from the other kiwi bats. Fantastic player.

True. An innings of highest class. There were 2-3 other deliveries too in the first session.

He is the most complete batsman playing in current era. Knew he would score big today.

Yeah. It is the ease with which he negotiate d the pitch and the attack that was noteworthy. Never looked troubled.

That was simply brilliant by Williamson and Nicholls. The pitch has become docile but a few deliveries did turn but others simply were too slow to make a difference.

This is NZ match to lose and all will depend how long they bat. I reckon they target quick-fire runs in the first session and get Pakistan to bat half-an-hour before lunch.

A target of 270-75 is what I'd be looking at if I were Williamson.

I don't think kiwis will take risk and declared. Oh man draw on cards. Execellent batting by willi

Only one side can win this match and its not Pakistan.

yes Mr Obvious , i think i posted that when kiwi score crossed 220 :)
Just for a exciting last day , i hope visitors throw bat at everything & set 270 in 75 overs but that will not happen . KW will play ultra-safe .

Win the toss helped to win the tests earlier. Let's see how this one turns out.

Has Pakistan won a test after losing toss in recent times in UAE?

It'll be a minor miracle if NZ don't win. Our test team is an embarrassment since 2016.

Pakistan tailenders cannot score more than 20 runs between themselves. Azhar Mahmood should be given a dressing down for such pitiful performance.

Since yesterday's collapse, I had a bad feeling about this match, the lead was not big enough and I thought it would go the same way as the 1st Test, and unfortunately I've been proven right. Even if we draw tomorrow, I will still be disappointed with a 1-1 result. Our players should apologize to the nation for this pathetic performance.

Asad to hit a fourth second-innings hundred and announce himself to the world as we romp home by five wickets :asad1

Need to bat the first 45-60 mins tomorrow and score and score 270.

New Zealand have got this game in the bag, it is theirs to lose. Expecting a traditional Pakistan 4th innings collapse tomorrow.

Most likely a draw or Pak will cave in again as always when batting tomorrow. The 4 run defeat cost us big time.

If series ends up 1-1, this is a win situation for NZ. With premium spinners and slow wickets, this series was ours to lose.
