What's new

Karachi Kings (199/5) defeat Rawalpindi Pindiz (197/6) to continue their unbeaten run in PSL 11

Poor over by Rishad

Actually poor captaincy by Rizwan to bowl him now

Batters got used to him

Dominic Cork makes a great point of how these loser fielders are always blaming the lights after dropping catches. The lights aren't going anywhere lol...how many times will you make the same excuse?

So Rizwan as a captain hasn't won any match in PSL for ages...from top to bottom. Things have changed thick and fast for him as a capatin

Don’t think the interviewer even asked Rizwan about Naseem…

But he had to insert him in the discussion as if he’s Jasprit Bumrah of Pakistan :ROFLMAO:

“Hum ne Naseem lena hi lena tha!” :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

A few of the new owners have no clue and are guided by the wrong people they need Rana as a consultant you would do a better job. :inti

Captain David Warner and wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan produced explosive half-centuries to guide Karachi Kings to a thrilling five-wicket victory over RawalPindiz in the 10th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.

Chasing a daunting 198, the 2020 champions sealed the win with four balls to spare, thanks to a decisive 76-run stand for the third wicket between Warner and Azam. The chase began shakily as opener Muhammad Waseem fell in the third over with 27 runs on the board. Warner then combined with Salman Ali Agha (29) for a steady 43-run partnership before Agha’s dismissal in the ninth over. Azam was promoted to No.5 ahead of Moeen Ali, and the move paid off spectacularly. He joined Warner to build the innings’ most crucial stand. Warner departed in the 16th over for a 36-ball 50 (six fours, one six), but Azam carried on the assault, hammering 74 off just 34 balls with six fours and six towering sixes. His dismissal in the penultimate over briefly raised tension, especially after Moeen Ali fell first ball in the final over. However, Abbas Afridi calmed nerves by smashing a six off the very next delivery to clinch the Kings’ third consecutive win.

For RawalPindiz, Daryl Mitchell was the standout bowler, claiming 3/32 in 3.2 overs, while Naseem Shah and Mohammad Amir chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Earlier, Warner’s decision to field first backfired as the debutants piled up 197/6, powered by a commanding 120-run fourth-wicket stand between Mitchell and Sam Billings.

RawalPindiz had stumbled to 55/3 after Hasan Ali removed captain Mohammad Rizwan (21) and Khushdil Shah struck twice in quick succession. But Mitchell (65 off 41, five fours, three sixes) and Billings (58 off 35, eight fours, one six) rebuilt superbly. Hasan eventually broke the partnership in the 18th over, while Mir Hamza dismissed Mitchell at the start of the penultimate over. Abdullah Fazal added late fireworks with an unbeaten 17 off eight balls, including two sixes.

Hasan Ali was the pick of the Kings’ bowlers with 3/24, supported by Khushdil (2 wickets) and Hamza (1 wicket).

Gohar is very lucky he got a ready made coaching core+ T20 gunz by the Sialkot owner Kamil Khan.

I have a feeling he would have done some Pakistan level blunders too.

An all time franchise classic innings today by Azam. Where does this rank amongst all keeper batsmen innings from Pak??

You can really tell how bad a bowling attack is when Daryl Mitchell is their best bowler
Against the same team KK last year, when rauf and afridi were getting thrashed, he atleast had decent figureds and lost the match, tells you about the quality of this league when a per timer who bowls is their best bowler than the star bowlers, add to that he batted well too lol

It shows you more of the decline of Amir and Naseem...... Amir is 35 plus in age no suprise there but Naseem has shown zero improvement and regressed quickly.

Daryl Mitchell’s post match press conference:

On the Recent Defeats
* "Look, I guess the team scored our runs quicker than than we’d ideally want, but look, I think both with the bat in both games, we we put on totals that we we thought we were in a good position."
* "Probably I think if we if we’re really honest, a couple of key key moments with the balls has probably cost us, you know, again tonight."
* "I thought we’re in a position to win that with the ball and um yeah, look, I guess when you drop a few catches and and things like that that don’t go your way, it makes it very challenging to try and win games of cricket."
* "The positive is we are in positions to win games of cricket and um there’s a few more to go in this competition. So we we won’t we looking forward to the next one now."

On Lahore Conditions and the Pitch
* "I think early on, you know, for us to be three down and it definitely was a little bit holdy with that new ball. Obviously, we always know here that under lights it gets nicer to bat with with a little bit of dew comes into play."
* "I thought, you know, we scrapped our way to what that 198 score, which was was a really great effort."
* "I thought the way Sam Billings came out and and took pressure off off the partnership and allowed us, I guess, to keep trying to find ways to put them under pressure, um was really pleasing."

On Personal Performance and Team Synergy
* "Yeah look it’s you never like losing. It’s never it’s never fun. It’s not why you play the game. You play to try and try and win."
* "For me, it’s it’s contributing with the bat in that number four role and and with the ball, it’s sneaking in a couple of overs and yeah, nice to get a couple of poles as well."
* "We’re a new franchise. We’re learning different partnerships and learning, I guess, how to work with each other. So, I guess the more games come, the better we’ll be for it."

On the Dew Factor
* "Look, I can think I think you can see a trend in the night games here and and we know that um it’s always a little bit nicer to bat usually in the second half."
* "That’s the nature of playing cricket in this part of the world is is is the conditions and trying to find different ways to adapt with both bat and ball."

On Azam Khan’s Performance
* "Yeah, look I I thought he played really nicely. Um, it’s always not not nice giving away chances, but um yeah, look at the power that he possesses."
* "I thought the way I guess the smarts that he took as well, it took the pressure off their partnership was it was a great innings and at the end of the day he’s won them the game. So, I take my hat off to him."

Naseem is a khaleel Ahmed level bowler at best now.

Amir getting bashed. Naseem getting bashed. The core is getting beaten everyday. Pindizz need to do better.
