Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (374 and 265) beat Northern (256 and 214) by 169 runs to win the QeA Trophy Final

Lahore, 6 November 2021: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Khalid Usman and Sajid Khan have been fined 85 per cent and 20 per cent of their match fees for a level 1 offence for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during the third round Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22 match against Southern Punjab at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

Khalid and Sajid in two separate incidents delayed their departures from the crease after being given out and, as such, were found to have violated Article 2.8 of the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which reads as: “Showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during a Match.”

This was Khalid’s second breach in the ongoing season and therefore was fined 85 per cent of his match fees.

On-field umpires Nasir Hussain and Ghaffar Kazmi levelled the charges on the players, who accepted the sanctions proposed by match-referee Nadeem Arshad after requesting a hearing.

PCB has no clue how to prepare good cricket wickets. They need English curators to prepare wickets for them.Previously the pitches had lots of grass and the ball was flying all over the place. The batsmen couldn't score.Even trundlers were taking lots of wickets. Now they gone to the other extreme. They have prepared dead wickets which offer nothing to bowlers.

3 Rounds of QEA complete and no results at all

Absolutely shocking and one that seems to have been brushed under the carpet. Three rounds of the QEA have already been completed, and not a single match has had a result so far.

All nine matches have ended up in a draw. Most teams this season are scoring 500 for fun, and openers are smashing double centuries. It's clear that the pitches are way too batting friendly.

PCB clearly needs to address this issue.

Looks to be another set off flat pitches every where..i know we complained about batters not scoring but this is silly

Last season we have had all matches in Karachi and it was great contest between bat and ball.

Punjab is a dead place to place to play first class matches. Brainless pcb management should find better ground for FC or play with English original duke balls

Lahore, 10 November 2021: A consolidated bowling performance by Southern Punjab had Northern bowled out for mere 163 on day one of the fifth round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22. With this outstanding bowling performance at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Southern Punjab bagged six bowling points – three for dismissing the opposition inside 200 and additional three for taking eight or more wickets inside 100 overs.

Pacers Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ilyas and Zia-ul-Haq took two wickets each and left-arm orthodox Ali Usman accounted for three Northern batters as he returned three for 39 from 16.1 overs.

Only four Northern batters entered double-digits with opener Nasir Nawaz top-scoring with 58 (eight fours).

It turned out to be a wicket-galore as Northern removed three Southern Punjab batters in the 18.4 overs they bowled before stumps were drawn. Southern Punjab had managed 77 runs. Imran Rafiq (24 not out) and Yousuf Babar (two not out) will resume Southern Punjab’s innings on Thursday.

Things weren’t as happening at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium where solid centuries from Imran Butt and Imam-ul-Haq had Balochistan placed at 271 for two against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

After Imran decided to bat first, he added 227 runs for the first wicket with Imam. Imran smashed 140, which included 17 fours and two sixes, while Imam was unbeaten on 110 (eight fours and three sixes).

The two wickets to fall – Imran and Abdul Wahid Bangalzai (two off 14), who came into this match after scoring a fabulous double-century – were taken by Asif Afridi.

PCB will release the report of the pink ball match separately at the day’s conclusion at Gaddafi Stadium.

A bit confused here i am sure there was about 13 overs left and all the players have gone inside with groundsman cleaning the ground. Its a day and night game so what is the reason.

We are learning absolutely nothing about the quality of first-class batting on these featherbeds, utterly useless stats-padding.

The quality of bowling on the other hand should be a huge concern going forward for Pakistan cricket.

Lahore, 10 November 2021: Abid Ali stroked his third century of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22 on the opening day of the pink ball first-class match between Discover Pakistan Central Punjab and GFS Sindh at the Gaddafi Stadium.

The Pakistan Test opener smashed 11 fours and a six and was unbeaten for 113 as Central Punjab made 238 for two in 75.3 overs.

Central Punjab openers gave their side a solid 138-run start after Sindh opted against contesting the toss and elected to field. Ahmed Shehzad, Abid’s opening partner, made 104-ball 78, which was studded with 11 fours.

Sindh bowlers made the most of the twilight hour – termed to be most productive for the bowling side in a pink ball affair with the natural light fading and artificial lights taking over – as two of the batting side’s wickets to fall in the day came in this span.

Ahmed was the first one to fall as he was bowled by left-arm orthodox Mohammad Asghar. Mohammad Hasnain’s lethal bouncer sent Azhar Ali packing as the Central Punjab skipper edged the ball on its way to wicketkeeper’s gloves.

Mohammad Saad, with 44 off 102, put up strong resistance against Sindh bowlers following the two dismissals and he will resume the 97-run stand with Abid on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the play will begin at 1130 from Thursday. The match timings for the next three days are: 1130 – 1330 (session one), 1330 – 1410 (lunch), 1410 – 1610 (session two), 1610 – 1630 (tea), 1630 – 1830 (session three).

Lahore, 11 November 2021: Balochistan’s Imam-ul-Haq scored his first-class career’s best score of 202 not out against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium on day two of the fifth round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22.

The left-handed batter added 92 runs to his overnight score, which propelled Balochistan to 463 for five in 137.5 overs before Imran Butt, who had made 140 yesterday, declared the innings.

This was Imam’s second double-century in the format as he bested his unbeaten 200. Imam smashed 16 fours and four sixes in his 390-ball innings and added 172 runs for the third wicket with Haris Sohail, who made 79 (six fours and four sixes).

Balochistan had made 329 and lost two wickets at the completion of 100 overs and, as such, gathered three batting points, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa failed to get any point.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were 35 for one in 8.4 overs before stumps were drawn. Sahibzada Farhan (24 not out) and Musadiq Ahmed (10 not out) will resume the innings for 2020-21 edition’s joint-winners on Friday.

At the Mulan Cricket Stadium, Yousuf Babar’s brilliant maiden century and Azam Khan’s 96-ball 70 helped Southern Punjab stage a recovery and lift them to 346 for seven at the close of play. Southern Punjab had begun the day at 77 for three.

Yousuf made 116 not out off 204, hitting 16 fours. He partnered with Azam for 114 runs for the fifth wicket. The solid stand between the two added three batting points to Southern Punjab’s tally after they accumulated six bowling points yesterday.

The partnership ended with Azam’s wicket. The wicketkeeper-batter was removed by pacer Aamir Jamal, who also accounted for Zain Abbas and Muhammad Imran.

Lahore, 11 November 2021: Sindh raced to 190 for the loss of one wicket at a staggering run rate of 5.28 in reply of Central Punjab’s 387 for nine on day two of the pink ball affair at the Gaddafi Stadium. That it happened was due to half-centuries from Khurram Manzoor, who struck 51 off 50 (seven fours), and Ahsan Ali, who was unbeaten on 88 off 99 (10 fours and a six).

Khurram and Ahsan provided a solid 109-run opening stand before Zafar Gohar ended the former’s stay at the crease. Ammad Alam ensured that the run rate doesn’t take a hit with his 49 not out off 67 (four fours and three sixes).

Earlier, Central Punjab declared their innings on 387 for nine. Mohammad Saad converted his overnight 44 into 88 and Abid Ali was out for 122 after starting his day at 113.

Junaid Ali and Zafar Gohar made 35 and 24 in the middle-order.

Sindh’s left-arm orthodox Mohammad Asghar finished with four for 143, while pacer Mir Hamza finished with three for 65.

Central Punjab added one more batting point to their tally for breaching the 300-run mark inside 100 overs. Sindh, for dismissing four batters, got one bowling point

Scores in brief

the pitches may be flat, but the bowling has no penetration. beyond 4 or 5 front line bowlers pak bowling stocks are very shallow, and there isnt a single spinner who has looked even remotely threatening.

Lahore, 12 November 2021: Southern Punjab were closing in their first win of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22 as they were 56 runs ahead of Northern, who were 175 for six in second innings, when stumps were called on day three of the fourth round fixture at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

It was Southern Punjab captain Mohammad Abbas and left-arm orthodox Ali Usman who wreaked havoc with the ball as only two Northern batters Faizan Riaz (51 off 112) and Muhammad Huraira (43 off 83) managed substantial scores.

Southern Punjab were earlier bowled out for 394 after beginning the day at 340 for seven as pacer Aamer Jamal recorded his maiden five-fer with five for 111, while Musa Khan added another wicket to his tally to finish with three for 99.

Yousuf Babar converted his overnight 116 into 138.

At Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were 285 for three in 86.4 overs in reply of Balochistan’s 463. Nabi Gul, with an unbeaten 88, had made the most runs for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while Sahibzada Farhan and Musadiq Ahmed, who were at the crease overnight, also scored half-centuries.

Farhan made 75 off 175 (10 fours), while Musadiq made 91-ball 70 (13 fours).

On Saturday, the last day of the round, Nabi and Adil Amin (37 not out) will resume Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s innings. To date, Balochistan have accumulated four points, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have bagged two points (both batting).

these are the kinds of wickets which produce a wasim and waqar and shoaib akhtar. these wickets destroy medium pacers and you need skill or speed or both to produce wickets. these are also the kinds of wickets that produced saeed anwar, inzamam, m. yousuf, javed miandad

Lahore, 12 November 2021: Ahsan Ali smashed his highest first-class score and was unbeaten on 284 at the close of day three of the pink ball affair between Sindh and Central Punjab at the Gaddafi Stadium. This is Ahsan’s first score of 100-plus for Sindh.

The right-handed opener was on 88 when play resumed today and continued to score at a brisk rate. He has, to date, smashed 35 fours and three sixes from the 364 balls he has faced.

Sindh were 566 for five from 124 overs and had pocketed all five battings points for scoring 485 for the loss of two wickets in 100 overs.

Ammad Alam, who was on 49 yesterday, struck a century as he made 157 off 210 (15 fours and seven sixes).

The pair of Ahsan and Ammad added a mammoth 309 for the second wicket, and denied Central Punjab bowlers opportunities to make inroads for the large part of the day.

After Ammad became Zafar Gohar’s second wicket, Saad Khan and captain Asad Shafiq scored 31 and 21. Asad was also removed by Zafar, who has taken three wickets for 139 in 45 overs in the innings.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Hasan will resume his innings on six with Ahsan, who is eyeing his maiden triple-century, on Saturday, the last day of the fixture.

I agree that flat pitches are bad, even guys like ahsan Ali who averages 20 something with the bat is scoring big daddy hundreds. Awful porches 4 weeks in a row.

Amir Jamal with a 5fr. Hopefully we will see him in PSL

Ali Usman SLA outbowling Nauman Ali, he bats decently too, player to watch out this season

Loved Ammad Alam’s batting. If he gets a few more seasons like this he can become the next big thing in our cricket. From here on he can either go Babar way or Akmal way. It’s all up to him now.

I have been really disappointed with the state of pitches this year in QeA so far. Not many result oriented pitches plus way too flat decks for bowlers to get anything out of it. A lot of meek and players with visible chinks in their gameplay have been racking up tons like it's nothing. Pitches should be regulated and so that the games end late in the last day.

Ramiz Raja is doing the talking but not the walking.

The PCB should just cancel the tournament now if there is no will to improve the pitches. Utterly useless.

There is nothing wrong with flat wickets, we just need a little more bounce. Flat wickets force bowlers to learn their trade and batsman get to bat time, both if which create better players. Just more bounce needed if it's possible

Mohammed Asghar needs more consistency to go with his spin, he is the only spinner I have seen that has something but he can't land 2 balls in the same place. Can someone show him Montys lines and lengths.

Slight seam assisting pitches with good carry which get drier as the game progresses so that both batters and bowlers have to play out of their skin to succeed. This 450-550 pitches aren't doing anything for both batters or bowlers. Batters' technique doesn't get tested, bowlers' ability to bowl game changing spells doesn't come into play. We have had pitches where on average 6-7 bowlers have been bowling due to lack of support from the wickets and large innings.

The problem is that our groundsman don't have the ability to produce a slightly seaming pitch, it's all or nothing. But if the choice was between the terrible wickets of the past, or these, then its these. These wickets at least teach the batsman the virtue of occupying the crease and the bowlers the value of concentration and line and length.

Why can't cricket matches be played in Diamond cricket ground Islamabad instead of dead pitches like Gaddafi stadium and Iqbal Stadium

That's what I have been saying for years on this forum to teach the curators or hire better curators and invest money on this kind of stuff rather than making useless high profile posts that serve nothing. There is a director of domestic cricket, a managing director, a director of cricketing affairs etc.

Need to find better ground than this rubbish

To be honest all the grounds except for the stadia which host international cricket are in poor shape.

The FC games are being held in 1 proper ground in a city plus club level grounds in the same city.

When matches are held in Isb/Pindi, only Rwp stadium is the one that is international standard. Apart from them, Diamond club's ground is too small, the ground in f6 hardly looks more like a regular ground where kids play and there is another one in KRL colony which is maintained by military region and they don't even let "ordinary" people near the ground(well before the pandemic started). The ground is pretty small there as well.

There was a news on Tv that a cricketer Waqar Aslam died during a domestic match today in lahore. Can anyone confirm?

The matches in Karachi last season were great. It was the right amount of balance between bat and ball. It is possible if we find the right grounds.

Lahore, 17 November 2021: Left-arm orthodox Kashif Bhatti recorded a five-wicket haul for Balochistan against Northern at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium on first day of the fifth round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22. This was 35-year-old’s 22nd first-class five-for.

The other four wickets were shared equally between off-spinner Raza-ul-Hasan and left-arm orthodox Jalat Khan.

With the scores of 47 and 41, Northern’s Abdul Faseeh and Rohail Nazir put up resistance. Both batters, however, were sent packing by Kashif.

More draws, although the wickets were much more improved for this round of fixtures. The bigger problem seems to be the over-rate with barely 75 overs being bowled per day on average. It's an old school issue with playing cricket in Punjab during the fall months. There are only two options, either move all fixtures to the south, or start the day's play at 9 am.

Lahore, 21 November 2021: Central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa teams have been fined for maintaining a slow over rate during their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-class match that ended at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on Saturday evening.

In the drawn game, Central Punjab were found three overs short of their target after taking into account time allowances and, as such, were charged under Article 2.22 of the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with the minimum over-rate offences. As such, all members of the playing XI were fined PKR28,000.

Similarly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were found two overs short of their target. As such, all members of the playing XI were fined PKR 16,000.

Central Punjab captain Ali Zaryab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa captain Khalid Usman accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Mohammad Javed. The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Qaiser Waheed and Saqib Khan.

I watched both Mohammed Asghar and Usman in the Televised game. And tbh, a little disappointed with both-Asghar has no bowling sense and even less control and Usman me reminded of part time spinner. Asghar can spin the ball, but his lengths and control are dreadful. Surely, someone in the Sindh team can talk to him.

What is wrong with PCB?
Why aren't full quota of overs of Day's play happening?
Only 78 Overs happened today in the televised match?
Why can't they start play hour or 1/2 earlier?
Same problem was in Lahore leg where in every matches around 2 sessions of play were lost?
What is the point of playing 4 day matches? When they are playing 3 day match in 4 days.
Was hoping this will not happen in Karachi leg but is happening here as well.
Even umpires aren't enforcing/fining players over slower overrate for completing these overs?
Saj please ask PCB regarding this.

unfortunately it seems like no one is being penalised for this beyond some token fines, like Rs.15000 or something.

should have in game penalties for poor over rates, or be docked points in the overall table. i dont think anyone is really taking this seriously tbh.

given there are no add breaks, there is no reason teams shouldnt be bowling 15 overs an hour. if light is really such a big problem, just make the games five day affairs.
