The only reason I bought the PPV is to watch Khabib. What a legend. What a champion. What a son.

Dismantled every type of opposition on his way to lightweight greatness.

Greatest UFC fighter ever - take a bow.

Wish you all the very best on your post fight life.

Good decision. It's a dangerous sport and he now retires as GOAT.

My his father rest in peace.

I lowkey want him to fight Ferguson, prove that he wasn't running away from him. Then fight GSP who he said he always wanted to fight and then rematch Conor McTapper and destroy him again to quash any thoughts that it was a fluke win and that he's "running away" from a rematch. Lastly I would like him to move up to welterweight or middleweight and fight the heavier guys who actually know how to wrestle thus proving himself as the greatest wrestler in UFC history. I respect Khabib but I think his legacy deserves so much more. :imran

What a legend.

What an inspiration.

Fantastic sportsman and what a career.

THIS!

He was :) a great fighter but imo we needed more from him to put him in the mount Rushmore of UFC

Khabib's mother didn't want him to compete without his father by his side, and legend respected her wishes.

A living legend. A true maestro.

May Allah SWT bless his father's soul.

Legend.

There was, is and will be only one Khabib.

The Undisputed King.

Take a bow!

One of the greatest ever. He has nothing else really to prove. He cleaned up the whole division and the his father was everything to him. Respect - he retired on a high and he fulfilled his mother's wish.

He could've perhaps tried to do all that, and may have achieved more but it ALL gets trumped by the mother's wishes.

This deserves an even bigger respect, if you could understand it.

I dont follow this sport but do follow news related to Khabib and it is great that he has achieved so much in this style of competitive fighting. May Allah help him keep his word because there will always be temptations and offers to make a comeback but i do believe retiring on a high is the best decision for him.

Also, i read there is another guy from Dagestan who is winning all his matches. What a place of warriors!

his cousin Islam Makachev is next imo also there Khamzat Chimaev from Chechnya who us getting alot of buzz. These guys from the caucuses are tough!

I appreciate his talent for wrestling but it doesnt make a great spectacle with him grappling on the floor all the time

However congrats on a great career n happy retirement Its good for him n his legacy that hes retiring on a high with a record like that then carrying on n possibly risking losses

One of the greatest sportsman of all time. UFC Goat, no man pound for pound today or in history could even come close to beating him.

UFC will not be the same again, he was such an icon.

His legacy is not only finishing undfeated, p4p king but an inspiration to many younger fighters. You will see Russians dominate this sport in the near future.

Great man...extremely emotional scenes at the end. Unbeaten and retires at the top. What more can be asked of an athlete?

What a champ! Simply amazing record!

And I am glad he is done with this career and hope he can stay healthy and there is no hidden injuries.

Actually today he showed what a great allrounder he is. His striking gets underrated because he usually takes all his opponents down where he is such a master, but against Gaetjhe he had to stand and strike for the majority of the fight, and he showed he can trade with the best when it comes to striking as well.

Usyk vs Chisora: UFC star Khabib Nurmagomedov lends backing to Oleksandr Usyk

The UFC's Khabib Nurmagomedov has paid tribute to the skills of Oleksandr Usyk who faces Derek Chisora at the weekend.

Usyk and Chisora's battle on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Box Office, will have consequences on the world heavyweight title picture heading into 2021.

Now Ukraine's Usyk has received support from Russia's Nurmagomedov, who emphatically defeated Justin Gaethje in a UFC lightweight title defence last weekend, then emotionally insisted he would retire.

Speaking prior to Vasiliy Lomachenko's loss to Teofimo Lopez, Nurmagodemov gave his thoughts on boxing's pound-for-pound best: "Right now, I think three guys. Oleksandr Usyk, Vasiliy Lomachenko and Canelo Alvarez.

"Oh sorry, Tyson Fury too. Four guys. It's very hard [to decide] who is the best.

"I really want to see Usyk vs Fury. It's going to be a very good fight. He [Usyk] has very good skill and technique, Tyson Fury too.

"[Usyk] is not like other heavyweights, more technique, his footwork is very good, his conditioning is very good, I really want to watch Usyk against Fury."

Conor McGregor has warned Khabib Nurmagomedov "the world knows this war is not over", hinting at a confrontation in the future if a rematch is not agreed.

I hate Dana for trying to force Khabib out of retirement . Dana is a greedy money chasing hobbit, the man only cares about his business and exploiting fighters to make a profit.

Probably Khabib should've broke his neck if McGregor is not Thankful to have his life spared.

Khabib Nurmagomedov on Afghanistan

'I don't want to talk about it': Khabib Nurmagomedov in fiery exchange with reporter amid Taliban takeover of Afghanistan (VIDEO)

"You were talking about the situation in France last October. It was hard," began the question before Khabib cut him off.

"That was last October. It’s August now, I don’t wanna talk about it”, Khabib said.

"My question is not about that, I want to ask about the situation in Afghanistan nowadays," said the reporter. "Are you shocked by it?"

Khabib asked the reporter if he had any links to Afghanistan to which he denied, and Khabib said that neither did he.

“I wouldn’t like to sit here during such a serious and unique deal for a Russian sport," said Nurmagomedov.

"We have never have such a serious deal neither in Russian football, not in hockey. Today we have such a deal, and I wouldn’t like to discuss this political moment that happens thousands of kilometres away."

He is totally right! It is so awkward and out of place.

I don’t agree that it’s useless, people need to know what round it is; you can potentially debate around how it is executed maybe there has always been a big use in spectators being aware of the round, as far as Boxing is concerned here in the UK; in the 80’s men use to carry the placards at the end of round, there was no issue then, in recent times we’ve had feminists who’ve influenced some of the decisions in the Darts and F1 but thankfully Boxing has not been impacted. I think this is more to do with Khabib being uncompatible about the lack of modesty due to his personal and religious views which is perfectly fine but interesting that he is raising this now at the end of his career, you find glamour every where though and combat sports isn’t unique in that regard.

A very interesting fact.

He just closed a very important contract for Russian (and Asian) MMA scene. Since he is the owner of Eagle FC; so he was asked a question by the journalists regarding no ring girls in Eagle FC upcoming events.

That’s fair enough he wants to keep it halal etc lol but alternatively, are they going to show the rounds digitally or another way ?

Khabib Nurmagomedov seemed visibly bewildered after a fan asked him about cricket, a sport vastly different from MMA.

'The Eagle' was present in Harrogate, England, for a Q&A session. He answered multiple questions, including one about the popular game. Showcasing his limited knowledge of cricket, Nurmagomedov said:

"Cricket?... I hear about cricket. [It's only played in] India, right?... Pakistan? No, that part! Sorry, sorry Pakistani guys, my brothers. But like Pakistan, India, like that part right?... My bad, my bad!"

The fan who asked the question then introduced himself as the representative of renowned English cricketer Moeen Ali. He compared Ali and Khabib Nurmagomedov, commending both athletes for being positive role models for the younger generation.

Nurmagomedov also discussed several other topics, including problems faced by youngsters in England. Addressing why the younger generation in the UK struggled with violence and drugs, the retired MMA fighter said:

"This problem, what you said right now, for me it's everywhere. Right now, world [has] problem with young generation, not only here in UK, Pakistan, India. Everywhere! Russia, Dagestan, in Arabic world, in USA, everywhere! Young generation right now is different. It's completely different than what it was 20 years ago... I think we, like me, people older than me, they have to be careful about their kids, where they're going... Who are their friends? We have to control our kids..."

On his trip to England, Khabib Nurmagomedov visited Old Trafford, where he met Manchester United's former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Recalling a conversation with Sir Alex at 'The Theater of Dreams', Khabib said he was offered a glass of wine by the Scotsman. He turned down the offer with a humorous response to Ferguson. Nurmagomedov told the legendary manager that if he consumed the wine, he would smash everybody.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is a Muslim and therefore does not indulge in the consumption of alcohol.

Former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov "does not think anything" could tempt him back to the UFC after revealing he agreed with his mother to retire following his beloved father's death.

Nurmagomedov, 33, is considered one of the great MMA fighters of all time and retired last October with a 29-0 unbeaten professional record.

Just four months previously, his father and mentor Abdulmanap had passed away.

Nurmagomedov said he retired "at the perfect time" and it was a "good decision".

The Russian also revealed UFC president Dana White had asked him to consider a return a couple of months ago. Asked about the likelihood of that happening, he replied: "No I don't think so. I don't know if my mind changes and I go a bit crazy, we never know what is going to happen tomorrow.

"Right now I am not drunk on life. I am good, Alhamdulillah."

Nurmagomedov has been on a tour of the UK and was speaking at a fundraising event for charity SKT Welfare at London's Indigo at the O2. In a wide-ranging interview he spoke about:

Nurmagomedov had a bitter rivalry in UFC with McGregor, and in April 2019 the Irish fighter aimed an Islamophobic insult at his opponent, who is a practising Muslim.

In October 2018, both men were suspended and fined when a post-fight brawl marred their UFC 229 contest, which Nurmagomedov had won courtesy of a fourth-round submission.

"Father was a different person than me," said Nurmagomedov."In situations he always had different views than mine. When the things happened with McGregor, he told me to leave it because Allah always has a plan, he always tests you.

"Even when he talked bad about my religion, father said try to forgive. He used to say I am an emotional guy, so how can I forgive [McGregor]? I have to fight with him and smash him.

"I cannot understand 100% the thoughts of my father but as time goes by I can see it. I don't need to smash him any more, life has already smashed him."

'It was like an army life'

Growing up in the mountains of Dagestan in Russia, says Nurmagomedov, his father was a huge influence on his life. He died at a Moscow hospital in July 2020 following complications caused by coronavirus.

He said: "All my life, my father never had a business. I don't know how he made money; all his life he spent investing in people.

"I remember when we were kids, he took me, my brother and cousins from the village and moved to the city. There were not too many opportunities and we lived in one house for 10 years. Some went to school but we trained together morning and night.

"It was like an army life. All day he tried to teach us good manners, push us in education, push us in the gym and he sacrificed his life to invest in me and my brothers. From this house there have been seven world UFC champions and all these guys have helped a lot of people."

'Retiring was the right decision'

Nurmagomedov retired from UFC last October after defeating interim champion Justin Gaethje with a second-round choke submission.

Asked whether it was a tough decision, he said: "It was very tough. it was a tough time in my life because I just lost my father in July and fought in October.

"When my father died, my mother and I made the decision that it was going to be the last fight. I fought for a legacy and only came into sport to make history and to give motivation to the younger generations.

"If you are from the mountain, are from a poor part of the world, if you have a dream you can do whatever you want. I defended my title twice with my father but I wondered why I need to follow this path without my father?

"One day everything will come to an end anyway and it was a perfect time to finish. I think this was the right decision to retire, even after a year it was a good decision."

'Sometimes I lose my mind too'

Nurmagomedov is one of the most popular sportsmen in the world on social media, with 30.6 million followers on Instagram and a further 1.7 million on Twitter.

Asked how he copes with the fame and deals with his mental health, he said: "Only because of my faith. Being famous and rich is the hardest thing in life.

"You can buy clothes, you can by cars, you can travel by buying tickets. You don't need to ask anybody. When you ask Allah all the time your faith is strong. Other athletes go crazy.

"Sometimes I lose my mind too! It is hard to be in one position with your mind, sometimes it can go up and down. I pray every day and try to do good things. It is about your crew and who is around you, the ones who actually worry about your future tell you the truth."

On Saturday, Nurmagomedov was at Old Trafford to watch Manchester United's 1-1 Premier League draw again Everton.

He was presented a shirt with the number seven on the back and also met Sir Alex Ferguson, Patrice Evra and Usain Bolt after the game.

"I was talking to Ronaldo a couple of weeks before he re-signed and he said it was a secret; now it is not. I was in Manchester on Friday night with Paul Pogba and Ronaldo before the match and then in the stadium for the game.

"When I was young I really loved football, it is on a different level and for me is the best sport.

"I fought because I know how to, from living in the mountain. I fly to the USA, take their money and go home. That is the best feeling."

‘This is a dynasty’ – Khabib Nurmagomedov gives passionate speech after coaching cousin to win in world title fight

Khabib Nurmagomedov believes fans will be talking about what he and his teammates achieved for years to come.

‘The Eagle’ retired with a perfect 29-0 record in 2020 after winning the UFC lightweight belt and defending it against Dustin Poirier, Conor McGregor and Justin Gaethje.

In his absence, Islam Makhachev, who is often referred to as his protégé, has become the king of 155lb fighters and topped the pound-for-pound UFC list.

Now a new star from their gym is a world champion with Bellator.

Khabib’s cousin, Usman Nurmagomedov, stretched his perfect record to 18-0 and defended his lightweight title at Bellator Champion Series 4 in California on Saturday night.

The 26-year-old put on a dominant display against Alexandr Shabliy to secure a unanimous decision win, courtesy of 50–45, 49–46, 49–46 scorecards from the cageside judges.

Khabib was in his corner and was seen hilariously putting one of his teammates in a chokehold as Usman worked to secure a win by submission.

Ultimately, they made do with a decision victory before the Nurmagomedov leader got on the mic and delivered a powerful speech about their gym.

“I think Usman is right now one of the best lightweights in the world,” Khabib said.

“I was before, now it’s our brother Islam [Makhachev], and Usman is next.

“You know, this is a dynasty. I think for many, many years people are gonna talk and they don’t even understand why.

“We work so hard. We believe in Allah, and we believe in ourselves.”

Khabib has recently breathed life into rumours about his impending comeback.

The 35-year-old has been training hard and even visited American Kickboxing Academy, which is the gym that help him, Daniel Cormier, Cain Velasquez, and Luke Rockhold win UFC belts.

The UFC CEO made desperate attempts to get him to stay four years ago and has made big offers to try to entice the Russian to return from retirement.

Based on Khabib’s interview at Bellator’s latest show, White should be trying everything he can to secure the signature of Usman as he’s the future of the Nurmagomedov dynasty.

Former mixed martial arts champion Khabib Nurmagomedov was escorted from a plane after he refused to move from an exit seat

The Russian, 36, had a disagreement with a flight attendant before take-off on the Frontier Airlines flight which was reportedly flying from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

In a video of the incident shared widely on social media on Sunday, Khabib is told to either move seats or get off the plane and be rebooked on another flight.

The video, which is just over a minute long, has not been verified by the BBC and it is not clear what happened in the build-up but Khabib has put an explanation on his social media.

When he questions why he is being asked to move, the former undefeated UFC lightweight champion is told: "Because they [the flight attendants] are not comfortable with you sitting in the emergency exit row" and he replies "It is not fair".

He is then warned again and the attendant says she will call a supervisor if he does not move.

Khabib replies that he "would like to sit here" before he is asked to leave by another member of staff. He then calmly leaves the plane.

Khabib is regarded as one of the best MMA fighters of all time and won all 29 of his UFC fights includin,g beating Conor McGregor in 2018.

In a statement on X, Khabib said: "[The lady who asked me] questions was very rude from the very beginning, even though I speak very decent English and can understand everything and agreed to assist, she still insists on removing me from my seat.

"What was the base for that, racial, national or other one, I'm not sure.

"But after two minutes of conversation, she called security and I was deplaned from this aircraft, [and later] I boarded another airline and left to my destination.

"I did my best to stay calm and respectful as you can see on the video.

"But those crew members could do better next time and just be nice with clients."

Responding to Khabib's post on X, Frontier Airlines wrote: "We are aware of the incident and are investigating."

In a further statement to BBC Sport, the airline said: "We have refunded the customers and will follow up with them directly."

UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov removed from Frontier Airlines flight

Russian mixed martial arts fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov says that he was removed from a flight in the United States following a seating dispute with airline staff at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

In a post on X on Monday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) legend clarified that the incident occurred on a Frontier Airlines flight and questioned if he had been the victim of racial discrimination.

Footage of the incident was widely shared online, with initial reports saying it took place on an Alaskan Airlines flight.

The dispute centred around whether Nurmagomedov, who was sitting in the plane’s exit row, was prepared, or able, to help other passengers in the event of an emergency.

The 36-year-old UFC champion, writing on X, said a flight attendant who spoke to him “was very rude from the very beginning”.

And even though he speaks “very decent English and can understand everything and agreed to assist, she still insists on removing me from my seat”, he said.

What a stupid airline.

If there is one person who you want near the exit door to save others, its a warrior like Khabib.

His English was fine, the hillbilly air staff didnt like the look of him and his mates.

They probably didn't realise who he was and just didn't like the look of him. Tough looking Muslim male might have triggered their redneck sensibilities, it is Alaskan airlines after all.

Ive never flown on Alaskan, are they known for this type of behaviour?

The airline has released a statement.

"On [the 11th of] January 2025, as flight 4401 from Las Vegas to San Francisco was preparing for departure, a flight attendant initiated the customary briefing for exit row passengers. Customer Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was seated in an exit row, was asked multiple times if he was willing and able to assist in the event of an emergency."

"The statement continued: "The flight attendant informed Mr. Nurmagomedov that he could be moved to a different upgraded seat or exit the plane. Videos circulating on social media platforms do not capture this interaction, and instead show a subsequent interaction after a gate agent entered the plane and reiterated the option to be reseated."

"The decision to deplane the customer was in no way related to his ethnicity and we have refunded him and his traveling companions for their flights."

People sitting in exit row are required to have good english in order to assist with emergencies. Staff thought his english was poor.

His English is fine. He gives interviews in English at UFC events so unless the staff thought they needed people with exemplary English as spoken by someone born in the USA there should have been no problem.

🚨 Dana White goes off on Frontier Airlines for kicking out Khabib Nurmagomedov 😠

"*** is he doing on Frontier Airlines? This kid's got more money than anybody. But that's how humble he is. He's flying on that [expletive] airline... I don't know what you have to do to get kicked off Frontier Airlines. I gotta teach Khabib how to charter a plane."

"If there's anyone you want to be [in the exit row], it's Khabib Nurmagomedov. Good job Frontier Airlines."
