Kedar Jadhav Performance Watch

This is one guy I really really wanted to test in our ODI team.

In List A, this guy averages 50 with 105 SR.

He played a pivotal role in India A winning the quadrangular cup in Aus a few years back.

I am delighted to see him hit this century against England chasing 350.

The way he went about it was very impressive. He maintained great SR without resorting to bludgeoning every ball. He faced some issues at one stage which prevented him from running well but those 3 crucial sixes he hit at that time brought the run rate below 6 which went a LONG LONG way in helping our lower order finish the chase with less pressure.

Apart from this 100, he scored one more against Zimbabwe where he rescued us from trouble (if I remember correctly).

Now I know that this guy is NOT that talented (like Lokesh Rahul or even Manish Pandey). He is not a power hitter and I feel there is something off in his batting (or maybe it just looks that way) but he is supremely good at rotating strike and smashing boundaries and sixes when required.

Seems highly intelligent too.

If he can do this against quality pacers overseas, we have a true finisher in our hands.

This is the kind of player I would love to see develop in our team.

Rayudu is great ODI player....Like Kedar he has also average of 50 but lower strike rate..Solid batsman at top order

Yeah man but the same runs are usually made by Kohli-Dhoni-Raina, you should had seen the disappointment in his face when the presenter asked him about running and he said he will try to improve on it.

If that is what the player is capable of then that is that. Everyone in the team has different level of fitness. Dhoni would have been wise enough to realize Kedhar's limitation. Why force a player to do what he is not capable, risk getting him and you when he is batting so well ?

Well in running there is always room for improvement I think,Kohli wasn't quick enough but improved later similar for Sachin as well. Kedhar is too old to improve but he is more used to T20's so atleast he needs to up his stamina for a ODI game.

Pretty good to see that he was able to confidently turn Kohli back for non existent singles, and not be bogged down when Kohli gestured about the 'missed' opportunities. Jadhav did really well in the match, so I am sure this ll help Kohli to understand about the need to curb his own eagerness.

Yes, it is completely logical to compare Pakistan's Domestic System to India's.

He has technical deficiencies, relies on his hand-eye coordination and power too much. Although he probably cannot compare to them in ability, he is similar to Sehwag and Dhoni. Such players are past their prime in the 30s and don't have very long careers. Jadhav will be 32 this year, that is why I said I don't see him having long last success. Maybe a couple of years at best.

However, I'm happy for him because based on his rich talent, he deserves these moments in the limelight and one wonders why he didn't get an opportunity earlier in his career, because he could have potentially played 200+ ODIs for India based on what I saw yesterday.

Even he if does well till the end of 2019 WC he'd have done his job, looking at his list A record he could've easily been slotted in ODI's a few years back but I'm also sure why that didn't happen, our last captain being handy at that.

I'll love him to keep doing what he is doing now. But generally I like to watch batsmen who are more attractive to watch. If there are two batsmen, one who is attractive on the eyes and another playing in his own style, and yet both are successful, I would always prefer the attractive one.

Because ultimately sport is a spectator's game. Winning is all that matters to the players but as a spectator, I would prefer my team to be winning with style. Always prefer a Barcelona over Chelsea. One thing I like with the Indian team is that the team has some of the most attractive players in the world. Rohit, Dhawan, Vijay, Kohli, Rahul, Rahane - they are all as good as it gets when it comes to aesthetics. Similarly it was Azhar, Laxman, Sachin, Ganguly in the past. That is one reason I like to watch our team bat (and not bowl). It's also why I have never warmed up to Rayudu even if he has scored a lot of runs in the limited opportunities he has got. He's not as bad as Rayudu on the eyes though and I'll gladly make an exception for him if he keeps doing what he's doing now and plays a Dhoni like role for us.

Saw his innings and it was pure class. However, I would like to see Jadav performing like this in the absence of Kohli at the other end. Kohli just guided him throughout his innings. Would Jadav have played that blinder had Kohli not been at the other end??

Rohit definitely. shami if he's fit. bhuvi will be good in england otherwise. pant's only issue is that he'll have no experience going into ENG. rahane or even dhawan might be better for now.
