Karachi Kings PSL 7 Discussion

Their squad selection didn’t make sense. Why pick Nabi when you already have Imad. Barring Amir, every bowler they picked was a defensive bowler rather than a wicket ticker. A couple of interesting picks they made, that never made the squad, we’re Romario Shepherd and Tom Abell. They may not have made a difference, but it would have been good to see them.

For the remaining games, it’s important that Qasim Akram gets sent ahead of Nabi at 4. It’s also worth replacing Umaid Asif with Faisal Akram, to see how the young lad does.

For next year, it’s important that Karachi disband the majority of this squad. Only retain Imad, Amir, Sharjeel and the Akrams. I would go as far as trading Babar to Peshawar, if I can get Livingston and Haider in return.

No point in keeping Amir either. He just plays random leagues now, doesnt even play domestic cricket. I dont expect him to consistently be fit and perform at the PSL. He was pretty bad the last time he played.

Lahore, 15 February 2022: Imad Wasim of Karachi Kings has been fined five per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the PSL Code of Conduct during his side’s one-run defeat against Islamabad United in the 21st match of the HBL Pakistan Super League 2022 at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.

Imad was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a PSL Match”.

The incident happened in the first over of the match after Imad had Rahmanullah Gurbaz caught by Babar Azam at mid-off after the opener had hit the left-arm spinner for two sixes in three balls.

Imad admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed to be imposed by Ranjan Madugalle and, as such, there was no need for a formal hearing. The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Asif Yaqoob and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Rashid Riaz and fourth umpire Nasir Hussain.

All first-time offences of Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official warning and/or imposition of a fine of up to 25 per cent of the applicable match fee.

Karachi officially has the record of having the most losses in PSL. 7 is the number.

Am not sure how or why they should retain Amir.

Mir Hamza after being named man of the match against Lahore: "our plan was simple, we wanted to win today as we wanted to put a smile on the faces of the people of Karachi"

Imad Wasim in his interview with us:

PakPassion.net: What went wrong with Karachi Kings in PSL7, and do you feel that your future is still with the franchise?

Imad Wasim: If you look at Karachi’s records in the previous editions of the PSL, we have done well and reached the playoffs and have also won the title, but PSL 7 was a disappointment for us, and these things can happen. We had some issues with our squad selection and we were wrong in a tactical sense as well. We also had injuries to Mohammad Amir and some other players which didn’t help our situation at all. But I am confident that we will come back strong in the next edition. Now whether my future is with Karachi Kings or not is a decision which is up to the franchise and the tournament is still 6-8 months away so there is plenty of time for Karachi to decide if they wish to retain me. All that is in the future as far as I am concerned and at the moment, I am looking ahead to playing in the Caribbean Premier League and doing well for my team in this tournament.
