Sad to see him not playing anymore games in CT, a very good batsman who will not get as many chances as Kohli, Smiith, Root, etc. to perform on the big stage.

A great but a soft player, and doesn't score big either. He is the master of scoring half-centuries in losing cause. The hundred vs Australia earlier in the group was one of the few impactful ODI knocks that he has played.

He will forever remain in the shadow of Kohli, Root and Smith, and I don't think it necessarily because he plays for NZ, but yes it does play a part to an extent.

On a side note, Babar is the early version of Williamson, not Kohli.

Top quality Test batsman, very good ODI player but lacks impact, a gentleman but has no charisma, and a below average captain. His fans will consider him an ATG, but most of the cricketing world will not put him on the same pedestal.

Smith is to Tests what Kohli is to ODIs. Both are on the brink of becoming ATGs in these respective formats. They need to be top two.

de Villiers is a difficult one. He is an overrated Test cricketer and in spite of ATG stats in ODIs, he has failed to win big matches for SA. In addition, he is one of the worst captains ever. He could potentially end up below all of these names except Williamson.

The team is going backwards at a rapid rate under him. The fact that he can't make the tough decisions and continues to allow for the selections of duds is unacceptable.

He will end up as an ATG. Already a better player than Root in tests and played memorable knocks against quality attacks. Kohli doesnt come in top 10 test batsmen as of now in his 50+ test match career. He s the Hashim Amla of tests. Soft runs when they dont matter hardly making impact on his team winning even though they have a star batting side.

Williamson needs better support in odis. He is at par to Smith and Root who have much better support. Kohli in odis is an ATG.

He's terrible because the team seems so down in the field, before Kane they were really energetic and talkative, that has gone down hill since then. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest that fielding standards have slipped and NZ is no longer among the best fielding sides in the world.

Lara was one of the greatest because had the ability to do well against all teams and score big in a really swift manner. His natural talent was greater than all barring a handful of other batsmen in the game's history. Lara was a legend among the legends.

Williamson on the other hand is not a sure shot legend, he does score runs but many a time, they often seem soft almost invisible as others have mentioned. If Williamson is currently judged as to his career trajectory, I would say someone like Mahela Jayawardena's marks are where he will end up - very good, world class on occasion but not really at the level of the best in his era. By NZ standards, Williamson will be their best batsman when he retires but by ATG standards he doesn't have one mountain to climb but several.

btw Williamson also scored a fine 40 odd in wc group match against Aus to guide his team to victory in a thriller. That was quite a good little innings against quality bowling. This guy isnt bad as people are making him out. That innings was better than all of Root innings in WC.

Williamson's problem is he is no Kohli who will regularly score and chase you 300s single handedly. Kohli has set the bar very high for others in odis that we expect others to be like him. He is on a different level imo.

Williamson is good against quality bowling and will more often then not singlehandedly can guide his team to 260-270s but that are not enough in modern ods. For 300+ Kane needs dynamic reliable openers, selfess middle order partners and someone like Dhoni down the order. He will start winning more matches once he has better support.

Atleast he is a more humble and gracious human being and trust me when kohli gets older his technique will burry him and smith will definitely face problems.Williamson however makes batting easy and even in his mid 30s he will score hundreds

My favourite non-Indian player. He has shown he has game for limited over as well. They just need a good batsman in a lower middle order to close out matches which they have been losing more often than not. He will go down as an ATG if he keeps on performing like this regardless of how people think of him on forums.
