How are these bafoons allowed to run for office? It is a total embarassment. They are nothing but a 'single issue', far right movement. It is an insult to those parties who are running on a proper political platform, with plans to address many real issues.

It is disgusting and disgraceful they have formed a political party. Rizvi and his ilk should be behind bars after their antics in Faizabad.

Why is this joker even being interviewed and asked such questions? He should have zero publicity. It is clear that he has no political acumen.

That is the real question. If the maulana believes Pakistan can run on Allah's blessings, then he should be able to set up his own broadcast operation with the chanda provided, and then spread his message without any need for outside help.

Yeah i have mentioned this a few times, wasn't expecting much from him but still found it shocking that his only solution to economic problems was "Miracles".....log aatay hain aur meray haath pe paisay rakh jaatay hain he said.
They only had one issue (Mumtaz Qadri) to cash in and their movement was almost dead till PMLN decided to give it new life with this khatm e nabuwat amendment which gave them MASSIVE boost as heavy majority of country relates to that even though majority don't even know what amendment was made (it was a minor change in oath).

It will be one of the darkest days in our history if his party wins even one.

Don't think he will win a seat but even if he wins 1 or 2 somehow, it won't be darkest day in history. In a religious country like Pakistan, they are using one of most sensitive issues close to 95% of population and if that can't even win them 5 seats in entire country then surely we still have some hope left.

It will be one of the darkest days in our history if his party wins even one.

The darkest days have already dawned on our country bro, the fact that this guy is alive, breathing an existing confirms the mere fact that we have some severe nut jobs in our nation.

Also, he has many (many) closet fans of his, although that doesn't translate to actual votes; since voting is done for one's quantifiable benefit rather than ideological viewpoint but it is a sad state of affairs that this man roams free in our country.

He should be locked up for eternity in the deepest darkest corners of the hellish environment our law enforcement can imagine for prisoners.

He is a buffoon, far away from reality and he will never be PM of Pakistan, matter of fact, no religious party will be anytime soon.

In a true democracy everyone is entitle to run for PM or President seat as long as those candidate fall under the rule of that country.

For anyone to ask "How", is going against the democracy and equal rights they constantly preach, kind of hypocrite. And you see quite few of them on this forum.

Almost every western countries has some religious lunatic running for public office and some have won.

What needs to be change is to change people's life by making economy better, giving everyone equal education and then you can promote other issues that some of them are trying to highlight on this thread.

I'd be very surprised if his "party" even wins a single seat. By 2023 he would have been dumped in the trashcan of history.

Expect his followers to say ‘Subhanallah’.

Total lunatic - this molvi.

Well dont be.

This guy will take a few seats trust me

I have met people who support him. Only reason why because of that Ashiq-E-Rasool thing...

And there were alot of supporters for him when they took the road to protest

Our Establishment has taken us to the edge by supporting these monsters. We will not prosper if we have these characters in our politics.

I highly doubt he's going to win any seats at all. Having protest power does not directly translate to votes anyway. In reality, he's going to make 5-10% dents in PML-N's votebank all across Punjab, without winning any seats.

So in other words a fully costed manifesto :P

We laugh but it was only a few months ago when the state capitulated to Rizvi and his ilk.

Winning two PA seats, nascent TLP gets ready to enter Sindh Assembly

KARACHI: Amid many surprises and upsets in general elections 2018, Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan has emerged as a new force to claim the highest number of religious votes in Karachi. It beat the five-party alliance Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, which many say is fast losing support of mainstream parties of the Barelvi school of thought.

The TLP, however, says it is a “well-deserved” rise for the party, which came into the limelight after the execution of Mumtaz Qadri, the self-confessed and convicted killer of Punjab governor Salman Taseer, with the name of Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (PBUH). The TLP turned into a political party last year when it launched a protest sit-in across the country against the alleged change in the oath for lawmakers in parliament and the declaration for voters regarding Khatm-i-Nubuwwat.

“We got 321,000 votes in Karachi for our National Assembly candidates while the number of votes for our Sindh Assembly candidates is much higher and we won two [PA seats],” said Bilal Ghazi of the TLP. “We could perform much better if the results were not held back. In three provincial assembly and in one National Assembly seats, the results were changed. We could have won at least six Sindh Assembly seats and one of the National Assembly.”

He said the role of the TLP during the past two years helped it make inroads with religious voters, who had been disappointed by the mainstream religious parties. It was a “natural rise”, he said, which was successfully turned into votes by the party.

“The decision on this would be made by our Majlis-i-Shura at its meeting next week,” he said when asked about the expected role of the TLP legislators on treasury or opposition benches in parliament. “Whatever is decided, we have a two-point agenda as a party — enforce the Shariat of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the country and defend Khatm-i-Nubuwat.”

The Barelvi vote

The mainstream religious parties of the Barelvi school of thought are not ready to concede defeat but cautiously agree that the people have voted for the TLP in larger numbers. Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan-Noorani, which is part of the MMA, and the Sunni Tehreek, which failed to put up an impressive show, put the blame on “rigged and unfair elections” rather than growing support for the new party.

“We as the MMA have already rejected the elections and its results. So it would not be wise to separately comment on the performance of one party in Karachi alone. You see the process as a whole and we believe that it was not a free and fair election whether it’s Karachi or any other part of the country. In this context, how one can judge performance of any party,” said a spokesman for the JUP-N — a viewpoint seconded by the Sunni Tehreek.

However, the rosy picture painted by the TLP leaders for their rising support and its rejection by the JUP-N and ST, both appear unfair assessments for political pundits and analysts, who see the party growing with a certain ideology also has the support of state forces, which have brought it into electoral politics and made its acceptable in the people despite serious criticism.

“The religious slogans have always been reasons for the rise of parties but in this case [TLP] our state has used [it] for short-term projects that simultaneously has won them respect and legitimacy in the people,” says Dr Jafar Ahmad, formerly of the Pakistan Study Centre at the University of Karachi. “With the passage of time I think this is going to become a serious problem. Secondly, the mainstream religious parties we have such as the Jamaat-i-Islami and JUP, they are now seriously lacking sobriety and depth. For instance, the JI, which was once linked with intellectuality, thought or ideological process, [it] has come to a halt and gradually it’s losing ground to others.”

Who the hell is Adil Najam to say Karachi ka Khuda Hafiz.... These pathetic low level liberals aren't liberals at all. In any society there is diversity of opinion and a true liberal will understand and accept this diversity rather than shutting it down. The TLP got only 400k votes in a city of 20 million and this waste of skin is saying Karachi ka Khuda Hafiz. That's the issue with social media any gully mohallah level "intellectual" has a voice.

Parties like TLP shouldn’t be allowed to run in the first place. People who like to incite violence and hatred should be kept far away from elections.

Why this idiot is given time on TV, he should only be shown as comedy clips.
