Some background (taken from CoPilot):

Pakistan’s domestic cricket restructuring, done to please some, where Karachi’s traditional teams (Blues and Whites) were initially stripped of top‑tier status, sparking backlash over representation and fairness.

Domestic revamp by PCB:
In the latest restructuring, Karachi Blues and Karachi Whites were relegated from the Quaid‑e‑Azam Trophy to lower‑tier competitions, losing their first‑class status (Cricbuzz.)
  • Representation dispute: Karachi, Pakistan’s largest cricketing hub, argued that sidelining its teams diminished opportunities for local players and unfairly reduced the city’s presence in elite cricket.
  • Backlash from stakeholders: Former players, officials, and fans criticized the PCB for undermining Karachi’s historic role in domestic cricket. Many felt the revamp favored other regions while marginalizing Karachi.
  • Temporary reinstatement: Despite the revamp, Karachi Blues were later allowed back into the Quaid‑e‑Azam Trophy for the 2025‑26 season, but their inclusion was clouded by debate over whether it was a permanent fix or a stopgap measure.
  • Performance overshadowed by politics: Even as Karachi Blues reached the final against Sialkot (Cricket World, The Nation), discussions around their legitimacy and future in the competition continued, highlighting the tension between sporting merit and administrative decisions.

So, we will have a few red or even pale faces at the PCB and amongst many others who did this restructuring thinking no one would notice and then had to restore the status of Karachi Blues.

Now that the Blues have won the title, these same people should have the moral courage to stand-up and tell us that they were badly wrong in ignoring Karachi like that.

This saga exposes how disconnect and political maneuvering inside the PCB continue to damage domestic cricket, because if Karachi Blues can dominate the moment they’re reinstated, it’s clear they should never have been removed in the first place. The officials who pushed that flawed restructuring now owe the cricketing community an honest acknowledgment of their mistake.
