Hello everybody. This thread is dedicated to Kashmiri songs which i am sure many people will find beautiful. Kashmiri music is unique in itself. The use of traditional instruments along with the beautiful lyrics create magic of the kind which is not found elsewhere. the language itself is sweet and the songs are soothing. Some of the lyrics are so poetic and deep, its amazing. a shame that translations never do justice to the original.

Here are some of the good ones:

Kashmiri music

Came across a Kashmiri song today, post any Kashmiri songs you know of.

I don't know much about Kashmiri music, but I might as well post this one and let the Kashmiri posters comment on it.

To their credit, Coke Studio found a troupe of Kashmiri singers for their Explorer series last year... and then inexplicably didn't invite them to the actual show:

Apparently they are all from the Valley, but currently settled in Muzaffarabad. The leader, Altaf Mir, is a former freedom fighter. I hope they can appear on the actual Coke Studio at some stage.

Also a question I had for the Kashmiri posters, unrelated to music. Kashmiris wear this distinctive garment, as seen by the Qasamir singers too. I’ve seen it transliterated as both “firan,” and “pheran.” What is the actual pronunciation? The latter pronunciation sounds like it is derived from “perahan,” which is Farsi for garment or dress.
