Yes guys, the legend deserves his own thread and hoping to hear more of his gems in the commentary box. Sublime sense of humour. Bumblesque at times and also Thug life

England could have had 3 centurions with the bat

Sangakara: “Talking about centuries, a few of the Australian bowlers are close to centuries”. Stoinis was bowling

Apparently Sanga also said that 21 sixes and 42 boundaries in the England innings is what some people have achieved in their entire career. What a gem

Sanga and harsha are two good commentators from asia rest all are trash.
Akash chopra is toxic.

Akash chopra is toxic.

Harsha is better presenter than commentator IMO.

Akash "badbola" chopra is good for simple desi audience but he speaks too much & his voice makes him even more irritating.

From hindi commentators I found murli kartik quite sensible with words but other spoils it with their forceful humour.

Dravid & ganguli ,kumble were very good in their short commentary stints.

I think the sense of humour is key. Sangakarra is a genuinely a funny guy with some decent punchlines

I think the posh accent is a bit fake, but he knows the game well.

Yep, that accent is so fake and it gets even worse when he's sitting with the British commentators. but seriously, the guy knows his stuff

He's a great commie no doubt about that :)) He's basically Sri Lankan version of Chris Eubank Snr Amjid Javed lol

I think,His posh accent is not actually a fake. His alma mater is Trinity College, Kandy which is a missionary based school with a curriculum way ahead of any English medium school in South Asia.He had the best results [3A's]in A/L's in Arts and was selected to the government Law school. But he couldn't complete the degree because of cricket.

He took Maxwell to task yesterday, and its the best thing that could have happened to him. When Sanga speaks the Pros take notice!

I personally don't mind his fake accent. Imagine if he sounded like Murali or Jayasurya, that would be even worse.

I quite like Sanga behind the mic. Clearly knows a lot about circket as opposed to some other commentators that are there just for entertainment.

I heard Sanga in the comm box for the first time during the Pak-Eng game and was thoroughly impressed. He is an outstanding analyst and communicates his analysis in such simple words. I haven't heard anyone explain the game as well as he does. Love listening to him and I hope he's in the comm box for bilateral series as well.

I think Mike Atherton + Mark Nicholas are also very sensible commentators with mature understanding.

Great batsman poor captain/tactician, lived of Mahela’s excellent cricketing brain.

Today he was back to his humorous best! Proper patriot of Sri Lankan cricket

Sanga commenting on a game while injured couple years back
Concentrator” Sanga how does it feel to be in the box”
Sanga “ feels good to criticize the game while pretending to be perfect from here”
Epic

His technical analysis is second to none. Brilliant commentator.

Nasir and Sanga make the perfect pair in the commentary box.

....but I am making Sivaramakrishnan. He seems to have disappeared somewhere.

Hes hands dosn the best commy right now... Not just from asia but overall.
His technical input is second to none, hes easy on the ears and he has a subtle/intelligent sense of humor.. What more could u ask for

Definitely the best of the Asian commentators. It's a very low bar but he is miles above it. I especially enjoy listening to him during Sri Lanka games, where he does not really try to hide his bias.
