Retired UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov has issued a verbal attack on President Emmanuel Macron following his comments surrounding the recent terror attacks in France, with a controversial Instagram post calling for “the Almighty to disfigure the face of this creature”.

Khabib is a practicing Muslim from the Republic of Dagestan, and has regularly spoken about the impact of his faith on his life and career in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

But he took aim at President Macron on Friday with an Instagram post that featured a boot print over the face of the French leader, along with a strongly-worded passage that was written in Russian and Arabic, along with a passage from the Quran.

He wrote: “May the Almighty disfigure the face of this creature and all its followers, who, under the slogan of freedom of speech, offend the feelings of more than one and a half billion Muslim believers. May the Almighty humiliate them in this life, and in the next. Allah is quick in calculation and you will see it.

“We are Muslims, we love our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) more than our mothers, fathers, children, wives and all other people close to our hearts. Believe me, these provocations will come back to them, the end is always for the God-fearing.”

Khabib added verse 33:57 from the Quran, which said: “Indeed, those who revile Allah and His Messenger, Allah cursed in this world and in the Hereafter and prepared for them humiliating torments.”

That's not radical. Radicalism is about terrorism that you see in public, not eternal punishment in an afterlife.

I guess the point was that you want someone to be in eternal torment for a picture. It doesn't portray that someone is peaceful or tolerant. It can easily be seen as an incitement for someone to attack him, too. He's free to say what he wants, but it doesn't look great.

Khabib was pointing to cartoon of the Prophet(pbuh) not anything else, do keep up before ranting.

So what you are saying is Khabib should curb his free speech as it doesn’t look great and could into incite violence?

But Macron, who is well aware of what the picture represents, is fine to display it publicly because of free speech.

Khabib is only following the Quran. Read the quote, ALL Muslims agree, God himself says those who attack/spread hate on his Prophet(pbuh) will suffer.

You or Macron dont like the Quran ban it but again rank hypocrisy from secular athiests when it comes to freedom of speech.
 
Also France is twisting the message to make it seems Muslims are unhappy simply because of the image of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is the nature of the images (mocking and insulting) that has caused the uproar. If the images were without the intent to insult, I doubt we would have seen this pushback from Muslims.

Ah, so being a fighter means you should be a brute in all aspects? Sure, what if there's a raging anti-Islamic MMA fighter? Should he be excused for not being peaceful towards Muslims? If a long-dead man that you revere gets ridiculed, you have the right to be offended and respond however you want (unless you directly incite violence, and I'm not saying Khabib did that here), but when someone says there's an extremism problem within Islamic circles, and you respond by saying that you believe and want your god to eternally torment someone, then you're kind of proving their point, are you not?

There's also the fact that everyone loves to say how 'humble and respectful' Khabib is, and generally he is, but when it comes to his religious sentiments getting hurt it's all fire and brimstone, as is the same with many others. Again, he's allowed to say it, I'm not trying to censor him, but it certainly portrays Muslims in a more negative light.

lol what speaks for itself. Its our religion and we believe God has the power and right to do what he likes. He sent a man as a mercy to the world. God has bascillay said leave those who abuse the prophe(pbuh) to him and he will deal those in a strong manner. Nowhere did God say attack those people, this is a beauty of Islam ignorant secular athiests with little knowledge wont understand.

I fail to see how eternal punishment can be seen as merciful. But I am the ignorant one, sure.

A harsh punishment is for those who abuse the Prophet (Pbuh) and never repent for it. This abuse by extension means they abuse everything Islam.

But that’s double standards isn’t it? Disfiguring someone in a picture I would say is along the lines of wishing someone is disfigured. You are just articulating it in a different form.

I am just curious as to why people think Khabibs comments cause incitement but Macron’s act of displaying a disfigured picture of a sacred figure in the Muslim world doesn’t.

imo both are wrong and freedom of speech has its limits.

Khabib's comment causes incitement because he's asking the Gods to disfigure Macron's face. If he disfigured a photo of Macron and put it on his social media, nobody would react outside the online medium.

Take Mahathir for example. He literally called for the killing of French people in his tweets, yet how many violent actions did you see as a response - in Malaysia or France or elsewhere?

This is hardly any hate speech or incitement (outside the woke world). murdabad (wishing for death) is a normal and acceptable slogan which is raised during protests. wishing for disfiguring of face is even more mild compared to that.

Again maybe we have to disagree here but how is praying that someone’s face is disfigured different than disfiguring someone in a cartoon? both cases you are projecting your thoughts and wishes. One is through prayer and the other through art.

Drawing cartoons is probably best left to Charlie Hebdo, not going to be Khabib's thing. The footprint on Macron's face gets the message across well enough, and his eloquent reverence for the Prophet PBUH along with the scripture from the Quran express his feelings more that well enough.

He can say whatever he wants, it's his right. Being an MMA fighter doesn't mean anything in this context. He is expected to behave as the rest of us.

Sure. It's all internal. Look at Ali and Tyson the greatest boxers ever lived. Many other fighters got their food through a straw later on. It happens in brutal sports. He probably hoped to keep the rest of the brain matter intact and retired. Good decision. Politics is the next path in Dagestan. And my best wishes

Claiming that he lost most of his brain cells just shows the salty and petty nature of saffron extremists masquerading as intellectuals but eventually the real vile nature always comes out. Your entire post is build on speculation and stereotypes. I am not sure what makes you an expert on why Khabib retired and what his next move is.

Khabib has always been outspoken about his religious beliefs and there is no indication that this had anything do with politics.

It's all speculation my friend. Do you think Macron's face will be disfigured just because it's written in Quran? Khabib speculated and hoped it's true. I speculated based on the data from thousands of fighters and the history. Same thing
