Daryl Mitchell’s post match press conference:
On the Recent Defeats
* "Look, I guess the team scored our runs quicker than than we’d ideally want, but look, I think both with the bat in both games, we we put on totals that we we thought we were in a good position."
* "Probably I think if we if we’re really honest, a couple of key key moments with the balls has probably cost us, you know, again tonight."
* "I thought we’re in a position to win that with the ball and um yeah, look, I guess when you drop a few catches and and things like that that don’t go your way, it makes it very challenging to try and win games of cricket."
* "The positive is we are in positions to win games of cricket and um there’s a few more to go in this competition. So we we won’t we looking forward to the next one now."
On Lahore Conditions and the Pitch
* "I think early on, you know, for us to be three down and it definitely was a little bit holdy with that new ball. Obviously, we always know here that under lights it gets nicer to bat with with a little bit of dew comes into play."
* "I thought, you know, we scrapped our way to what that 198 score, which was was a really great effort."
* "I thought the way Sam Billings came out and and took pressure off off the partnership and allowed us, I guess, to keep trying to find ways to put them under pressure, um was really pleasing."
On Personal Performance and Team Synergy
* "Yeah look it’s you never like losing. It’s never it’s never fun. It’s not why you play the game. You play to try and try and win."
* "For me, it’s it’s contributing with the bat in that number four role and and with the ball, it’s sneaking in a couple of overs and yeah, nice to get a couple of poles as well."
* "We’re a new franchise. We’re learning different partnerships and learning, I guess, how to work with each other. So, I guess the more games come, the better we’ll be for it."
On the Dew Factor
* "Look, I can think I think you can see a trend in the night games here and and we know that um it’s always a little bit nicer to bat usually in the second half."
* "That’s the nature of playing cricket in this part of the world is is is the conditions and trying to find different ways to adapt with both bat and ball."
On Azam Khan’s Performance
* "Yeah, look I I thought he played really nicely. Um, it’s always not not nice giving away chances, but um yeah, look at the power that he possesses."
* "I thought the way I guess the smarts that he took as well, it took the pressure off their partnership was it was a great innings and at the end of the day he’s won them the game. So, I take my hat off to him."
