In yet another odd cricket dismissal, batter Mohammad Waleed got himself out in a truly unusual manner during the final of the 2024-25 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

Playing for Sialkot, Waleed was on a score of zero when he blocked a delivery back towards bowler Mohammad Amir Khan leading to his unexpected dismissal.

Though Waleed looked safe in his crease, Khan's spontaneous throw at the stumps caught him off guard. Replays confirmed Waleed's front foot was outside the crease, and his attempt to jump out of the ball's path resulted in it hitting the stumps, leading to his dismissal.

Good to see they at least broadcasted the final. Actually prepared a pretty good spicy pitch too that's swinging & seaming around.

Nice to get a look at Maaz & Awais as well. Awais looks like a pretty classy player and his debut season has been quite impressive. It's fun a strange season with some flat pitches and some crazy pitches where numerous teams are bowled out for below 100. Nonetheless, anytime an extremely young player is FC debut at his age and scoring this many centuries, it's quite impressive. Worth noting though, his worst game of the season was against Mohammad Abbas who got him both times for 0 & 3 runs. That's why it's important to have as many international calibre players in FC cricket as possible. It helps prepare the kids.

On a side note, why are all the left handed batsmen in Pakistan openers? Seems like left handed batsmen in the middle order are virtually non-existent.

Nabi Gul banned for three domestic matches

Peshawar Region’s Nabi Gul has been handed a three-match ban after he was found guilty of a Level three breach of the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel during the ongoing final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi.

Nabi was found to have violated the Article 2.15 (a) of the Code of Conduct, which reads as, “Attempting to gain an unfair advantage during a Match.” It furthers includes, without limitation:

• (a) Deliberate attempts to deceive an Umpire (for example by claiming a catch when the Player concerned knew that he/she had not caught the ball cleanly)
• (b) Any attempts by a Player on the field of play to seek assistance from any person off the field of play in order to decide whether to request a referral to the TV Umpire;
• (c) Taking a foreign object onto the field whose most likely reason for being there is to change the condition of the ball.

The incident occurred on Friday, the second day of the five-day final, when Nabi claimed a catch despite clearly dropping the ball in the 73rd over of Sialkot Region’s first innings.

On-field umpires, Faisal Khan Aafreedi and Rashid Riaz levelled the charge with the help of TV Umpire Imran Jawed. Match Referee Iqbal Sheikh imposed the sanction.

Nabi pleaded guilty to the charge hence no further hearing was required.

So a lot it these FC matches are not televised or not paid attention to. The only angle you might see is the front on, therefore it’s easy for players to do whatever they want outside of the frame.

This bloke basically got caught with more camera angles and eyeballs to the match as it’s the domestic final.

Horrible pitches this season , They should have rolled out batting pitches for such tournaments and find real quality pacers who can get wickets on dead surfaces where as T20 and OD tournaments should get supporting pitches with good bounce and pace in order to separate real batting talent from stats padders , this way we will get both quality batters and bowlers who can play in all kinds of pitches.

That is let the batsmen scoring tons for fun on dead batting wickets in Quaid Trophy and they will get filtered out in OD and T20 due to fast and bouncy pitches , and we will get to know which bowlers are good wicket takers in dead surfaces , literally it’s the best of both world.

Ali Raza takes seven-fer as final heads for an exciting finish

Ali Raza’s maiden 10 wicket-haul in first-class cricket led Sialkot to dismiss Peshawar for 159 in their second innings on the third day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 final at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi on Saturday. At stumps, Sialkot were 114 runs away from winning the title with five wickets in hand.

Resuming their second innings at the overnight score of five for no loss, Peshawar were dismissed for 159 in 59.5 overs with right-arm fast Ali Raza, playing his second first-class match bagging seven wickets for 48 runs in 14 overs. He ended-up with match figures of 10 for 110.

Sialkot’s captain Amad Butt, who took four wickets in the first innings, grabbed two wickets in the second innings to give support to Ali from the other end.

For Peshawar, opening batter Maaz Sadaqat showed some resistance with the bat with a 79-ball 57, which included seven fours and a six. Mehran Ibrahim (32, 69b, 3x4s), Zubair Khan (28, 95b, 2x4s) and Mohammad Amir Khan (13 not out, 14b, 2x4s) were the other batters to score into double figures.

In turn, chasing 173 runs to win, Sialkot lost half of their side with 55 runs on the board and were 59 for five in 15 overs when stumps were drawn. Peshawar’s right-arm fast Niaz Khan was the pick of the bowlers, clinching four wickets for 20 runs in eight overs.

Sialkot defeated Peshawar by one wicket in a thrilling final match.

Sialkot was given a target of 173 runs, which they achieved with the loss of 9 wickets.

Captain Ammad Butt played an important inning of 65 runs, and Shahzaib Bhatti scored a match-winning 32 runs not out.

For Peshawar, Niaz Khan took four wickets, and Amir Khan claimed three wickets.

Primarily I was interested in watching hurraira So I fast forwarded to his batting and while watching him I noticed mohsin'.

And you are right to notice his batting against spin, I did notice it too but instead of thinking that he's a spin basher what really caught my eye with how comfortable he was playing spin all around the park, This was the type of a batting vs spin that I have not seen done against spin nowhere near consistently as I would like for Pakistani players to do so That was one of the reasons I wanted @MMHS to take a look at him and see what he thinks of this guy.
