KP best in Education Sector improvement, Sindh worst : BBC Report

Another establishment ki saazish or Imran paid BBC to release this report?

A simple but eye opening report here. We all know the differences in budgets allocated to education in KP, Punjab, Sindh and Federal. For example, in the budget of 2016-17 Punjab allocated Rs 73.3bn to education while in same period KP allocated Rs 19.5bn to allocation. Therefore, annually going by this rate Punjab spent more than Rs 50bn on education than KP. See below for references to spending.

KP: https://www.dawn.com/news/1264953
Punjab: https://www.dawn.com/news/1264730

Let's digest the above fact for a moment first. Now, let's back to this report of BBC. As per the report the results are eye opening.

KP: 4.5k increase in number of schools with water facilities (29%).
Punjab: 1.1k increase in number of schools with water facility (2%).

KP: 7.7k more schools with electricity (47.5%)
Punjab: 6.1k schools with electricity (12.5%)

KP: 4.3k more schools with toilet facility (19.5%)
Punjab: 2.3k schools with toilet facility (4.6%)

KP: 4.8k more schools with boundaries (22%)
Punjab: 3.4k schools with boundaries (7%)

Now sit back and ask yourself this question as to where did that additional Rs 50bn worth of spending on education went? You guessed it right this IS corruption.

Brilliant analysis and yes truly eye opening..
Every Pakistany should be disgusted by the PMLN (and PPP)..

This cannot be defended and this is just the tip of the iceberg we don't even know the scale of the corruption that takes place and how deeply these are entrenched into our society.

Brilliant analysis Extra_Cover

people don't even realize that providing basic facilities to thousands of schools is even better than opening new schools. Improving attendance of teachers, hiring them on merit, providing training and rewarding top performers are brilliant steps that will make huge impact in future.

Where are the Nooras? They are quick to comment on non issues, but education and illiteracy is one of the reasons the country hasnt developed. So guys where are you?

The only reason.

People take country forward on to right direction not highway and metro.

Maybe for esteemed PP celebrities and scholars like Dr. Mamoon it is more important when, where and how IK does Sajda rather than how massively his party has improved the education and health sectors in Mamoon's own province. Bugz-e-Imran aek la-ilaaj marz hai.

I quoted you in another thread. Hope you don't mind.

Apparently nothing has improved in Kp Mamoon. Just like no trees were planted and saplings cost 2rps.

I don't mind that bro. Come to think of it a 5 min analysis comparing budgets vs actual results gives me this picture then what would be the case if anyone digs into these or audits these numbers. I say this again this is just the tip of the iceberg and we as average Pakistani have got absolutely no idea how deep this corruption is rooted within our society.

Guys i have already told you it hat work was being done.I had detailed discussion with my father who is in education sector and he was satasified tough he votes for Jumat e islami.

Anyone have any statistics we can compare with india

There is no comparison even without looking at numbers i can tell India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are far ahead of Pakistan when it comes to education and literacy rate.

Why People of Punjab voted PML-N in 2013 ? ?

Imran Khan : No Way. Rigging.

Why the vote bank increased ? Why people chose PML N instead of PPP ?

Delivery. Performance.

KPK was lagging behind Punjab so much in Edu and Health department that there was massive room for improvement. It is a no-brainer than PML N delivered better than PPP despite Establishment and it's stooges trying to strangle the neck of democratically elected civilian government and creating destability all the time.

On the other hand KPK led PTI government delivered better than ANP.

If PTI only thrived on it's performance in KPK than they wouldn't have needed establishment's controlled judiciary, NAB aid and most importantly Gate number 4 dry cleaned installed " electables "

Why ? ?

Because than all those who lost by a margim of 5000 to 40,000 votes in Punjab would have thrown out 2013 PML N Punjab winners by defeating them on performance.

Gallop, Pildat & Pulse surveys of last 5 years has revealed that PML N lead Punjab government is on top overall.

To show how good these democrats are: this is what happened last week in Punjab.

I think an important point to remember is what percentage of schools were operating without water or electricity across the provinces, which would put these numbers into context?

It is also important to ask what the source of this information is?

Computer Science or History: New Sindh textbooks 20 years too late

1939848-mainimage-1553868093.jpg

KARACHI : Perhaps no other technological domain has advanced as rapidly as the field of computer science. In the span of a few decades, we have moved on to handheld devices more powerful than the supercomputers of yesteryear.

But as the world makes even further advances, exploring technologies like cloud computing and artificial intelligence, Sindh education authorities appear to be struggling to keep pace.

The Express Tribune got a hold of the new edition of the Class 9 Computer Science textbook published by the Sindh Textbook Board only to discover that the province’s students are being taught a curriculum outdated by around 20 years.
For instance, the chapter on Microsoft Windows lists Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT and Windows XP as the latest versions of the operating system (OS) “now available for use”. This is despite the fact that tech giant Microsoft not only suspended all software support for the latest of these five years ago but has also started phasing out support for some of its successors as well.

The chapter on storage devices, meanwhile, lists everything from CD-Roms, which current students may vaguely remember, to floppy disks and magnetic tape, which they are unlikely to have used or even seen. However, there is no mention of USB storage devices, which have by and large replaced CDs, DVDs and other formats as means of data transfer or cloud storage services like Google Drive.

Indeed, many laptops these days do not even ship with a CD or DVD drive. Most provide only USB slots instead and some state-of-the-art models are beginning to migrate away from that format as well.

The new textbook also fails to touch upon mobile and tablet computing, which between them constitutes more than half of all computer usage worldwide. But perhaps the biggest crime it commits is to not have a single line, let alone a chapter, on the Internet and social media in a day and age where they have become the primary preoccupation of all computer users.

It should be alarming that such an outdated book will be used to prepare the more 700,000 students of Sindh who will appear in this year’s Matric Board Examinations.

“The computer science book needs be immediately changed,” said Matric Board Chairman Karachi Dr Saeeduddin, when contacted by The Express Tribune. “It is completely astonishing… right now, the Class 6 Computer Science book is more advanced than the one taught in Class 9,” said Sindh Education Department Curriculum Head Dr Fouzia Khan.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Sindh Bureau of Curriculum Director Asghar Memon admitted that the curriculum being used for Class 9 was last revised in 2002. “From 2013 onwards, we started implementing a new curriculum, introduced nationally in 2006, but it is taking some time,” he said.

“So far, we have changed the curriculum up till Class 8,” said Memon. “Classes 9 and 10 are next in line for curriculum revision. Work on this will be finalised in May-June this year and the books will be printed in the months that follow.”

“But the new curriculum will only come in force in the 2020 academic year,” he added.

Dr Fouzia, however, warned against expecting too big of a change. “[Although] after much delay, sincere efforts are being made to revise the Class 9 curriculum… the new book will not be entirely different from the old one,” she said.

Dr Saeeduddin, meanwhile, said his department offered to update the textbooks currently used but had not received a positive response. “We wrote a letter to the education department. We told them we could compile a better alternative to the current books,” he said. “But there has been no progress. No meeting has taken place.”

When asked why Sindh authorities took until 2013 to implement a curriculum introduced nationally in 2006, Memon said the issue was complicated on two counts.

“When the new curriculum was introduced, it was first rejected for being prepared by a dictator [Pervez Musharraf],” he said. “Then, when in 2010 education became a provincial subject through the 18th Amendment, provincial authorities reviewed the 2006 curriculum and found it to be better than the one currently in use.”

“This, in a nutshell, is a story of the delay,” he added.

I read this the other day and was so embarrassed and disappointed that didn't feel like sharing.

Class 6 textbook more advanced than Class 9

Allah ka shukar hai we have the O/A Levels system available in Pakistan, if we just had this garbage government system then Pak would be really down in the dumps.

Can Major shed some light on the education reforms of the PPP government in the last 10 years, I remember he was very active in some propaganda thread about education in KPK.

Kal bhi Bhutto zinda tha
Aj bhi Bhutto zinda hai

One can only laugh at the cult members who were doing bhangra over the fake education reforms in KP.

Cult members don’t deserve sympathy, so it is appropriate to laugh at them.

Read the report it is about Sindh government publishing a 'new' Computer Science book with technology that has been obsolete for a decade.

I didn’t even look at the report and I am least interested. I made a general comment based on the previous posts in this thread.

As usual, shot your load prematurely just because you saw KP and PTI.

Here comes the keyboard warrior who explicitly stated that the military will sack Imran if he goes against national interests.

I am not sure if I should even engage you after that (PP) career ending slip-up, but since I consider myself a reasonable person, I will still oblige.

As I told the other cult member, PPP doesn’t interest me. I from KP and I have voted for PTI twice.

This thread talks about the education reforms in KP which have proved to be fake, and that is why I made that comment. I am not sure what part of this is hard to understand.

There was a picture of Benazir on the cover of this outdated book. Paisa Party is the epitome of a cult, as it is disturbingly obsessed with the Bhutto name. Zardari and his kid can milk this forever provided their cult members' obsession with his wife's surname remains.

Let me repeat it again, it wasn't a slip up, i meant what I said, Book mark it for the next time.

Keyboard warrior? lol, lagay raho Khala.

Fake? Yea, i would take someone's word online who for trolling purposes or for whatever reasons comes up with some of the most ridiculous comments and comments disconnected with reality just to appear different then his fellow countrymen.

Know many ordinary KPK's personally who are happy with the current KPK government, hence re-elected the same government for the first time in it's history.

Between, PP isn't a career, it is forum, where people discuss on different issue, welcome to the real world.

The govt should offer poor parents a choice of sending there children to govt schools, or giving them a voucher to send their children to a private school. The amount that it would cost for the govt to educate the child, can be the voucher amount. Seems that the govt schools are not salvageable.

I didn't have enough deep information about kpk education reforms, but one thing which confused me
Most teacher above 40+ age are unable to teach many subjects to students

Positive about KP education reforms
1) Most teachers are doing their duty regularly in time (In the previous government's teachers was not much competent)
