Most boring squad resonating a boring T20 batting captain

Sorry to people from Karachi here. But did not see any x factor guy in your squad.

This squad is even weaker than Quetta's. So, Quetta and Karachi are already out of the upcoming PSL in advance.

The head coach of Karachi Kings Phil Simmons shares his thoughts on the HBL PSL 2024 Draft.

Karachi Kings, Pakistan’s biggest city’s HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise on Wednesday, finalised their squad for the upcoming HBL PSL 9 in the Players Draft held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Lahore.

The 2020 HBL PSL champions, who had the second pick in the first round of the Platinum category, roped in the legendary West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who has a record tally of 12,390 runs and 312 wickets in the T20 format.

The Kings then picked Australian all-rounder Daniel Sams, who will be featuring in the HBL PSL for the first time. The all-rounder has represented Australia in 10 T20Is. He also has an impressive record in T20 cricket, having taken 179 wickets and scored 1,699 runs in the format.

Karachi Kings’ last Platinum pick was Pakistan’s all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz, who had been a part of Quetta Gladiators since the inaugural edition of the marquee league.

Nawaz is the sixth-highest leading wicket-taker of the league’s history with 70 scalps in 76 matches with the best bowling figures of 4/13. He also has 728 runs to his name with the help of a half-century.

The former champions then bagged the services of New Zealand’s Tim Seifert, who joined Hasan Ali and James Vince in the Diamond category.

The wicketkeeper batter possesses a decent T20 record, having scored over four thousand runs with the help of two centuries and 22 half-centuries.

In the Silver category, Karachi Kings roped in young pacer Mohammad Amir Khan before picking up seasoned all-rounder Anwar Ali and U19 cricket sensation Arafat Minhas, who rose to fame in the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Junior League (PJL).

He was named the captain of the team of the tournament and was also adjudged the best all-rounder of the PJL.

The trio of Amir, Anwar and Arafat joined Mir Hamza and Mohammad Akhlaq in the Silver category, who were retained by the franchise.

Known for identifying and nurturing young talents, the Kings then drafted right-arm medium pacer Sirajuddin in the Emerging category, joining Mohammad Irfan Khan.

The season five winners also acquired the services of current Pakistan U19 captain Saad Baig in the Supplementary category before making their last pick of the HBL PSL 9 Players Draft when they roped in English bowling all-rounder Jamie Overton.

Overton has played over 100 T20 matches and has picked up 70 wickets at an average of almost 30. He also has 987 runs to his name, coming at a hefty strike rate of over 174.

Karachi Kings Squad for HBL PSL 9: Shan Masood (c), Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams, Mohammad Nawaz, Tim Siefert, James Vince, Hasan Ali, Shoaib Malik, Tabraiz Shamis, Mohammad Amir Khan, Anwar Ali, Arafat Minhas, Mir Hamza, Muhammad Akhlaq, Muhammad Irfan Niazi, Sirajuddin, Saad Baig, and Jamie Overton.

Hopefully they finish bottom of the table, what a terrible team.

They went from Babar, Sharjeel, Imad, Amir to Shan Masood, Mohammad Nawaz, Pollard and Hasan Ali.

Sheesh... this is the weakest squad by far. I struggle to find a decent combination they can play. The fact they have Shoaib Malik in their squad tells us everything we need to know about their management.

What a boring & crappy squad. Only interesting part is Arafat Minhas but they even didn't retain a player like Qasim Akram who at least has potential. Not sure what they hope to accompolish retaining scrubs like Mir Hamza and drafting mediocrity like Anwar Ali. This squad is setup very well to finish last.

Against all odds, I still think this squad is a decent one. There are a few middle order chinks but I wouldn't right them off ending up in the top 3.

HEAD COACH PHIL SIMMONS REVEALS KARACHI KINGS’ POST-PLAYERS DRAFT PLANS

The newly-appointed head coach of Pakistan’s biggest city’s HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Karachi Kings, Phil Simmons said Wednesday, that the team management will sit down and start planning straightaway after the Players Draft for the HBL PSL 9.

In a video message, released on all social media platforms of Karachi Kings, Simmons stated that they will plan on how to use the players in their arsenal to get the best for the franchise.

“They’ve brought me here to do a job [and] we’re gonna sit down tomorrow and we’re gonna start planning how we do the job,” Phil Simmons said after the HBL PSL 9 Players Draft.

“We know who we have now and we’ll just plan out how we use them to get the best for the franchise,” he added.

Phil Simmons further shared that Karachi Kings got the majority of the players they were looking for in the Players Draft while also terming his experience “brilliant”.

“It’s been brilliant. The night has been brilliant. I think the draft was excellent and we got 90 percent of what we wanted so, it’s always good when you get to that,” stated Simmons.

Head coach Simmons then urged Karachi Kings’ fans to support a “new-look team” and vowed to try to do their best in the HBL PSL 9.

“Keep supporting us, we’re gonna try to do our best, we’re building over a new-look team and we know that some of the guys you love are not here anymore but let’s start to love all the ones who we’re bringing now and lets your support all through,” he concluded.

Karachi Kings Squad for HBL PSL 9: Shan Masood (c), Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams, Mohammad Nawaz, Tim Siefert, James Vince, Hasan Ali, Shoaib Malik, Tabraiz Shamis, Mohammad Amir Khan, Anwar Ali, Arafat Minhas, Mir Hamza, Muhammad Akhlaq, Muhammad Irfan Niazi, Sirajuddin, Saad Baig, and Jamie Overton.

Possible XI
Tim Siefert
James Vince
Shan Masood
Shoaib Malik
Mohammad Irfan Khan
Mohammad Nawaz
Kieron Pollard
Anwar Ali
Hasan Ali
Mir Hamza
Tabraiz Shamsi

With no Sharjeel, Imad, Amir, the squad has been rid of toxicity.

The overall squad is light, but Karachi will, in most likelihood, do much better than their last 2 seasons.

Hasan Ali, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Nawaz are glaring holes in the bowling lineup though.

DANIEL SAMS – THE ALL-ROUNDER EXTRAORDINAIRE FOR KARACHI KINGS

Karachi Kings have locked their squad for the upcoming HBL PSL 9 after a robust thought process and the exciting HBL PLS Players’ Draft 2024 held in Lahore.

Among the stars that adorn this stellar team is Daniel Richard Sams, a force to be reckoned with in the high-octane T20 format. From dazzling on the field to creating ripples in the cricketing world, Daniel Sams has carved his niche as a dynamic all-rounder.

A Karachi Kings Addition:

Picked in the platinum category for the HBL PSL 9, Daniel Sams joins the Karachi Kings’ ranks, injecting an explosive blend of skills and charisma into the squad.

His presence amplifies the team’s edge, promising an adrenaline-filled season for fans and spectators alike.

T20 Maestro:

Sams’ cricketing brilliance shines brightest in the T20 format. His staggering 1700 runs in 123 innings with seven 50+ scores and 180 wickets in 149 matches underscore his impact as a versatile all-rounder. With a bat in hand, his right-hand batting style becomes a weapon, while his left-arm fast-medium bowling adds an unpredictable edge to the game.

International Stature:

The Australian international made his mark on the global stage with his debut for the national team in December 2020. His consistency in T20Is, amassing 106 runs at a blistering strike rate of 170.96 and claiming 7 wickets, cements his prowess as a game-changer under the highest pressure.

A Global Journey:

Sams’ cricketing odyssey spans across continents. From his impactful stints with Sydney Sixers to playing in every major cricket league in the world, his reputation as a sought-after asset in the cricketing leagues transcends boundaries.

Karachi Kings’ Maestro-in-the-Making:

Beyond his statistics, Sams embodies the spirit of Karachi Kings’ fervor—a combination of talent, determination, and a knack for delivering in clutch moments. His addition to the team signifies an exciting chapter in the Karachi Kings’ journey towards HBL PSL 9 supremacy.

Daniel Sams stands tall as a symbol of cricketing excellence, a player whose name resonates with power-packed performances and a promise of gripping cricketing moments. As he dons the Karachi Kings’ jersey, he embraces the challenge of transforming every match into a spectacle of sheer cricketing brilliance.

Karachi Kings already have the premium all-rounder Kieron Pollard. While having more all-rounders increases the chances of winning, I honestly don't think Karachi Kings will make it to the semifinals due to their weak bowling lineup.

That is the situation ok KKs now that we have to rely on Kieron Pollard which is a massive failure in PSL.

I am planning to move out of karachi for this PSL season :ROFLMAO:

PSL Nine Supplementary and Replacement Players announced

Karachi Kings had the third pick and they went for English middle-order batter Leus De Plooy meanwhile the fourth pick belonged to Lahore Qalandars who took on board the Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who featured for Peshawar Zalmi in the last HBL PSL season.

I would like to see the Kings give opportunities to Minhas , Baig and Amir khan.

Shan should open with Siefert and vince coming one down.

I would like to see the Kings give opportunities to Minhas , Baig and Amir khan.

Shan should open with Siefert and vince coming one down.

I think it's better to go with explosive openers.

Shan won't utilize the power play so its better to put him in the 1 down position and open with Seifert and Vince.

Yeah that's true. It's better to switch them as per the situation but need to keep things simple for all the openers that go and attack from the very first ball and make maximum use of the power play.
The trouble for Karachi is the bowling attack even if they some how get to 190 - 200 I reckon most teams will fancy chasing it down.

Amir leaving and loosing Abrar last season if I recall correctly will cost them.

Shamsi and Nawaz look their biggest threat. Amir Khan and Minhas have talent.

Sams could be effective with cutters on our decks plus they have Mir hamza s experience and overton is untested on our surfaces.

I feel overall when you look at their bowling line up you see a bunch of bowlers who batting teams will target maybe bar Shamsi which is why Amir s 4 overs was massive for them.

Karachi Kings Mourn the Loss of Navaid Rasheed, Team Manager & VP Operations

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that Karachi Kings announce the passing of Navaid Rasheed, our beloved Team Manager & VP Operations. Navaid was not only an integral part of our franchise since its inception but also a cherished friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Karachi Kings mamagement kindly request everyone to keep Navaid's family in their prayers and thoughts as they cope with this tragic loss.

May Navaid's soul find eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire us all.

Haven't heard much from Wasim Akram in the build up for PSL 9. Is he still affiliated with Karachi Kings?

Their pace bowling looks so vanila.

Anwar Ali
Hasan Ali
Mir Hamza
Mohammad Amir Khan
Airajuddin
Daniel Sams
Jamie Overton

You know you are in trouble if Hasan Ali is your spearhead fast bowler!

Hoping they do well. I like how they’re trying to reinvent themselves. And I think a lot of these guys are guys whose stock has dropped out of favour, looking to revive themselves. While I do think they’re the weakest, I do have a feeling Shan will get this team outperforming.

This pace attack looks like a bunch of newbies trying to make an entrance into the cricket world. Hasan being the only experienced guy after Anwar ali. Not good.

How does Anwar Ali manage to make so many franchise teams, he can't bowl or bat

Karachi Kings have been dealt a double blow ahead of PSL2024, with Tabraiz Shamsi only available for the first six matches and Jamie Overton withdrawn for the whole season.

For me, they had one of the weakest squads for this upcoming season and this will only make their squad even weaker. It would be a surprise if they make the playoffs this season.

If Babar opens,

Peshawar, Multan and Karachi need to finish last. Otherwise we will most likely be heading into another World Cup already not being strong enough to win it.

What does Babar opening have to do anything with Karachi kings or Multan sultan etc? Karachi has the worst squad in this PSL and if they somehow manage to win here, I will give all the credit to their captain and coach for taking this team to such a height but IMO this is not going to happen.

Karachi Kings have arrived in Multan for the 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League.

I'm excited to see Mir Hamza in action for Karachi Kings. Quetta Gladiators didn't utilize him well.

Let's see how it goes for Hasan Ali but I am not sure if he is going to be among top 3 bowlers of the PSL edition.

FEARLESS AND FIERY HASAN ALI’S IMPACTFUL PRESENCE FOR KARACHI KINGS IN THE HBL PSL 9

Since its inception in 2016, the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) has established itself as a premier platform for showcasing cricketing talent, particularly in the bowling department.

For Hasan Ali and the Karachi Kings, each game presents a new challenge, whether it’s bowling with the new ball in the powerplay or delivering in the high-pressure moments of the death overs.

Hasan Ali’s ability to adapt to these varying situations underscores his value as a key player in the Kings’ lineup. His words reflect a mindset of flexibility and responsibility, where team needs dictate his role on the field.

As Hasan Ali continues to hone his craft and inspire his teammates, his impact extends beyond the boundaries of the cricket field.

James Vince takes charge as Vice-Captain of the Karachi Kings Squad for PSL9, bringing his firepower to our leadership alongside Captain Shan Masood.

How the hell can you draft a T20 squad and Nawaz ends up batting at number 5?

I know they're missing Du Plooy, but the batting is still so weak.

The fraud Haider Azhar has destroyed this franchise beyond repair

It needs to be disbanded and merged with Quetta

So Quetta gets destroyed as well?
I mean what else can you do with this pathetic franchise? They destroyed their core on the advice of a buffoon Haider Azhar

Imad Wasim didn’t get results last season but a lot of the KK games could have gone either way. They hired a RizBar fanboy and they made decisions only to appease the toxic Babar fan base who just hate players like Imad, Amir and Sharjeel. Those guys were not the problem. They were good players

Now what have you made of this joke franchise? By picking Keiron Pollard out of all players in the platinum? With Shan Masood who has no business playing T20 running to this franchise in order to captain it!!

Please for the love of God, kick this pathetic team out of PSL already.

Ban it, suspend it, whatever.

The ARY guy couldn’t care less about winning or losing- he just needs a front for marketing and advertising his ARY brand.

How is it that every year for the last few years Karachi Kings choose the absolute worst possible squad again and again and again.

The definition of insanity as Einstein said.

The same bozos who are all past its and need a miracle to reach 150 for YEARS now.

Shoaib Malik? Nawaz? JAMES VINCE?!

Vince is not even the first name on the sheet at his family bbq backyard cricket match these days, why does he have a 10 year deal at KK??!!

When we could’ve drafted Ben Duckett who is still smashing international attacks and Vince can’t even get selected internationally??

Give us Karachi walay another Sindh based team to root for at least like Larkhana Lancers or Hyderabad Badshahs so we don’t need to sit through another edition of boring KK.

With no Sharjeel, Imad, Amir, the squad has been rid of toxicity.
It’s cos of people with this kind of mindset that we have seen KK totally being destroyed.

With absolutely no evidence, these players who play to win are labelled toxic by individuals like this guy here.

Well here is your toxic free team…it’s as good as a fart!

Karachi Kings suffered their 50th defeat in yesterday's match against Multan Sultans, marking them as the first team in PSL history to reach this milestone of losses.

with such team combination KK cant even win night tournaments of Ramadan.

KK owners just gone for collecting crap this time to safe some extra bucks!

Shan Masood running to KK at the opportunity to captain the franchise. Biggest con act in the history of the PSL

Shan Masood running to KK at the opportunity to captain the franchise. Biggest con act in the history of the PSL
that is the best example of "Girti hui deewar ko aik dhaka aur do". shan masood became here a zor daar dhaka for KKs

They will come in the bottom two.
How an earth Is Baig keeping wickets and batting at 3.

I hope he can do something for his team because Karachi looks pretty mediocre when it comes to their bowling.

What about Tim Seifert? Is he with the team?

Could be a far better option compare to Daniel Sams.

Karachi vs lahore. The biggest game of this season so far. Karachi really need to wake up and win games now else they will finish at the bottom of the table once again.

Surprising to see Quetta Gladiators at the bottom despite having Mohammad Amir in the camp.

They should move the matches around.

KK still confident but not their fans
======
Karachi Kings’ wicketkeeper batter Tim Seifert on Thursday, asserted that the team is confident and is focused on finishing the group stage of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the top four

Seifert addressed the post-match press conference after Karachi Kings’ narrow five-wicket defeat against Quetta Gladiators and stated that winning or losing is part of the game but his team’s prime goal is the top-four finish.

“In this tournament, we had some close games. And obviously, we get a bit of a break now, a few trainings which would be good for the lads. But looking at the table, we are still very much in the tournament,” said Seifert.

“And that is cricket, [especially] T20 cricket, sometimes it does come down to the last ball and there has to be a winner or a loser. So, unfortunately, we are on the wrong side.

“But boys are still very confident and we’re still in the running to make the top four which is the main thing.”

Tim Seifert further praised Sherfane Rutherford’s brilliance with the bat which lifted the Gladiators to snatch a narrow victory from the Kings but at the same time acknowledged that the Kings’ bowlers made a few mistakes in execution.

“They hit the ball very cleanly but I think at the same time we probably didn’t quite execute to them. Potentially gave them too many balls that they could hit for a six.

“And, you know close games like that, it does come down to one ball. I think, yeah, it was one of those games, where we were on top and then they came back.

“But, obviously, you take the hat off, they hit the ball very cleanly.”

Tim Seifert further opened up about the different conditions but asserted that he now has a good understanding of the wickets and foresees a big score for Karachi Kings in the coming matches.

“Yeah, a bit different from back home in New Zealand, the wickets. But, I’ve played enough around the world like India and CPL [West Indies] which have similar conditions.

“But yeah, it always takes a little bit of time to adjust and now two games here for myself. So, now I have a good understanding of the wickets and hopefully going forward I can put up a big score on the board.
